  • The average amateur cyclist travels about 17-18 mph while on flat ground.

Even your own source disagrees with you 😂

I think you’re looking at the numbers for the top 0.1% of cyclists in the world when they’re competing…

  • Anyone got a suggestion for mouse and keyboard cutting out intermittently?

It’s a cyberpunk specific issue that lots of people have had, but none of the fixes I found worked :/

It’s actually driving me insane. Ruins most combat encounters and means that I’ll randomly mow people down while trying to drive round a corner…

  • Half was a ridiculous over exaggeration, but I see so much /r/crazyfuckingvideos and /r/fightporn, /r/imthemaincharacter is another awful subreddit.

Recently people were getting whipped up about that YouTube prankster who got shot, it was posted a ridiculous number of times.

  • I’d say it’s roughly my experience with Lemmy as well tbh.

There are some good discussions to be had here, but I don’t think they’re necessarily wrong about the issues, just a bit overblown.

I think Reddit’s far worse in general though. I think it’s gotten particularly worse over the past few years, it’s almost Facebook levels of people looking at stuff just to make themselves angry.

Half of the /all feed is about obnoxious people and fights these days.

  • It frustrates me how much the government is trying to start a culture war.

It really feels like the conservatives are just trying to manufacture this to distract from how much they’ve fucked the country.

I’m not saying those bigoted thoughts aren’t an issue in the UK, but I don’t think the average person really feels that strongly about the topic.

  • It’s very difficult to notice that it’s happening to you sometimes.

It wasn’t until my mid twenties that I noticed every single thing I say my mother seems to instantly try to take the opposite side and tell me I’m wrong, purely because it’s in her nature.

That level of negativity combined with a hair trigger for screaming, and she wonders why I don’t talk to her about absolutely anything 🤷‍♂️

  • Hmm, okay, sounds like focusing on the bits you do end up saying is going to help.

Maybe ask your manager or someone to give you examples of when you’re being disruptive and how to approach it differently next time.

I know that’s a bit awkward, but if you fundamentally don’t understand what you’re doing wrong then you need external feedback.

  • I also have that issue, so I try and focus on not going too far down the rabbit hole if it’s not relevant.

If I’m speaking to my boss I’ll say:

“This happens because of that, I’m gonna fix that”

    As opposed to:

“What’s happening is X does Y, then Z occurs. That’s because of the A and B not being quite right, because B is blah blah blah. I thought about trying option 1, but that doesn’t work because blah, option 2 doesn’t work either because blah, but option 3 works because of blah blah blah.”

If they don’t need that info, then you don’t need to share it.

  • It sounds like you’re taking “over participating” to mean that you’re getting involved in too many conversations, when it actually sounds like you’re just dominating any conversation you get involved in.

It doesn’t matter that you avoid 90% of conversations if you’re still disrupting any that you do get involved with.

The key to being good in conversation is to actively listen and nudge other people to carry on talking. It sounds like you’re just waiting your turn then talking about whatever you feel like.

I don’t have any specific advice, except that you should probably focus on what you do say, as opposed to what you don’t say, if that makes sense.

  • It’s hilarious, but is also the exact sort of thing that will get thrown in their face if they ever do anything shitty in future.

Kinda like Google’s “Don’t be evil”

  • I’d say they’ve really got the game to a good place at this point. In ways it still isn’t perfect, but if it had been like this at release then people would’ve absolutely loved it.

It’s something I think about for quite a lot of open world games, but it always seems like a waste that companies just move on from building up a game.

Really feels like they could spend years just adding to the world they’ve built.

  • I’d say in this instance there’s a massive difference between CS and OW tbh.

I can believe that you could do well and enjoy OW on controller vs M+K, as the game gives you a lot of tools that reduce the need for good aim.

In CS, I just can’t see how you’d work around that though. To each their own, but I don’t see how CS could ever be enjoyable on controller vs K+M.

  • You’d have to be a masochist to actually play this on steam deck or with any controller.

Unless they have some sort of “steam deck only” matchmaking, but even then it’s just not made for controller.
