  • It's really wild to me, tbh. The military is what made me as Progressive as I am. My father served as well during Desert Storm in the USMC. He traveled around too. Yet I grew up in an extremely conservative household.

I wonder what yours says when trying to reconcile their own cognitive dissonance. It wasn't that long ago that we were actively against Russia FFS,

  • Bruh I got into such an intense argument with my parents because I defended the BLM protests. They came at me hardcore for "violence" and "destruction of property". I asked them what the hell protestors were supposed to do to draw attention to their cause, and they told me that they would have respected a "peaceful protest".

I then pointed out the fact that Colin Kaepernick's career still hasn't recovered, and that they themselves haven't watched an NFL game since then...so no, they wouldn't. My dad then of course whipped out his favorite "insult": "Fucking Liberal", and then proceeded to tell me that I have no respect for the flag.

The inability for them to think critically is absolutely astounding.

  • You're right. They are the ones platforming these types of people.

I'd like to hope that enough of them would hear something like that and be like "Gross, I want nothing to do with the likes of this fucking asshole", however, unfortunately, I do not know that this would be the reality. Which is an absolutely mind-boggling statement to make.

  • From the article: "Also in 2022, a Michigan Republican candidate said he told his daughters “If rape is inevitable, you should just lie back and enjoy it.”

I do not think I've ever read a statement from someone that has pissed me off so fucking quickly. Someone needs to check on this man's daughters and fucking take them from him, forcibly if necessary, ASAP, and then put them with a family who legitimately loves them.

    FUCK I HATE THIS TIMELINE.

  • I've heard the theory that porn these days is so over the top and intense a lot of the times, that you can just turn off the sound to step porn and get more moderate, missionary, "plain" style porn if that's your jam.

I have zero opinion either way, as I read my porn, this is just a hypothesis I've heard 🤷‍♀️

  • I really, really hope so.

But remember, Greg Abbott started all this bullshit back in 2021 when he pushed his 6 week "heart beat" ban, and it went all the way up to SCOTUS to determine if it was viable.

Then Texas elected him to Governor again. So I'm not holding my breath.

Texas simply does not gaf about anyone who isn't a rich white heterosexual male.

Texas is the State of Hate.

  • No, I'm white as white can be. I know that's the reason but I'm just flabbergasted that this kind of racism can still be so blatant in 2024.

Ugh. I really do try to be the "I love humanity" person, but this story in particular just disgusts the fuck outta me.

I wish the George family would open a gofundme for legal costs because I'd kick some dollars their way in a heartbeat.

  • I still CANNOT believe he chose to phrase his justification like that.

One of the things we're supposed to have is freedom to express ourselves however we see fit so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

My parents have a huge "Fuck Joe Biden" banner on the front of their house, and the county hasn't stepped in to be like "You can't have a two foot tall 'Fuck' on public display", and yet this guy gets in trouble for wearing his hair in a manner that's comfy to him???

I shouldn't be shocked because I live in Texas, however, I am. Maybe I'm not cynical enough.

  • Also, desperate, neglected, unwanted children have less of a chance of going to college and pursuing "better" career opportunities later in life. Theres just too much stress associated with the simple act of living. They'll always have to rely on the state for assistance, which means they'll always be driven to work the jobs no one wants for a pittance, just to be able to survive.

Make no mistake, the anti abortion politicians aren't doing this out of any "respect for life" or whatever, they just want to keep the working class populated, so they can keep making money off the backs of an uneducated, exploited population.

  • It was also repealed by a Democrat, don't forget that.

And I actually was serving while DADT was a thing. Most of us on the Enlisted side rolled our eyes at it, because we thought it was dumb af to even have it at all. None of us (in my circle of friends anyhow) cared who wanted to bone who so long as it was all consensual.

I had a very close friend who was gay, and we served in Okinawa together. He actually came out TO his leadership to get his discharge because the mission over there was brutal on the workers (aircraft maintenance). Pretty much everyone knew he was, but leadership wouldn't make a move to kick anyone out unless you were actively like "Hey, I'm gay" straight to their face. And when he told his First Sergeant, the guy was like "Airman _____, are you sure you want to be telling me this?" Basically giving him an out to rethink.

He was a solid worker, just couldn't handle it anymore. And he was not dishonorably discharged. It's been a few years since I've heard from him, I should actually give him a holler and see what he's up to.

Anyhow, I say all that to be like, yes, DADT needed to be repealed, just like the trans ban needed to be repealed. But at the time, DADT really was setting the groundwork for many gay rights victories.

  • Ya got me. I'm defending blanket "racism".

Clearly you and Maalus do not have the cognitive abilities to understand why a "racist" joke against a white person is different than a racist "joke" against a POC, and I've already highlighted the nuance between the two.

Or you do understand the difference and you want to victimize yourself anyhow.

Either way, you do you, I'm not engaging anymore. Have a good day.

  • You do realize that based on a societal level, this joke is punching UP and not "down", which is why it's completely okay to poke fun at white people.

Unless you're not in the United States and white people in your country don't hold the majority of powerful positions, then I guess maybe I can see why you'd be upset?
