Logitech M570 I use it daily and the battery lasts for a month or more

Logitech M331. Wireless, good fit in the hand, and nearly silent clicks. Low pressure click too. I've used one at work and one at home for years now.

Loud-clicking mice irk me, as do ones that require some pressure to click. When you do it thousands of times a day, it matters.

It's also pretty cheap, like AUD$30 I think.

My keyboard of choice is Keychron K5SE incidentally.

Personally, I would recommend a tufted titmouse. I know, I know, you think it's actually a mouse, but it's not! It's a BIRD. They're super cute.

mx master 3. it's a little bulky and it costs $100 but it legitimately has like a 3 month battery life and it is well built with a high quality sensor, plus the gesture thing (doesn't work on Linux though).

I second this. It's the daily driver mouse I use and it's really comfortable.

I've had an original g502 since they first came out. Mine was a return that had been damaged, and other than some cosmetic damage (corrosion on the scroll wheel, rubber texturing worn flat, gamergrease stuck in the cracks), it has held up remarkably well for the past 10+ years.

I'd encourage you to get a budget model from a gaming manufacturer just so you can avoid getting a mouse with integrated acceleration or something stupid like that.

since people will probably search for this post later on, if someone you wants something for BOTH purposes the g502x (the lighter version) has been a godsend for me. I LOVE it
I don't think I've ever had it die on me even several years later unlike my Glorious model O which would die like every other day

I got a Logitech MX Master for general desktop use and am happy with it.

Good battery life, comfortable, accurate, and the multiple extra function buttons don’t get in the way. I like the motorized flywheel scroll and ability to maintain 3 bluetooth pairings (selectable via button on bottom)

I’ve used the same line for the last 10 years. I’m on my second one. First one lasted about 8yrs?
This seems to be the most recommended mouse, I couldn't tell if it was marketing hype or genuinely good. Seems genuinely good!
I've used two MxMasters over the last 10+ years and I couldn't be happier with them. I only replaced my first one because it was white and I couldn't really clean the rubber scroll wheel properly. The new one has a metal scroll wheel and is much better.

I am a big fan of the vertical mouse. Currently using the Logitech Lift and happy with it. I'm sure there are other ones that are great too but this is just what I'm using.

I'm on the vertical train, too, for reasons beyond my control and quite physically uncomfortable, unfortunately.
My current choice to split the difference between sore wrists and crappy performance is the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical. I wasn't sure about the shape at first, but I got used to it super fast and it's really comfy and fast enough for gaming.
Vertical mice do take a day or two to get used to for gaming, I kept pushing the thing sideways very slightly when clicking
Seconding a vertical mouse. I like Evoluent's mice, been using them for years.

Logitech G305

Wireless, simple, cheap (30 euros or so) and runs for half a year or so on a single AA battery. I used all sorts of fancy gaming mice for a good while, but if Logitech keeps making these I'm more than happy to get new ones when the buttons give up, which they always do eventually no matter the price point.

I just can't get behind logitech any more, ever since they started installing Logitech Download Assistant as soon as you plug in a logitech device in your system with out prompting, I have boycotted them ever since.

Pebble Mouse 2 M350s from Logitech. Silent clicks and works on three devices. Bluetooth pairing, no dongle. Low cost as well. It's also very small if packing it for travel is necessary.

I went for a three device mouse due to an elbow injury. I can be watching a video on my laptop and playing sudoku on my tablet without having to bend my elbow for long periods of time.

logitech trackballs are my favorite

the blue ball model is cheap and will work for a few years

the gray ball model is worth the extra cost and mine have lasted for a few years and don't show any signs of failing like the blue ball models do

Not OP, but I am considering moving to something similar for gaming because while I love my slimblade pro it’s just not great for FPS -especially since you have to overcome the inertia of the bigger ball to be accurate. However, wouldn’t a thumb ball be fatiguing instead of using all your fingers to flick the ball around?
Also how is the quality of the build? I specifically looked into non-Logitech for my last mouse because I went through two different g pro wireless that ended up having double clicking issues. I think my old g502 had those issues too, but I’ve since discovered that my hand is too small for a g502
- i play fps and lots of quick reaction keyboard and mouse games, my thumb never feels fatigued

- Double clicking issues after a lot of use is extremely common, due to the way mouse switches are made. There's a tiny little metal piece that holds the switch up, and with a lot of use the metal starts to deform and then it doesn't spring back up like it should. The good news is that if you want to, it's something that can be fixed with a bit of time, patience, some precision screwdrivers and some tweezers. You can replace the switch entirely if you're comfortable with a soldering iron, but if you open up the switch you can retension the leaf spring and get some more use out of it.

I've got both and the gray ball model is definitely nicer. It's got a wedge and a magnetic plate for picking an angle for ergonomic reasons. It generally feels nicer and has some neat things like a button for switching connections which is handy if you watch to use it with multiple computers. It also uses USB-C to charge (specifically the "MX Ergo S", not the "MX Ergo" which is the older version and used micro usb).
If you're new to trackballs though and just want to try them out, the cheaper model is perfect serviceable.
- Another vote for the grey one here. I used to have RSI and switching to a trackball has saved me. Now I only use a mouse for gaming and a trackball for everything else.
- I wish they'd include the free spinning scroll wheel on these models. Having used other models with this feature I can't to back to something without it.

I love my Logitech G502, which I'm sure you will see recommended anywhere you look because it's pretty popular.

I'm still using the wired version, but if I were to be in the market for a new one today, the wireless one would be the first I checked out.

At least gorilla marketing is up front and in your face. They're not sneaky about it like some other types of marketing which use surprise and creative interactions to generate buzz about their products.

Especially if it's Silverback Gorilla marketing.

My favorite is Lamzu atlantis mini. Shout out to endgame gear op1 for 2nd.

If you have large hands I can recommend the Logitech G305. Probably the most durable one I've had yet, pretty much every other mouse I've had before would develop some sort of issue after 1-2 years but the G305 has been working like new for close to 4 years now.

Conversely I had once of those but the buttons started double-clicking after about three years.

I like my Logitech G604. This may be unhelpful since they're discontinued.

My main selection criteria were:

Wireless
Standard-size field-replaceable battery
Both Bluetooth and dongle connectivity

It's been a solid all-around mouse as well as having the feature set I wanted. The rubber that covers much of the upper surface is starting to degrade though.

That is my all time favorite too. It just fits my hand perfectly, and I can't live without the programmable buttons anymore. So I bought two brand new ones on the used market when I found out they'd been discontinued. Still haven't found anything comparable on the market. The Razer Naga Pro comes close though.
- The Naja Pro uses a Li-ion pouch cell, though the Naja v2 uses AA. Neither fact is specified clearly on Razer's own website. It's not clear how difficult the Naja Pro battery is to replace.
  I hate this. It's not necessary to use a pouch cell rather than a field-replaceable cylindrical cell in the form factor of a mouse. I'm sure they'd prefer people just buy a new one when the battery wears out.

I got a Logitech G502X. Works good for my use case.

A certified hood classic for sure. I have one at home and one at work.

Elecom makes a range of devices, I haven’t tried any of their mice, but the huge trackball is excellent.

I've used Razer mice. Those were great to hold, but crappy quality. I use mousewheeldown a lot and have had their mouse wheels break on me twice.

Then I had a Steelseries one which had a weird issue with mouse presets. Not a big fan.

I used a cooler master mouse that outlasted those three. Note I use a Trust mouse that I'm pretty happy with and had at least outlasted my Steelseries one.

Trust used to be the cheap plastic feeling mouse that you didn't want, but now I feel that the build quality is about the same as the 'brands' probably are made in the same factory too.

Logitech tend to be good. I've had a Razer Naga for a few years and it has held up. Corsair let me down.

I'm not that picky, so I usually go for whatever Logitech I can find which can connect to a unifying receiver. That way, using solaar (Linux equivalent of that proprietary tool for pairing Logitech devices), I can use just one USB dongle for both mouse and keyboard.

I've used the wired equivalent of the Logitech g502 for a while, and my partner has the wireless one, I liked them as well. I've used Logitech, steel series, Razer and Saitek mice over the years, started with a Logitech G7, and there's a reason I went back to Logitech mice after using some of the others. Imo you can't really go wrong with one of their midrange models with a decent sensor, won't break the bank and found them fairly reliable.

As a bit of an alternate, I know you prefer wireless, but I've been using a Ploopy Mouse for few months now. I don't do online fps stuff anymore, but was great for FPSs (some boomer shooters mainly) and RPGs it's solid, been playing a lot of Diablo 2 recently and it's great. It runs qmk so it's customisable however you want, sensor seems decent and the entire thing is open source, designed for user serviceability.

+1 on Razer mice, I use the Razer naga pro and I love it, I HATE their software and open it as little as possible, but their mouse quality is pretty good for gaming.

I used to used Logitech, which has much better software in Windows and actually has 3rd party software that lets you customize buttons in Linux, but their switches on their mice go out so quickly. There is a know flaw with their switches and they don't fix it. IMO Logitech has lowered their quality quite a bit and stell kept their prices the same. The last mouse I got from them basically deteriorated in half the time of having the mouse before, and the only reason I replaced the other mouse was because the switches in it died.

I specifically got the Razer Naga pro because it's got optical switches that don't wear out in the same way.

Can't go wrong with the MX Master 3s.

tried Razer, Logitech and they just never felt right. got a new zowie (za13-dw) and it felt smoother, good weight and sensors, also no need for extra drivers. they make different shapes for different grips and hand size so you can find what fits. honestly one of the best mice I've used, up there with my old mx518

Well, I was gonna recommend the Razer Death Adder Elite, but they don't seem to make it any more. Maybe the Death Adder v3 or even the Essential? (The Essential is on sale for $20 on Amazon right now, it seems.) I see that the entire line is wireless now… not sure how I feel about that.

As for the why, I really like the way the mouse fits my hand, the wired Elite version has been a tank at home and at work for years now, and the only down-side I've encountered is that it comes with the lights in some stupid pulsating mode and you have to install the software at least once to turn that off. (It remembers it in firmware once you disable it though, so you can move it from computer to computer without having to disable on each computer.)

My partner and I have been using DeathAdder v2 Pros for a long while and it’s easily my favorite mouse in forever! The wireless has zero latency, it’s dope.

Both had the left click button start to die after a few years. Logitech is known for this being a common failure point which SUCKS because they have the best (IMO) mice that are wired/wireless, rechargeable/replaceable batteries, and accessible thumb buttons without having 20 on the side for a "gaming" mouse.

I tried the G502 but returned it because of crappy button placement. Also hate having a mouse that looks like it should be in one of the Tron movies

I just want ~4-6 buttons on the side for my thumb that I use for media controls, forward/back, etc. It's REALLY hard to find that - usually it's 2 buttons or like 30.

Right now I'm using the Redragon M811 PRO and like it. Feels a bit cheaper build quality but not fragile. It's much bigger than previous mice I've had which is actually a good thing for me, because I have big hands and didn't realize it would be more comfortable. I don't like the number of buttons on the side (a lot) but overall it's good for my needs and I won't feel like a chump if it breaks in a couple years, unlike how I feel like with the Logitech ones that are way too expensive to have such a well documented problem with switches wearing out.

Years ago I went for one in the cheaper end of "gaming" mice, I don't remember what brand, I could look it up once I get home.

The plastic springs of the side buttons broke after a couple months but with some macgyvering I fixed them easily enough and still works fine to this day. The least amount I ever spent on a mouse is the one that lasted me the most, so no complains.

The last mouse I purchased was an NP-01S Wireless. I have since moved on to trackpads, in that case I have a Kensington slim blade pro.

The big question you haven’t answered for any of us is how you hold your mouse and how big your hands are.

Both the mice I use are Logitech.

Marathon M705 in work. Bought in 2017 and still trucks away in my 9-5. Fantastic scroll and enough buttons for convenience. Batteries last seemingly forever.

M510 at home. Bought in 2022 and no troubles. Has done me well in the same non-competitive gaming role, but you might appreciate a few more buttons.

Both use the unifying protocol. Both are pretty cheap too.

Really wish Logitech would make a new/wireless version of the g600, I use it for work and all of the programmable buttons on the side are amazing for productivity. Cut, copy, paste, delete with the mouse is so handy

I swear by the Logitech lyft, I know it looks weird. But it just feels natural, give it a day or two and you'll wonder why every mouse isn't shaped like that. I know because thats what happened to me after I used my boss's mouse and then my wife when she used mine.

I tried using a wireless Logitech mouse the g305. Dead in a few weeks. I tried using the wireless steelseries Aerox 3 which only lasted a few weeks.

I ended up with SteelSeries Prime Neo Noir which is wired but has none of the issues I was having with the other mice. This would be my recommendation if you can stomach The Wire

I am very happy with my Glorious Model D- Wireless mouse. It's lightweight and sits perfect in my hand.

My use case is pretty similar to yours, and I would recommend physically going to a store and seeing whatever (Logitech, as others suggested) mouse feels best in your hand. I think your hand preferences are pretty personal and important and that's not something a stranger can assess for you.
