Last night turns it on.
Gorgeous!
Omg. So much stuff. Someone got a new outfit.
The stinger! It's all too much!
The funny thing is he's a large by Japanese standards. 😂
Beeutiful 🐝
🥰😹
A brick or a stick honestly isn't a bad idea. The cops would probably get arcy if they saw you carrying a real brick, but I was reading a thread where someone else was saying the same thing in a different community the other day and apparently there's like collapsible type bricks that you can fold out to full size. If you were to keep that in your backpack and pull it out around the corner from the crossings that always give you trouble, it'd probably still achieve the same thing, with the added affect nobody's going to start accusing you of breaking into people's houses
This happens to me at the one in Coburg near the Coles all the time! I get pedestrian rage 😡
Behold the belleh
** Stuffs face into cat tummy **
You know, I've thought about it many times but I'm concerned she'll suffocate me in my sleep if I do it.
snorgles it
She's such a lovely cat
not like my two monsters , they are like roly poly dolls always trying to knock each other over
I think she's related to my fatty
And the other sort of Ah, Footscray.
Barefoot screaming woman in my front yard pinching the hose to shower with….
Had my once-every-many-weeks check of LinkedIn on the desktop to see connection requests and the like. Found myself hit with that pang of realising how stagnant I was for years at my past role - can't blame the workplace entirely, but I feel like I lost so much of my more passionate years while hamstrung by visa conditions. I have the freedom now but not as much excitement any more...
Something definitely needs to change. I don't have huge ambitions but I also want to aim a little higher (in a sustainable way).... think with whatever experience I get in the next year and a half or so, I might be able to shift my career into something more interesting or substantial. Maybe do a formal qualification in spatial tech and get a gig in some cool environmental fieldwork company.
Covid lockdowns did NOT help.
I probably might be still at my old job but further advanced and happier (everyone might've been happier) if it weren't for the impact of the lockdowns. The one upshot was that at the time, it paved the way for me to stay in this country permanently. I can't keep blaming the lockdowns now though, I do need to move on. Next week might bring some resolution about some options in that regard
It's weird that 'aiming higher' means getting a new job, more often than not.
I honestly think that workplaces, in general, pigeon hole a person into a role and that's all.
All the best in your search and progress.
If you can get a permanent government gig, they'll pay for your education in some cases.
I think there could've been scope to aim higher (expand my experience) at my last place, but not with the way management turned out in the last year.
My current gig is PT government, very low-level in the scheme of things (because at this exact moment I don't want a super challenging job), but an useful foot in the door after being denied opportunities all these years. I could easily do more complex roles with a bit of training but those positions are currently filled by fairly capable and willing people, so unless they leave, I think opportunities are limited (which is ok for now). I'll definitely stay for a year at least and see what else opens up.
Seeing how much further people who started around the time I did in this industry have gone, it's easy to feel a little bitter. But I can catch up and develop my own niche, I think...
So pretty 😍
It’s surprisingly quiet up there.
I'm going to Daiso to buy some shit I don't need. It's my first time there although I vaguely remember there being one in Airport West many many moons ago or something similar. Anyway I'm off to buy some cute shit.
Take an Uber. Tick some boxes today
City outing with the fam today. Dinner on Lygon street. Ordered a beer and the waiter put it in front of my son. We had a chuckle and asked the waiter how old did he think my son was. The dude said 18+20 for sure.
I think it made my son's, who is actually 14, year.
Ah, Footscray
With your post and CEO's next to each other I honestly thought you were both in Footscray at the same time...
A Parade of Nasty Things? Were there giant politicians too?
While II agree cane toads and mozzies are nasty, the magpie was rather nice 😝 There was a pretty good circus mob and many children who needed their pitch adjusted dramatically downward
I got an ad for one of those shitty story apps where you pay like 6 bucks a month to read stories that Chatpgp thing wrote, and their ad is kinda hilarious
What the.hell even is this 🤣
I love how it gave Brad a wolf and didn't expand upon it
Context is for nerds
I mean, I kinda wanna know what happens
I desperately need to know how this ends.
Gimme 6 bucks and I'll get chatgap to finish if for you 😉
Tonight is when all the different clocks at home become the right time again 😃
Yes!! I couldn’t work out how to change the clock in my car, but I only drive it once a week so left it.
The clock in my car sets the time automatically. From the radio stations. Which really sucks, as half of them are broadcasting with the wrong time. It isn't usually an issue, as when the phone is docked it shows the phone time. But if the phone isn't docked and I want to know the time, I need to tune to a station I know is broadcasting it correctly.
If your car is the same as mine, I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the station you listen to hasn't updated their broadcast time for Daylight savings.
Tonight is the night I asked my partner "wait, when did the clock stop working?" and he responded "huh? We have a clock?"
Who knows when it stopped working, neither of us have looked at it for 2 years 😂
And knowing us, neither of us will bother taking it down to fix or chuck for another 2 years. It's just wall decor now.
Hating the darkness - struggle to see properly driving in the dark with the oncoming bright car headlights. I bought some yellow glasses to try. Can’t avoid it due to work.
My new time organisation is going well to plan.
Weekends for doing household work, weekdays for doing school and art with some cooking chores and cat chores
Also got all my stuff ready to dye my hair tomorrow. It's been 4 months . Blue black hair, yay 😃
Going for an evening walk before dinner as it’ll be a while before it’s light at this time. Love daylight saving, I will miss it.
I don't mind dark mornings. I need bright evenings.
I have a theory that cats are actually talking to us but we can't understand because they actually speak with a very heavy Glaswegian accent. Like Rab Nesbitt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k7VoFiagfs
Just quickly popping into kitchen warehouse to grab some baking trays and that’s it .
Yeah right.
This is me but with officeworks. When I was in Adelaide I went in to buy stamps and came out with new earbuds and a packet of BB's
mmmmmmm butter
🕵️♂️
Oh chicken and vegetables, how I've missed you despite your blandness.
My Woolies order arrived three hours late and turned out not to be mine at all. So I still don't have any useful groceries and I need to find somewhere to donate a big box of nappies.
Nearest women's shelter?
It looks like The Nappy Collective have a few collection points right near me so I'll run with that. Hopefully somebody didn't need them too desperately tonight!
it feels like a day for a long bath with a book. Fuck all the work I should be doing.
I've done very little today except prepare meals for family and watch short films (thankyou to those who mentioned it in yesterday's thread, it's an addictive habit lol). I bought Miniest an ocarina as part of her birthday present and they had one with a cracked glaze for cheap, so I got it as well. We've been attempting to play them and the eldest said it's like being in a room full of apprentice snake charmers. I can sort of play "The Rose" but it'll take a fair bit more practise before I can play well. Drew us a D major finger position chart thingy, which really helps.

My breakfast/lunch: Coles roast chook sandwich featuring: Coleslaw, buttered Wonderwhite White bread, hot sauce, cheese, salt and pepper. Holy smokes it was incredible
I'm going to bed. Try to stop me
There's no such thing as time at the end of daylight savings, it's all out the window. Go bananas.
Sleep well!
Gute Nacht
Goddamn Minh Phat. so easy to spend so much on delicious condiments and dried and frozen goods and everything. Most of what I've bought should last me for half a year at least though. The $30 worth of dried mushrooms in particular. 500g goes a long way and these small mushrooms are great as they rehydrate a lot faster, no need to prep so far in advance.
the Minh Phat in Richmond is awesome, the range is huge, worth the trip to Victoria st, 😬
It's a real one-stop shop for all east/southeast Asian essentials, and a great range of vegan products too. They also had those little red shallots that are hard to find fresh, will definitely be heading back for those to make my mum's famous chilli sambol. Our new year is coming up and I'll be glad to take this over to my relatives, didn't think I could recreate it here.
Rain incoming if you've got stuff to do.
Can confirm. I just decided I didn't need to pack a raincoat for my travels today, thereby dooming us all. Sorry
Is OK. The garden needs more water.
Hope it doesn't hit till past 12 like forecast, I'm on my long way to go look at car #1...
Eee. Walking to shops now in shorts n tshirt
Pour one out for the staff at the Arts Centre where the website (the one people need to download their tickets) is down on a Saturday night during comedy festival 🥃
the Arts Centre website is a steaming pile of shit almost constantly, as is much about that organisation. not FOH workers.
I love a dinner that is just throwing together whatever left in the fridge.
(tonight it was veggies and a salmon fillet thrown in the air fryer before being made into a frittata).
My dad used to call meals like that 'week in review'
Sometimes it worked. Otjer times, not so much.
I made a music video playlist for the kids and I did that thing where I forgot every music video I've ever watched.
I've been adding to it over time and I've got over 300 in there now. Much better than the stuff on YouTube kids as well
Before I learnt of Spotify I used to organise my music into "songs I like [year] edition" playlists. It worked well at first, especially with adblock, except since I had them in there to listen not watch I usually went for unofficial lyric videos just to avoid all the silence and noisy bits that come with music videos. That started going downhill when everybody started getting nuked by copyright claims. About half of them are either deleted or private now
I'm trying to take the Rage approach where I get the full video as unaltered as possible. That means generally getting the videos from the official channels so there should be no surprise privatisations
I know daylight savings cops a lot of flack, but the nights it ends are awesome. Extra late omega ultimate deluxe party night! Or if you're of the get off my lawn!/yelling at clouds age, it's a free sleep in! Unless you have kids, then you don't get either. Unless you ditch the kids, then you get both!
New 🟦🟨 episode tomorrow
First drops of rain here in Thornbury. Now stopped, for now.
10 drops here , clouds have brightened up
I only just woke up, but the ground doesn't look wet at all here
So Aldi has branded clothing (as in "Aldi" brand) limited edition coming next week. I assume there must be a market for it, since they wouldn't sell it if they didn't think people would buy it. But I'm left wondering whether there are going to be people lining up at opening for their chance to own an Aldi hoodie or T-shirt.
What sort of person buys this?
They have to pay me to wear their advertisement garb.
Is this going to be Aldi brand like anko brand T-shirts, where you wouldn't know unless you saw the tag, or is this Aldi brand like a Nike or Supreme shirt?
I'd consider buying them if they're plain and cheap, but I do not wear anything with visible branding, except shoes since there's not much choice there. But everything else must not have it's brand visible or I just don't wear it
I'd have a look at the shoes and maybe the brolly. Nothing else appeals. The shoes look fairly discreet.
I would probably wear the hoodie but I wouldn’t go to Aldi just to get that.
Had an appointment for an NBN tech visit yesterday morning, cause the internet in the place we moved into was shot. Mate came in at 830 in the morning.
He quickly determined it wasn't our box that's the problem, but a faulty thingamajig on the street post, but he didn't have the right parts on him. He had to leave, but he promised he'd get it sorted within the day. We were prepared to wait it out until the Monday, but mate came back on at almost 7pm on a Friday, just to get it sorted like he said, and sorted it he did.
Just thought that was so nice of him, and I really appreciate it. Gave him a drink early on, but wish I gave him more of it, and hopefully he doesn't mind all his work went into a night's worth of very bad Dota.
A beautiful day launching the new kids club at our neighbourhood house. We had almost 40 families join us and all the snags got eaten.
This was the first event I took a back seat on and I initially felt really guilty "leaving everyone else to do all the work" (even though my stepping back was planned and carefully negotiated, as I'm still dealing with mystery health issues) but the entire team remarked that it all came together easily as "many hands make light work" and for once we had enough funding to bring on the appropriate number of staff for the project!
The weather held out and I met so many amazing locals, I couldn't have asked for a better day.
And the timing worked out perfectly with the MRI I'd been scheduled for. Packed up after the event jumped on the bus, and got there at the exact right time.
Am I the only one who finds getting an MRI relaxing? It's an excuse to lie down and be still while zoning out and pretending I'm being faxed somewhere. The technician tried playing me some Muzak over the headphones and laughed when I asked her to stop because it was messing with my ability to enjoy the magnetic dubstep.
I just made the new daily thread because I went to bed two hours ago and thought it was 7am 🙃
I once had a nap and tried to go to work at 7pm. Got about half way in before brain clicked over.
