  • Tbf, market indicators don't mean shit to people with stagnant wages who have seen 20% inflation over 5 years. Of course, that doesn't mean that Trump is going to fix anything but it's hard to blame stupid people for not noticing those indicators when they are specifically designed to exclude the average person's financial situation.

  • The heat could dry out your skin, which, if I'm not mistaken, is essentially what a burn is. However, as the other person noted, a sunburn is damage from radiation, not heat. So I think you could stretch the common definition of a burn to call heat induced dry skin a burn but calling it a sunburn would not be accurate.

  • I understand that things are happening. I've been to some of those protests and seen the people making a stand firsthand. It's certainly not nothing. I'm just saying that the response we've seen so far is what I would have predicted for his first term. We should be making a bunch of fascists a foot shorter by now.

  • I doubt it. We've already tolerated a near complete collapse of the rule of law and masked goon squads kidnapping people in the streets. Disappearing one more brown guy probably isn't going to move that needle much.

  • Yeah let's get rid of them, especially the liberal justices, so they can be replaced by... Donald Trump?

Say what you want about Kavanaugh but I'd be willing to bet he'd look like a Boy Scout compared to whoever Trump would nominate today.

  • In the context of defending our country from the ongoing fascist takeover, Democrats being too stupid to understand that they need to do something about it might be worse than actively supporting it so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

  • It's certainly possible that I have missed some news on the subject but last I heard they had not matched the aid that was being provided under the Biden administration. I hope you are right and that has changed.

  • That doesn't mean he'll get to do what he wants. He loves playing golf and sexually assaulting women. Soon enough he won't be able to force his body to do either of those things. Of course he'll live better than most but he still can't bully old age and that's a fact that I look forward to watching him confront.

  • He's an 80 year old man in increasingly poor health. Wherever he goes after his presidency, if he even makes it that long, he won't be able to enjoy his life the way he wants to. I find some small measure of comfort in that thought.

  • Sure, I'm not saying they're doing nothing at all. But are they doing enough to replace the resources and manpower historically provided by the US in these kinds of situations? I don't think so. Is there a politically viable path for the EU to get to that point? That remains to be seen.

  • If the world wants that to happen they have the perfect opportunity to step into the policing role in Ukraine. I'm not sure the EU has the political will to do so to the degree that is necessary.

  • I wondered about the same things you did when I saw this but I agree with that other guy too. The response of a rational person is to look for the logic in everything but Trump is an irrational being. Despite 10 years of his bullshit I still haven't fully trained myself to expect him to be irrational all the time. It's too counter-intuitive to stick that deep.
