What moral quandary? No one but pedophiles complains about the fact that age minimums for certain activities exist. Cognitive function is a bell curve and old people are on the back end of it. That's just a fact of life. What is controversial about it?

Apparently not. The world would be a much better place if we all stopped making such a big deal about specific trigger words and focused on the ideas being communicated. If someone's intent was to be an asshole then sure, get the pitchforks out, but make it clear it's the idea that's bad. Don't just scapegoat the word. If they weren't obviously trying to be a dick then calibrate your response accordingly.

To put it another way, if you're upset about the use of a word that a scientist might use to describe something then you're probably being overly sensitive.

That accurately describes just about every industry and business in America. MBAs are the most overrated educational path in the world. The characteristics of a leech in human form.

If a server gets enough boosts they can add largely useless extra stuff like more custom stickers and emojis. There's a few legit benefits like higher quality audio / video and being able to create a custom server invite link but it's mostly fluff.

Tom did it right. He is what all social media execs should have been (afaik, he may be a terrible person in secret but all evidence I've seen points to the contrary). He built a popular site, made his money, then fucked off into the sunset without trying to ruin society for a bit more money.

Commerce is not what people are critical of. It's the fruits of commerce and how they are distributed. Those who have almost nothing to do with commerce reap all the rewards from it. It's those profit-takers who are protected by the courts. The business entity itself is just a convenient way for them to obfuscate the process. They're run by people who get better treatment because they have money and they only have money because for some reason we've collectively agreed that the people doing the actual work don't deserve the fruits of their labor.

Biden isn't terrible compared to his peers but his peers have all been sucking the same corporate dick for so long that no one young enough to know what Lemmy is have ever experienced anything else. I'm very aware of the context. For my entire life Democrats have spent more time talking about building coalitions with racists or pointing at their token centrist progress blocker than they have doing anything useful. Say what you like about Republicans but they get their horrible shit done when they have the chance and they don't give a fuck about decorum or tradition and their voters love them for it.
