  • What does it mean to own this result? Getting voted out of congress, which is more than most are likely to get, ends with a cushy corporate job and at least hundreds of thousands more dollars than the people they are fucking over. Even in the best case scenario accountability is a fantasy.

  • You're arguing from an informed and logical perspective. That's not how modern elections work in the US. Voters didn't know or care that inflation was worse in other places. They knew they were getting fucked in a back alley and Biden wasn't helping them put their pants back on. That's really all there is to it.

  • What was inflation like during Biden's presidency? I agree that Biden did some good things but framing him as fantastic is a bit much, especially to the average person who doesn't give a shit about most of the stuff he did. American voters are supremely selfish and Biden didn't do much for them, at least not in an immediately visible way which is what he needed to do.

Just look at what's happening now. There's tons of bad things happening currently that I would call highly visible and polls consistently show that most Americans have no idea that any of it is going on. Biden made some solid efforts but almost none of it spoke to people on a personal level and that was his big failure. He thought Americans were paying attention when he needed to go out and grab their attention.

  • Maybe keeping in a geriatric neoliberal long enough to skip a primary and force a candidate no one voted for down our throats wasn't the best choice. Obviously Trump is worse than Harris but if the goal was to drive turnout then the Dems behavior pre-election is about the worst possible strategy I could think of.

  • I think I agree with her concept, just not the food group. I wish it weren't so but I'm starting to think that only death will separate the MAGA crowd from their collective insanity. If it only impacted them that would be one thing but it's impacting the whole world.

  • It would seem that by "tyrannical government" most of us actually meant "non-whites".

More directly, I would guess the people who are in a position to do something, like myself, would prefer not to be the only one showing up against a militarized police force and federalized national guard troops. Armed resistance isn't widely viewed as necessary even though I would argue we're past the point where it should have been widespread. Perhaps holding that belief and not engaging in such methods makes me a coward, I'm honestly not sure. I do know that I see a lot more sentiments like "where are the armed leftists" than I do "how do I join an armed leftist organization" and I don't think we're going anywhere until that changes. Everyone, myself included, is waiting on someone else to step in and stop this rather than deciding that it's up to us to do it ourselves.

  • The comfortable will never rebel. No one is going to give you those things and we can't build them without dismantling the current system. You're going to have to get supremely uncomfortable in order to give others the possibility of having those things at some indeterminate time in the future or face a dystopian future so bleak that it will make The Hunger Games seem like a fun vacation. Either way, comfort is rapidly fading from the picture.

  • You're not wrong, but billionaires are just as easy to kill now as they ever were. If you can't take the money away from the planet destroying psychopath, take the planet destroying psychopath away from the money.

  • Clinton / Harris did not lose because they were women. They lost because they either were a neoliberal shitbag (Clinton) or could not convince people that they were not a neoliberal shitbag (Harris).

We elected a black man after years of people saying America was too racist to ever do that. There are a lot more women in America than there are black people, and it turns out that running as a progressive is pretty popular.

We don't need to play this stupid guessing game about what genitals or skin colors will win elections. We already know the policy positions that win elections we just categorically refuse to run on them.
