  • What does the ratio of civilians killed have to do with it when Israel has killed over ten to twenty thousand more since that day? It's like saying it would be okay to carpet bomb Afghanistan immediately after 9/11 so long as you hit a couple militants while massacring thousands. Whatever point you're making, Israel is an illegitimate terrorist state so it really is irrelevant, they must be stopped and the state dismantled.

  • I didn't disagree with the idea they could be seen as a state actor but there are many active groups in Palestine, it's not the same as an organization like the Nazi party. I don't understand what point you are trying to make. Are you trying to liken the Palestinian people to Nazis so that they can be massacred guilt-free?

  • That's probably true, but that's also the large majority of voters often so it can still represent something.

  • While it's clear there were civilians killed by Hamas on the 7th, even Israeli sources have shown evidence that a large number of civilians were mistakenly killed by IDF attacks, it is unclear how many people were killed by IDF. Also, many sources will claim any male between the ages of 16-40 (military-aged male) killed was a fighter without any further verification, so it's difficult at this stage to say with much reliability the number of civilians versus militants killed especially in a place like Palestine with an active guerilla movement.

Hamas seems to be more of an organizing force than a specific ideology that all of Palestine supports, many people see the struggle against Israel as a fight for their people's survival and have turned to more extremist measures because of the failures of all other methods over several decades.

How is it at all hard to complain about civilian deaths in any conflict unless you are heartless? No matter what some of their population does the majority of people there are just living their lives and are in large part children.

  • Hamas is not the only militant group in Palestine, they have conventional troops but the majority of militants in Palestine are guerilla fighters which are inseparable from the population. They are not fighting a conventional war with tanks, it is an asymmetric war in a densely populated urban area, using tunnels and ambushes. So even if the 'Hamas' government was removed, it's not the same as stopping a government like in Nazi Germany etc.

  • I thought it was surely just a joke but looking at the devices to the right maybe this was due to limited desk space?

  • You don't get these numbers without a complete disregard for civilian life, the rate they are killing average Gazans is astounding, they are only barely upholding a thin veil of plausible deniability.

  • Israel is an ethno-state, people fighting on behalf of Israel want to eradicate Palestinian people. This doesn't have anything to do with Jewish people in general. To conflate Israel with Jewish people is itself antisemitic.

  • Part of why the single use vapes are popular seems to me to be due to kids using them, they can toss it out so they won't get in trouble for having it, or if they do get it taken away it's just the one disposable instead of a reusable device. They also smell and taste like candy.

  • He has a disability/issues that he was sentenced to a hospital for, he can be released if he is deemed not a danger to himself or others, he was also physically violent apparently and they are giving him treatment in a secure setting. I don't know if the place he is going is good or anything about the treatment but it's not exactly a prison life sentence.

  • All the Anker bluetooth gear I've used has been great, better than the Beats or Sony product that was comparable but much more expensive for no added performance, maybe higher quality materials though as the Anker Life Q20s I had did fall apart a bit, but I used them a ton.

  • I don't have a jack, just USB-C and with the cable and adapter it's still much worse. If it was 3.5mm my phone would know it's just a stereo headset, but because I use have to use a USB-c adapter, it gets slightly loose and will pause the music, or play if it is paused, skip tracks, etc. The 3.5mm plug is ancient in terms of tech but still is the best plug format for headphones imo.

  • I don't mind a phone having one input, for audio and charge/data, it probably is a great choice from a production stand point. It is unfortunate how much less reliable the USB-C physical connection seems to be versus the 3.5mm though. I don't know if it's just me, but every USB-C device I've had eventually gets finicky with the connection, regardless of cable and cleanliness. My phone now using headphones with an adapter, if I move it much it will come loose and pause the playback. The 10+ year old phone I have with a 3.5mm jack though, I can swing it around holding the cord and it stays rock solid connected.

  • Do you have issues with keeping track of things like that in general? There are adapter keychains you can use to keep any on your keys. Or I've found having a specific place for things helps me, I used to lose my usb-c adapter but now I just always put it in the same spot when I am done using it.

  • I strongly prefer wired, in part due to the latency, though it's too bad your car has such bad latency because I have found that it can be essentially zero, maybe there is a setting somewhere you could adjust or firmware update?

  • I remember people saying it was funny how Han Solo had a wired headset when he flew, even though they have all the Star Wars technology, but I feel like even with amazing advances it will be hard to beat the wire anytime soon.

  • Yes I know, it was a facetious comment because anyone still supporting Israel appears to be in a different reality than I, and I see no point in debating this issue.
