Ugh, I've been in a real slump because I can't get myself going with uni and it's putting me into an avoidable emotional spiral. Was supposed to meet a relative but they changed plans last minute, thankfully a friend happened to be coming this way and called to see if I wanted to hang out impromptu. Maybe drop by my place. Yay! Now I have some motivation to clean up and organise myself.
hugs , friends are the best 😘
Om nom lunch,
and also back in bed…
Oh my
Yum!
Don't need dinner after looking at that. Nom.
I love the way Gibson looks at me when I'm leaving to go somewhere at night on the weekend.
"Since when do you have a life buddy?"
My boys sit inside at the front door until I get home.
Pretty sure mine is happy to get a break lol
Thursday night: short PJs, just a sheet
Friday night: longer PJs, doona
Yep I’m in trackies and a hoodie today. Wtf summer?!
Just found out the birthday picnic I was going to today got cancelled due to the weather. And I baked muffins and a blondie slice yesterday to bring to said picnic. I now have to eat all of these delicious baked goods myself.
Muffins freeze so you can
As many as you want for as long as they last and they don’t go bad
I'm so sorry.
Ok haircut was worth it. Now, decaf, breakfast and back to bed. I left gibson sleeping under the doona.
Smart cat.
When I getting home last night, the neighbours dog was locked out the front of their place and trying to get in and pretty frantic. Good doggo for not running away.
But they have this nuts security on their front gate. So I pressed the intercom thing.. neighbour pressed a button in their house, then all of a sudden a loud alarm went off and 2 massive red lights started flashing for about 10 seconds. Felt dystopian af and scared the shit outta me for few seconds there. She's a lovely neighbour and was very appreciative, but man, that gate is nightmare fuel.
what? Door bells and intercoms are there to be pressed.
They had a break in a few years ago where thieves broke in whilst they were sleeping and stole car keys from their bedroom. So the dude went all out security wise. I think she may have pressed the wrong button to open the front gate initially and hit the alarm. Even though I was returning their pooch my first instinct was to run, doggo be damned heh. Definitely did what it was to meant to do.
The one time I locked my dog outside he sat on the porch and cried.
Yep, Crap Sleep Gamg Rep…
👊🏻
Aye aye
Reporting for duty.
Yup :(
We did it!
Now it's gotta sit there until 8:40pm then go in the fridge for 8 hours. Somehow.. the other 3 members of this household are going nuts about it lol.
It went ok with the guests today, she actually seems like a nice lady, very unpretentious. She has more than a few kids and they're lovely too, I mostly sat and chatted to them about stuff. The Minipeelers ended up liking them too. I'm often too embarrassed and ashamed to have people round to my flat because it's tbh a tiny shithole, with piles of stuff everywhere and not enough places to sit lol. We haven't got room for all the Lego, art stuff and general kids things. She gets it though, and I felt at ease with her. Then after they left I grabbed Miniest and she wanted to get a present for her bros birthday, so we went and did that.
Is that cheesecake? OMG I love cheesecake. It’s my favourite dessert
Yes, it's a Basque! Cheesecake is my favourite too. My first attempt at making it, but I had the Minipeelers there to offer guidance and help with mixing. Elder didn't mind helping to make his own birthday cake, I think he felt very invested in its success.
That cake looks perfect!
Looks absolutely delicious.
Yeah, it’s everywhere at the moment and leaves me very wary. It’s sad - the result of multiple failures of the safety net - but I think of my own safety. People can be unpredictable so I don’t like to go out unless there’s a very good reason.
First off, cake looks amazing!
About public transport:
I know how you feel and I'm a relatively tall, athletic-ish guy and it still puts me on edge. And that's without having kids with me.
If you can, try for your license. I got mine really late, and it's changed my life. I've had some really confronting situations on the train especially and even if I was the victor, my life would be affected in a huge way.
Someone poke me to get up and do one (1) laundry
I’ve got the lighter delicates on and then will do some regular clothes

On my way to get supplies for tomorrow night. Elder has chosen his birthday dinner meal, and it is my sweet plum and ginger chicken with jasmine rice. Then somehow I've got to take Miniest shopping for her present to her brother, bake the San Sebastian cheesecake and be there to help entertain guests. Yes, Mr P is having a mate call in with a lady he is seeing and her children 😳🤯 Any other Saturday would've been fine but now it's something I've got to fit in. No biggie, they won't be here very long. My living room looks like a hoarders paradise but I won't get/make time to get it tidy so stiff cheddar.
I think Mr P can get on the tidying and entertaining for his guests
Hoodie and track pants have been deployed. Have realised most of mine are getting thin and lacking in interior fluff. Think I’ll be hitting the shops for a ‘house clothes’ refresh when the winter stuff comes into the stores.
Using the dryer for the first time in months.
Old baby is cuddling.
The 3rd place (the role i wanted the most) are still interviewing candidates next week.
I've been transparent regarding other offers, so we'll see what happens.
Nap time!
I have marketed to my full satisfaction. Stocked for the week, well fed and content.
I will now chill at home listening to the rain
Can't sleep. Many sirens. Wrong sort of exciting.
It feels like there should be footy on tonight.
Agreed.
I’m going to be watching the indigenous vs Freo match at 7:30pm if I can.
Tinyest can now say “careful” after you say it. Unfortunately he continues to do whatever dangerous thing he was doing when you told him to be careful but he at least says “carful” whilst doing it.
My favourite was 'dangernous'!
I taught one of my boys 'Danger' and he was just walking around saying danger to anything that could potentially hurt him. Hasn't stopped him from doing anything actually dangerous
Gotta get motivated, but it's so nice just laying here. Had to get up around 3am to put an extra doona on the bed and now it's so cosy
I had a great day. Lil sleep in, wimdy walk and bird noticing. Saw a bunch of ducks and a heron and an egret and a few crested grebes ♥️ shopping done, sheets washed, nap napped. Haven't cleaned the flat yet but should have time tomorrow. Got sausages cooking and about to flop.
Somedays are just good days, ya know. Not all that often, but it's nice when it happens.
Now, do I put the heater on or the oodie on? Conundrum for our times. And two days ago I was sweating while sitting still.
oodie
Why not both?
Sitting here in the air on being totally unable to relate. I do remember wearing hoodies in summer, though.
Got my gym done nice and early, so I’m off to the market to hunt down a wild breakfast
I’m chipping away at Mt Washmore and did two loads to mostly clear Mt Dishmore. Also gave Melbcat’s fur a wipe down with a facewasher where she’d spat medicine on herself.
Craving chocolate but the one I like now seems to have milk in it… Guess it’s cocoa weather anyway
kudos, I don't know anyone who tries harder than you 😘
spent the past few months collecting vintage knits, summer and winter. Mostly 70s and 80s. Really hard to find good ones. Took out so many shoulder pads...lol
It’s so hard to find good quality clothes. Even the expensive stuff these days is often rubbish quality, the price is just paying for a name and not substance. It’s good the knits have been found by a person who appreciates them.
it's hit and miss
I just spent a fair bit buying a robe at peter alexander, it fit ok in the store but wearing it at home it's heavy and it doesn't sit right. I won't be wearing it 🤷♀️
It seems 2 out 3 new garments are crap , which I suppose is a good argument for buying good quality vintage
what?
Ugh… I think I planted everything way too late. I’ve just planted the pumpkins out and already the leaves are starting to fall.
I’m wondering if I should make that compost bin to dispose of the leaves but it requires buying a drill (which I would probably have to do in person due to parcel thieves) and then either getting the (expensive) outdoor bin delivered or trying to scrape out some time for someone to drive me to get it.
I could use a plastic tub I have but they’re a bit small and not uv safe so will crumble apart and leave compost everywhere.
And I wonder if I would even use the compost. Getting a bit discouraged about gardening. Lately it seems everything I do here just backfires and becomes more trouble than it’s worth. Also wondering if it will stay warm enough to properly rot things down if I start it now.
I could ask someone to pick up my order…
But compost bin to deal with leaves, yay or nay?
compost bin to deal with leaves
Yea I do. Some of the waxy leaves take a bit longer though. Is good stuff!
How many leaves to dispose of? A whole deciduous tree or just the odd garden prunings? If it’s not many, a zero effort alternative is just scatter the leaves around the garden beds. They will dry or rot depending on the weather, act as mulch for a while, and then breakdown into the soil. Natures compost, just like in real environments. If you have foodstuffs you want to dispose of, that’s different and composting is the way to go.
Quite a lot from an a-hole neighbour’s deciduous tree, also grass trimmings from invasive grass originating from another neighbour.
I could do that but it looks really messy and Karens try to report my yard
Urghhhhh i want to stay in bed but i have to get up and get a haircut :(
I made it but when i get home I'm going back to bed :((((
Last night I watched Judgement in Nuremberg again, for the 11th time. Time to get preachy.
This time I watched to see every single instance where an everyday person could have done the right thing and saved a person
to see what everyday people can do and what people really did.
This movie is real life, it was taken from transcripts, so these are real actions real people took.
So in little ways, and it all adds up to a big picture, many people did the moral thing and the legal thing. They refused to wear a swastika, they defended people who were attacked . They refused to falsely accuse people.
Where people failed, they did not do the moral thing and they did not follow the law. The police did not charge the attackers. People made false accusations. They made false judgements. Each instance adds up to a bad society.
the servants who said they could do nothing could have encouraged their son to be a conscientious objector. They could have protested the death camp, they could have resigned from working for a war criminal. Yes, it has a cost but the cost of not doing that was far far greater.
we must follow our consciences and remember that each small action we take reinforces our personal and social belief that each individual has value.
thank you for listening
do not give up being a good person, it is our greatest weapon against evil
what I mean to say, we don't have to do big things to fight, just being our good selves in everyday life is fighting , so we don't have to feel hopeless and like we can't do anything
Have found my house vendor trying to get rid of furniture on FB. If the place isn't properly empty tomorrow this could get complicated.
Post on the other site about this
Not sure if it applies though.
That lines up with what I know, thank you.
I believe no. Involuntary bailee is the term I'm aware of. Don't want the stuff or the headache.
Good night everyone, sweet dreams 😘
This coolth is wonderful! Got so much planned to do this weekend that I've been putting off cos hot weather. Have at it!
Needs more rain. Have the Igor make a speech
On it.
Alright I'm full of burger and keen for another nap.
Edit: i think I'm going vegetarian. 2nd time I've eaten meat with a big break between and I feel like shit.
Procrastination. I ought be packing. Instead I am turning a brick into a frog door stopper.
Tonight I am rewatching Return of the Jedi before I nervously dive into episodes 1 to 3 next week. Then a nice hot shower. I've showered in the morning my whole life, but I think night showering is superior for early rising. I dawdle too much in the morning.
When I had a job with early starts I would shower in the evenings. It worked well. Plus, there is something nice about being freshly clean and getting into bed.

same,
I bet I would sleep better too
Successful op & vinyl shopping on Sydney Rd today. Picked up a new vinyl and a couple of bits and pieces for my place. The Salvo’s closest to Moreland Rd was the best I walked into. Savers was in and out, way too many people in there.
I walked in that vinyl store, it seemed purely metal / punk focused in selection. I’m not in my metal phase any longer so I didn’t look around for too long haha.
The best vinyl store on the street (in my opinion) is Round & Round. I used to work almost across the road from it, loved spending lunchtime breaks sifting through their records.
I also walked past a record store bar that looked cool (Ringo Barr).
Dawnguard gives you crossbows! Though I prefer travelling light and using bound weapons, personally.
I also love to go wood elf archer. 😃
I tried going full Nord warrior so I'd pick the Stormcloak path. But I just hate the Stormcloaks and Ulfric. Even on my Nord build, I always go Empire.
Twelvies on the internet are so annoying
Chanced it and got rained on in the hills.
Man, Meyers-Creed Road is soooo pretty with all the ferns and it would have been gorgeous had I not been freezing my arse off.
Venom: The Last Dance was good. I didn't understand most of the storyline but I did appreciate the comedy. 4/5 hobbits
I have a love/hate relationship with popcorn.
There's a retro event on at Tallboy and Moose right now. We might go, but I'm taking the girlfriend to dinner and a show in the city, so timing will need to make it worth it
That was a really long catch-up but I'm kind of drained now and found myself alarmingly almost nodding off at times. I'm glad for it though, because it forced me to vacuum and tidy and clean the bathroom and give the kitchen floor a long overdue mop.
Kind of don't want to cook tomorrow because I'll have to clean up again sigh. But this is life.
Was so frosty outside with that cool wind! I'll be sleeping well tonight, I hope. Tomorrow I need to wake the fuck up. Do the ONE THING that is holding me back with commencing my uni fieldwork and cook and then go out on Monday to do it without feeling like throwing up because of the shame of procrastination.
Quick note on The Fountain :
Aronofsky is obsessed with making movies about obsession. In this case, a physician driven to find a permanent cure for death (and try to save his loving wife)
Thus far, it’s not my favourite in the Aronofsky catalogue ,however, there is a beautiful story here. It’s confusing initially but that isn’t a bad thing sometimes. The viewer is forced to either, make sense of it, or move on.
6.8/10 space bubbles
I got a load of dvds, including a few whole series, today. Looking forward to watching Easy Rider and other faves with commentary.
sadly, I think commentaries are just not a common thing for new movies anymore
I’m fan of Easy Rider as well🙂 I’ve seen it maybe 15 times? It’s weird haha.
15 ! I'm impressed, I've only seen it twice ...lol . This one has commentary by Dennis Hopper. 🙂
I got Singing in the Rain with commentary and The Bride of Frankenstein with a doco and commentary by a film historian. And loads of other movies too, most double disc sets and still in the wrapper. I'm pretty chuffed and excited. 🙂
Yep. I'm done with meat. My stomach is killing me.
Thank you :)
I only cut meat out because I was lazy and I can't believe how much better I feel. I'll try chicken tomorrow and see what happens. If it doesn't work out, then veggo it is!
Damn it!
I hate this bloody self service bloody nonsense at department stores, I didn't even notice the security tag! Can I get it off myself or do I have to take it back 😭 Edit:
I paid for it honestly! It's the Garfield PJs.Got any strong magnets (rare earth), check on youtbe. I think they just unlock.
Take it back, with the docket. The cashier will be able to remove the tag. The docket is essential.
yup, this happens all the time, the cashiers/help desk don't even question it
Ah dammit thanks 🙁
Be warned, you might trigger the beepers on the way in. Show docket if any staff question you.
A pair of needle nose pliers and squeeze the round bit. But if it has dye in it, it'll drip.
Probably better to take it back.
Dammit! thanks
Ugh… I forgot and washed new items in with others and it’s transferred a chemical stink to them. Almost all of that type of clothing and the most annoying for me to replace. -_- Trying to remove the smell with baking soda and vinegar.
To add insult to injury the new clothing isn’t all that great. It better not have ruined my usual stuff
I had to make a LinkedIn. I just scrolled my feed for about 30 seconds. These people are fucked up lol
A shrine to the cult of the corporation.
It's the average workers that post delusional nonsense im talking about.
I am sorry to say it too but if you are applying for jobs on there maybe stick to Simon until you get a face to face 😕 I have had the unfortunate experience of having to advertise jobs on there and there a known issue/scam/shitfulnes that you get a massive influx of applications (almost immediately) and they are random people from all over the world (many are likely using bots). So a name like Simon from Melbourne actually stands out as non bot-trash.
It sucks. I actually think linked in encourages it because it's free to advertise a job until the first 50 applicants then they pause it and want you to pay per job view (like 150 bucks a day).
Sorry I have been recruiting for my team so I am scarred the opposite way to you right now.
Totally get it. It's part of the reason I switched to Simon in the first place.
Sucks, but it is what it is.
