  • Of course, I just have seen for many years the criticism of Israel shut down quickly by claiming someone was antisemitic. The message this post was about, talking about 'Jews' is clearly antisemitic, I didn't mean to imply it was cool or that antisemitism wasn't prevalent. What I was trying to critique was the OP's idea that the calling for a humanitarian ceasefire was inspiring further radicalization and antisemitism, which is ridiculous.

  • "The Nazis are killing Jews? Why would they put them on train cars then and have them work? Wouldn't they just shoot them or bomb them right there? I don't think it's really as big a deal as it seems." -American in 1940

  • What I'm saying is they have shelters in residential areas because they are bombed in civilian areas by the IDF, so they need shelters everywhere. It's not civilians as air raid shelters, the civilians are everywhere and they are bombed everywhere, there are too many people and too little space for there to be a large distinct separation between the military and civilians in Palestine. The militants are the civilians because there is popular resistance against Israel from Palestine.

  • Even if they go down hard in the votes, there are many people that fully believe this, and are dead serious about it. So I think it is still important to be on the lookout, because I doubt they will just give up if they lose a vote again.

  • Grow older and push for change? Palestinians have been growing older and pushing for change since 1948. Have you seen how the IDF responds when they have had mass protests? A massive key for change will be when tax dollars in the US stop funding IDF bombing. And in the meantime, the alleged 'command and control infrastructure' that was destroyed was likely a tower block holding dozens of families who are now dead or have no home.

  • That's true, I shouldn't imply that pizza can't be great without being so greasy hah, it depends on the style. I usually only have just cheese and sauce, the area I'm at is known for it's local pizza and it is usually very greasy, probably because they use quite a hefty amount of cheese, but it's excellent.

  • I believe them to have decades of experience managing their foreign advisors and funding, and are skilled at carefully balancing their war against an innocent and subjected people. You're probably right though that they could basically nuke Gaza and get away with it, but they wouldn't because the radiation would harm them too. In a war, isn't it relevant who started the conflict and for what purpose? Who was the first aggressor in the conflict between Isreal and Palestine?

  • It's like in 2020 people showing their garage door spray painted with "ANTIFA" and "Joe Biden Rulez BLM" or something, it's such a classic move to claim pro-Palestinians as antisemitic that it's cliche. Though you're right that it's not impossible to be a legitimate threat so it's good to be careful.

  • Really? Antisemitism just sprung out of nowhere a couple weeks ago? And Israel hasn't killed thousands of Palestinians for decades? What does the initial attack have to do with the ceasefire now? After 9/11, the US didn't just carpet bomb the entire country of Afghanistan. Israel is engaging in collective punishment, killing nearly 8000 people already. Gaza is small and dense, there is no where for the people to leave. Calling for a ceasefire is the only humane thing to do.

  • Can you think of a more obvious evil group than Nazis? I wasn't trying to say Israelis were like Nazis or anything, just that it was an obvious moral position. The position being, where there is something so abhorrent, violent and calculated for years causing untold horror, a group that is justified in their struggle may use methods you don't agree with in the desperate fight against that horror.

  • If a group used terrorism in their fight against the Nazis during WW2, I would shun terrorism but I would be a supporter of that group.

  • "Yuri is a Japanese media genre that focuses on intimate relationships between female characters, often with lesbian themes."

  • I mean support for Israel sounds like genocide apologia, and the 'jewish question' was a term used during the holocaust, so it wasn't much of a stretch.

  • Are those the only two possibilities? Is it possible they want plausible deniability while killing as many as they can? Israeli officials have made it clear that do not want Palestine to exist. The defense minister even called for a second Nakba, greater than the first, which was the original mass displacement of Palestinians.

  • You say "answer the question", as in the 'Palestinian Question'? Just admit you are advocating for a genocide, a wholesale slaughter of a people based on their nation.

  • It's often claimed that groups like Hamas and others in areas like Palestine use the proximity of civilians as cover to justify the collateral damage, but Gaza is densely populated and paramilitary groups are part of the civilians. There is no way for them to separate the populations. It's a well known tactic. https://progressive.org/latest/human-shields-excuse-war-crimes-zunes-210617/

PS Just want to add the extra fucked up aspect of looking up information and finding an article from two years talking about the horrific bombing campaign by Israel then, and how the information war is exactly the same now. Nothing ever changes.
