  • Because it has become fashionable not to hide it.
Evil has always been winning. The early homo sapiens attacked the Neanderthals. They kept them as slaves and raped the women. (At least that is the current theories, no one "really" knows the specifics other than they "won"). It is in the nature of homo sapiens to get ahead by exploiting others. It's why they win, and why we have the technology and such we have today. A person with less morals to constrain them will win out over a moral person. I think our only realistic way out is to let AI take over. But I don’t see any reason why it won't come to the same conclusion, and then exploit us even more. But one can hope.

  • I think it is fair to say that the two are not the same. The trump thing probably had millions of views. They didn't have to look hard to find it. Now I agree, they need to do better with moderation that involves kids, especially. Such things should actually be stopped before they are even posted. But I am not going to ding them for taking quick action on something that was brought to thier attention.

  • Remember, he is only immune for official acts. And the courts reserved the right to determine if an act is official. I think they could easily say that openly defying the courts ruling is not an official act. They will wait for something bigger I suspect, but the supreme court judges love power just as much as trump. They are probably excited by the prospect of expanding thier power by giving trump the boot.

  • I play things like satisfactory, tf2, portal, doom stuff. But I am too old to play anything where reaction time really matters all that much. Like tf2 I only play mann vs machine now. My monitors are just 144hz. Nothing too fancy. Though I do have 2. And I forgot about VR. I want to get one, but I have no idea if linux supports them or how much the graphics card matters these days.

  • This is the truth of it. Picking up $100 bill off the ground in public that isn't yours isn't actually illegal. And what trump is doing is attempting to stretch the powers of his office. This isn't anything new really. Just how he is doing it, how much and how fast is new.

  • Which laws. Cause I haven't seen any quoted anywhere. And, they only gave him immunity for official acts. Then said they (the courts) get to decide what an official act is. Lastly, they did not take away congress's ability to prosecute him in the form of impeachment.

  • What was illegal about what musk did? Be specific. On paper he is "working" for the president, and my understanding is that the cabinet members in charge of the various agencies gave him the go ahead to do what he is doing. Both of those are directly or indirectly elected officials charged with running the executive branch of the government. My take is that congress has depended on gentleman's agreements rather than passing laws to ensure the agencies aren't tampered with like is happening now.

  • Why would I want to make myself sadder. Lol. It's kind of like deflatgate in American football. If you take top people in any profession, and put them in a competition with a serious reward, they will always try to "stretch" the rules in thier favor any way they can.

  • What is the legal argument against this? The article was paywalled, but the summay only says that past presidents have respected agency independence. That sounds like just a gentlemans agreement. Nothing legally binding. So do the challenges have a leg to stand on?
