  • Democrats know that progressives win elections. That bit of knowledge being lacking is not the issue. The problem is that they are not a progressive party. They would rather do everything in their power to kneecap progressive candidates than allow them to have influence in the party.

  • Do you honestly believe that there is anything that could be written in that report that would make a difference? I don't even mean something plausible. I mean literally anything. Because I don't. It could say that Trump invented time travel and used it exclusively to help Hitler kill more Jews and nothing meaningful would happen. That has been proven over and over again and yet we're still constantly hearing "yeah but this time it will be taken seriously".

  • I saw the Mueller report and I would call that a waste of money as well. As the poster above said, if there are no consequences then it's all just theater. There is no shortage of publicly available information about how much of a shit bag Donald Trump is. The posterity argument is as hollow as this sham of an investigation was.

  • It's not their fault in the sense that Harris was a bad candidate or Biden was a bad president compared to his peers. They were both fine but they largely stuck to early 2000s platforms (or at least could not overcome that perception) and people clearly want something different. Many can tell that the trajectory of the past isn't going to work out for them. Trump isn't a good response to that but Democrats are perceived to be categorically opposed to acknowledging the sentiment and adjusting course. It's not exactly rational but it is understandable that people in a bad spot aren't particularly concerned about things getting worse because from their perspective things are already pretty bad.

  • I don't think that's true, at least not to the degree that he expected to win outright. I watched his speech on the night of the election and he seemed legitimately shocked that he won. I think those people were put in place for the court cases he was planning for after he lost.

  • What moral quandary? No one but pedophiles complains about the fact that age minimums for certain activities exist. Cognitive function is a bell curve and old people are on the back end of it. That's just a fact of life. What is controversial about it?

  • Apparently not. The world would be a much better place if we all stopped making such a big deal about specific trigger words and focused on the ideas being communicated. If someone's intent was to be an asshole then sure, get the pitchforks out, but make it clear it's the idea that's bad. Don't just scapegoat the word. If they weren't obviously trying to be a dick then calibrate your response accordingly.

To put it another way, if you're upset about the use of a word that a scientist might use to describe something then you're probably being overly sensitive.
