  • This is exactly out of Israel's playbook as well though, they attacked the very same hospital just within the week. "Restraint" towards Gaza? Last I heard there were over 6000 strikes launched by Israel, leveling whole villages, killing entire families. Over 2000 people killed inside Palestine after the first night of retaliation by Israel, striking numerous apartment blocks, hospitals and schools. I doubt anything will change your mind about the righteousness of Israel but I just want to point this out in case anyone thinks you have a good point.

  • If the inhabitants of the Warsaw ghetto escaped and murdered German citizens living around the ghetto, would you be pointing out this crime or would you think it more relevant to discuss the crimes of the Nazis in power, still going on? Israel has been doing this for decades. Even just the night after the attack by Hamas, Israeli airstrikes killed over 300 children.

  • If anyone has love for Jewish people, for any people, they should condemn Israel. You are wrong. This attitude has helped allow the slaughter of thousands of innocent people over decades. To condemn Israel is to have humanity. To support the Palestinian people's struggle for freedom is to support justice. I love Jewish people, I've studied the Holocaust, I've spent massive time studying Nazism, modern movements and the history. The actions of the Israeli government and the IDF must be stopped by all means necessary.

  • Israeli bombing leveled entire villages in Gaza and the West Bank on the first night after the attack, over 300 children were killed in just that night. They’ve destroyed numerous apartment blocks, hospitals, schools with airstrikes. They struck a convoy of refugees on a road specifically designated as a safe route for evacuation, killing 70 people in one strike, mostly women and children.

It doesn't matter what occurred before this, to point out the atrocities still on-going doesn't mean you are a supporter of Hamas, and within Palestine there are several militant and other political groups. To support Palestine doesn't mean you support Hamas or terrorism.

  • The difference is Israel still exists, holding Palestine back, it's not even about reparations but stopping the actions on-going today, not just about righting wrongs from the past.

  • I was with them until that comment. Israeli people might want that, but the action of the Israeli government has been the opposite. Funny they say 'stop being so one-sided' and say Israel wants peaceful rulers, like Palestinians don't want that also.

  • Small detail some might miss, one of the editorial board signatures is Ted Kaczynski.

    Brilliant paragraph:

“What of the tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians killed before this attack?” some may ask. Our response is simply that we aren’t going to engage with that because it would be too hard. We also won’t be addressing Palestinians living in refugee camps without access to clean water, electricity, or housing. Others may ask, “Isn’t it your responsibility to provide context, particularly on thorny issues such as this one?” To that, we merely say: No, shut up. You’re being annoying.

  • Couldn't this easily have been made up? It's a war, and one of the sides is saying "look at this proof we took off a body at how evil our enemy is, no there is no other proof, just this map we found." Propaganda is a key tool in war, especially during initial stages.

  • That is probably a part of why I do comment more here, I would see comment sections on reddit sometimes already with hundreds of comments and just felt like I was trying to slip into a convo that had already been well established or whatever, here I feel more likely to comment because the sections will be sparser and my comments will actually get replies from the users in the thread.

  • Is that how it is on .world?? On my instance and the ones I browse I find it to be ten times higher quality and massively less aggressive than Reddit.

  • Israel is dependent on foreign aid, do you think their allies wouldn't notice if they bombed and killed millions of people at once? There would be a response from other countries in the area as well. Even the Nazis took a lot of effort to hide the holocaust during the execution of it. Where in Hamas' founding charter does it state "we will commit genocide if we have the power."? And even if it did, Hamas is not the Palestinian people, they haven't had an election since 2006 and there are several other militant groups within Palestine.

  • Are you kidding me? You are saying the Palestinians don't care because they don't have an Iron Dome? Do you know how much money it costs to operate something like that? Israel has received billions of dollars through military aid from western powers, Palestinian people don't even have enough food or medicine and you expect them to build a multi-million dollar defense system?

  • Where in the definition of genocide does the attempt have to be successful before you call it genocide or try stop it?

  • It provided links to two videos posted on social media that it said show "155mm white phosphorus artillery projectiles being used, apparently as smokescreens, marking, or signaling". Both show scenes near the Israel-Lebanon border, it said.

HRW doesn't claim it was used directly as a weapon. IDF denies using it at all.

  • Is it possible Israel is able to kill more people because they are funded by western powers and use missiles, airstrikes, tanks and sniper rifles while Palestinians throw rocks and homemade rockets? And you are also saying a surface level observation which gives moral superiority to Israel.

  • The thing that sucks even more about it is no one even has to 'allow' that type of trash to run it, it's just what tends to happen if the profit motive is the main driver of people's behavior.

  • The government of Israel has literally helped fund Hamas to keep Palestinian people divided, they have admitted as much. Being against a government like that, that has committed atrocities for decades, and supporting the victims of these atrocities, the Palestinian people, is not antisemitism. I support the Jewish people, I have kindness and love for people of all sorts, and think that the slaughter of thousands of innocent people in their homes in response to a terror attack is wrong.

  • You can usually ask for more time with a book if that is a real deal breaker. That has been an option at libraries I've used anyway. Sometimes they can get books they don't have if you request them too. Some even mail them to your house. I'm not really trying to convince you or anything I just think libraries are awesome haha.
