Welcome to the Melbourne Community Daily Discussion Thread.
Shit, housemates cat has cognitive heart failure... I feel so sad for them, we got our cats at the same time and we've shared since they were kittens so it's heart break all round.
congestive perhaps
and lot of hugs
Old mate next door (he has a few screws loose) is cutting his lawn on his knees with hand shears again.
I've tried to lend him a mower but it's his thing.
If it sparks joy then who am I to say anything.
Just a bit unnerving to see/hear someone do that for a few hours when it'd take 5 mins max with manual push mower.
Wait, you're supposed to cut that stuff? I just assumed other people had special dwarf varieties that were better behaved than my rampant tree climbing kikuyu.
I wish my neighbour would use shears instead of his mega loud mower. Still takes him a few hours though.
It's like a really big flat bonsai!
Today's ride to work is in a Tesla! It's a fancy car but I still hate Musk.
@landsharkkidd @bot001 for what? Freedom of speech and academic, professionalism?
Freedom of speech as long as you don't criticise him or disagree with him. Not exactly freedom is it now?
And hard to apply professionalism to him, as he's essentially a rich toddler throwing tantrums.
Not sure what his contribution to academia is to be honest.
Freedom of speech doesn't have to stop people from hating you. Enabling transphobia is worthy of all of our hatred. Opinions on trans people are invalid. We just are who we are. Fuck him and his dirty money. My old boss had a tesla. I called it the big ipod on wheels. He wasn't impressed.
I guess the Musk bots are out in full force.
Not even going to humble you with a response. Go back to licking his boot.
Image of a bowl of firecracker chicken, beans, spring onion, chilli flakes and rice.
It was really good guys. Really fucking good.
Meetings at 4pm are bad enough, but you know what's worse?
When some fuckwit actually says 'Hey can everyone please turn their cameras on so we can see you all'. They said it with waaay too much enthusiasm for a 4 pm meeting, or any meeting for that matter.
My workplace forgot to issue me a camera and I haven't bothered to push the issue. Maybe it's time for your camera to break and for IT to drag their heels on a replacement.
I just got a new laptop not long ago. Do not want to go back to the old one while this one is being 'fixed'
I'll just keep the camera on and not pay attention as usual.
My old team had 5pm stand-up's.
Fuck me, I hope that included standing in the lift or on the train.
I'd activate my avatar (this is in Teams, not sure if other apps have similar)
We use Teams, I just put on the most obnoxious background possible.
Just had a look at the rent prices in Port Melbourne, and now I'm going to go throw up. If I had $4k to spend on rent per week, I wouldn't be renting 😭 😭 😭
It’s a wealthy area, gentrified decades ago. You’re not gonna find cheap rent there. Try for the surrounding areas or further out.
You know that thing where your brain tricks you into thinking your phone is vibrating in your pocket? I keep having that feeling that we're having another earthquake. I feel the earth. move. under my feet.
And feel the sky tumbling down
Holy shit Mrs B’s car problems have finally been identified!!! Even better it’s under warranty. Glad I didn’t just drop it and let her keep driving it, cause they said eventually it woulda gone bang.
I must admit I read that as 'cat problems' the first time - and got increasingly concerned when I read the bit about 'under warranty' and 'dropping it' - until I got to the bit about driving! Upon re-reading, it made a lot more sense.
Nah our cats are fine with being problems, sadly we can’t do much about that short of a personality swap haha
What was the problem in the end?
A bad sensor. That’s all it took apparently.
@Duenan@aussie.zone check Ur DMs friend :)
I'm cooking a soup which got me thinking about the quirky but practical little things I do and I'll share them with you.
Onion. I hate when all the little foliage shit from the root gets on my chopping board so I place a piece of paper towel on my board, I cut the onion in half on the paper towel, peel it leaving the bits on the paper towel, move my 2 clean pieces of onion to the non paper towel covered board and chop it up. Discard the waste. I don't use my fingers to peel the onion I basically whittle it off with my knife.
Eggs. When I peel them I lay paper towel down in the sink and all the shell goes on the there and then I discard.
Garlic. When you use garlic cut the clove in half and you'll find a green shoot in there, discard it. It's bitter and it's the difference between a good garlic sauce and a shit one.
Maybe you could share some of your tips.
Have a ripper fucking day everybody and don't forget it's NATIONAL WINE AND CHEESE DAY TODAY
I assume most people know this; to prevent a pot from boiling over, put a wooden spoon across the top. No more messy stoves!!
What I do is if my pot lid is doing a little dance I move the lid off a little and that stops it from boiling over.
My mum brought me up with the habit of always laying out a piece of newspaper or other unneeded paper (eg paper bag torn flat) on the bench before food prep. You'd pile all the trimmings, peelings etc on that as you go (e.g. peeling the onion or taking out the root over the paper, or doing it on the chopping board then immediately sweeping the bits onto the paper without necessarily having to lift the whole board). Then at the end you just package up the waste paper and put the whole lot directly into the bin/compost. Uses up waste paper, doesn't take up chopping board space, self contained, doesn't require an open bin (and all the smells associated with it).
My mum would quiver at how I cut onions now, but I picked this up from a housemate: I cut the onion in half, skin on, and then peel it and remove the root. It is 500000% easier than peeling a whole, intact onion.
I also use my knife to peel the onion especially as I grew up with shitty onions where the top half of a layer would be papery and the other half fleshy, so I'd use the knife to score off the papery bit and discard it.
Thank you for your tips - I did not know that about the green part of garlic and will definitely chuck that out next time I come across them!
I leave the root on because it gives me something to hold onto while I'm dicin' or slicin'.
Fully endorse the paper tray/wrap trick. Do something similar myself. I have an old crappy colander in the 2nd kitchen sink, lined with a piece of paper towel. All peelings go in there, plus tea leaves tea bags, coffee grounds, egg shells (crushed) cooked & raw bones etc. If it was once alive, it goes into the colander. Once a day the contents are wrapped up and taken out to the compost heap and buried in the top layer. Top layer of compost heap is mostly grass clippings, which are very effective at removing smell. When compost is turned (after mowing), all the paper packages get broken up and mixed in and a new hat of clippings goes on top. The worms love it.
I don't peel garlic much - just smash it flattish with the flat of my heavy kitchen knife, then slip off the skins and chop/pound it smaller. Only peel garlic if I'm using the whole cloves, and do this by snapping off the dry lid where the garlic meets the bulb, then pulling off a strip of peel from there and the rest of the clove is easy from then on with a thumbnail.
Also fully endorse washing knife in hot water, then drying immediately and putting it away in a wooden knife block. I also sharpen it with a steel immediately before food prep, and get it professionally sharpened when the steel isn't enough. Sharp knives are safer than blunt ones. Especially if slicing tomatoes or anything slippery.
Capsicums, I hold the fruit upright with the stalk end on top, and slice off the cheeks all around, then toss the stalk, middle and base into the colander in one piece. Most of the seeds stick to the middle section and any on the cheeks can be rinsed off or ticked off with the end of the knife into the colander. If roasting caps, I will cut around the stalk, twist and remove the middle bit that way.
I don't peel spuds usually. Not even for mashed potato. Pumpkin is easily peeled once cooked - raw is another matter. Just steam pieces for 10 mins then the hard skin slips off easily.
There's a wonderful product in jars that is a 50/50 mixture of minced garlic and minced ginger - I use this for curries to combine the fried spices into a curry paste - bloody wonderful stuff and I strongly recommend it. When I see it at Aldi or Colesworth I stock up. Can be used to make a nice variation on garlic bread too.
Quirky kitchen thing : I store tomato sauce in cupboard but BBQ sauce is in the fridge. What’s that about ? lol.
You are a rebel. Um It's written on the bottle as to what to do with it.
Tomato sauce is made with vinegar and sugar and should be shelf stable. Even so I put mine ( home made ) in the fridge
I cut the ends off onion (without cutting in half first) and spend 5 minutes trying to peel it in one clean piece.
5% of the time it works 100% of the time.
My mother could testify to your statistics except she refuses to admit that it's the clearly inferior way of peeling an oñon
Punch a hole in the "blunter" end of the egg before you boil it. Can just use a tack to do it. The water gets in between the shell and the white and makes peeling so much easier.
Onions, I peel by hand (it's meditative for me, even if impractical lol), I pull off the dangly root bits, chop the top off and then chop in half. Can slice and dice from the halves, and then discard the root. I like leaving it on as it keeps the onion together when dicing heh
\
If you are sensitive to onion (as in you get tear-gassed), I found wrapping a wet facewasher or teatowel around your mouth and nose helps heaps.
Never knew the garlic thing! Will try it next time!
I use a small knife to chop out the stem of a capsicum, then pull it out. I then fill up the capsicum with water and wash out the seeds, then chop up. I just hate the seeds sticking everywhere.
Home pizza (pita bread/pizza base), I keep the cheese and heavier ingredients mostly at the edges, with a little bit in near the centre - this ensures the cheese browns and the middle is cooked without being soggy.
If you have good chef knives (i have one lol), wash and dry it immediately after use - keeps it from getting weird and rusty.
that's all I can think of atm
I love this. I don't get teary until maybe after the second onion but if I do I run my hands under the cold water and that stops me from tearing up. I hate peeling them because I once copped a hard bit under the nail and jesus fucking Christ that onion got thrown so basically I use my knife to scrap the peel off.
Das a cool lil pizza hack.
Whenever you have to crack an egg, whether it's boiled or not. Always crack it on a flat service. At least with raw eggs if you crack it on an edge it'll concave in and you'll get more shell pieces that way.
Onions, you shouldn't cut the base if you don't want to cry. But don't cut off the base if you're dicing onions, because it's easier that way.
Isn't that wasteful? Every extra paper towel you use has an environmental impact. Even if they're recycled, there's still a substantial energy and water cost.
It's one piece of paper towel I use for all my peelings and I generally flick all the peelings into the bin, give it a wash under the sink and use it to wipe my bench down then my bin or the floor then I throw it out. I just wasn't going to go into detail. I don't call that wasteful. I call that resourceful.
There is also a substantial energy and water cost in washing out reuseable cloths. I believe which is better is not clearcut as there are lots of variables, but if you rinse out a cloth in hot water it uses more energy & water than a piece of paper towel embodies.
Day off work, that's good. But it's because I'm sick, that's bad.
Ooh hope it's nothing too serious. Lots of sniffles going around.
On other road news, on my forward trip tonight I drove past a vehicle with a few blokes inside, windows down, singing the barbie song at the top of their lungs.
Elon's X logo totally looks like the X Window System's logo.
His love affair with the letter X is wild. I'm not calling Twitter X, that's embarrassing. What are tweets called? Exs? Retweets are Ohs? Like...
Edit: Okay so I was shitposting and didn't see this until now.
It's hidden sexual innuendo. Just like the Tesla lineup, S3XY.
Zuck trademarked 'X' a few years ago. Elmo might have a nice legal battle at his hands shortly.
There is some poetic justice given the way Zuckerberg has apparently steamrolled other trademarks like Meta PC and Threads.com.
Hopefully the user-unfriendly corporate social media companies get so distracted fighting each other and destroying their own products that it gives FLOSS fediverse software a decent opening to get everyone onto the fediverse.
Interesting to see the old Melbourne daily thread users noticing that we’ve left. https://www.reddit.com/r/melbourne/comments/158bid9/its_the_rmelbourne_daily_discussion_thread/jt9285m/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3
It is of interest that the only reason most people cite for not participating here, is the user interface of the platform and that it takes precedence over the familiarity and pleasure of interactions with the long-standing group of DT users who are here now.
…If that makes sense
I took a peek at the the Reddit DT a couple of days back. Didn’t recognise half the usernames and not many posts. On a good day the DT could get over 1000 posts. Sad what it’s become but glad we have this.
Yeah I've been on a few times recently and I noticed that too. It seems to mostly be people I've never seen before, or at least don't remember. There's a couple of people who are active both here and Reddit, and then like a couple who are against Lemmy for various reasons, but that's it. It'll bounce back though eventually. But as long as things here stay at least a bit lively, I'm not too uspey over it
Love you all here ♥️
Well, only needed to wait 5 days and with a bit of encouragement from @useless_modern_god@aussie.zone, I finally got stopped by a booze bus. First stop after the 5th encounter.
For @just_kitten@aussie.zone, The cop tonight looked kinda bored, but seems to be in a generally good/ok mood.
Have you had anything to drink tonight sir?
No sir.
He asked the guy in front of me that question and for his license, as he blew a low reading. Checked his license then sent him on his way.
Praise be.
Amen.
Oh dear lord my gas bill is…..NSFL.
I expect to say the same when the winter Q elec arrives
I got mine then I got my pitiful tax refund. Not the best week.
Remember when your mum said "put a jumper on" ?
I saw my gas bill and noticed the jump even though my gas use is minimal.
My energy bill I’m not going to be happy seeing it I think
Kiddos gnawing on my finger. I think we might be in trouble here.
Once babies acquire a taste for human flesh you have continue feeding it to them.
Not the best solution to the homeless situation, but a solution nonetheless.
Was wondering what the blackboard bold X (𝕏) represents in mathematics... looks like someone's helpfully adjusted the description on Wikipedia already.
I swear every driver on my bus route must have been taught by a kangaroo. All this jerking and jolting does not agree with my poor old back.
The ones on my route think they're doing Targa! Except occasionally on Bell St, where I could get out and run alongside it from sheer boredom at the inching along.

This was an interesting listen, about the ‘enshittification’ of tech products. They start out good to get max users in, the descend to bare minimum so that profits can be maximised. Makes a lot of sense when the reasons are explained. Facebook and reddit get a mention. https://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/futuretense/cory-doctorow-enshittification-platform-capitalism/102492918
I used to collect replicas of Greek antiquities. The replicas of the oldest showed beautiful workmanship, workmanship that took time to do. As Greek society became more affluent so bought more goods and also started exporting quality dropped as they had to mass produce and ask for a lower price. It was skilled labour too so they couldn't just employ more people. 🤷♀️
Back to Melbourne for the first time in a few months over the weekend. I was sick for most of it, but little one went to ifly and had fun. She was so small compared to every else. Some poor bastard was told in front of everyone he was (basically) too fat to do the hifly.
I went to my old primary school and donated two copies of my kids book. It's so surreal seeing how much it has changed. I'm hoping to make it back to do a talk with them sometime this year.
From time to time I think about moving back to Melbourne and then I drive along Plenty Road and remember why I never will. God I do not miss that road.
And woke up at 4am to catch my flight on Sunday morning. Of course it was cancelled. Thankfully mum picked me up and I napped for a bit. Caught the 2.50 flight and drove 90 minutes home and slept like the dead.
Still feeling like crap though. Took yesterday off work because my throat felt so raw.
3 weeks straight I've been sick with various things. Kinda getting over it.
Somehow Plenty Road never makes it into any of the tourism campaigns, not sure why.
Most people get a taste of CityLink when they arrive, surely that'll whet their appetite.
Goddamit cat, you had to lick the last TimTam. You're supposed to be on a diet! Oh well, I have sour snakes now for my sugar hit snack.
This is gross, but if it was the last timtam and just a lick, I’d probably wash it and eat it anyway. Or else cut that bit off.
I would eat the tim tam.
ewwww this means bottom racer kissed the kitty cat!!! oh my god this means they're going out now they are in SOOOO much trouble!!!!
Marking their territory. Bad kitty!
God... I can't wait till they make a four day work week enforceable.
I work four days and it is great. I hope everyone else gets to experience the pleasure.
I'm just gonna scream, I want to just relax and do nothing when I get home but NO, I have to do so much. I have no spoons left to give, yet people keep finding spoons from someone else and force it onto me.
I doubt I’ll see a 4 day work week or working from home being in education.
I turned down an offer to work a 4 day week once. No regrets.
Most excellent Dude Bot.
That Extreme Ironing thing that @Seagoon_@aussie.zone mentioned was cool, typical of a Brit eccentric to invent it!
Got me thinking though - I don't think I've ironed anything since the covid restrictions and lockdowns kicked in? I used to iron everything, I wouldn't leave the house in anything wrinkled and I did this for decades. Now I just don't care unless it's a smart function, it's been liberating.
I actually enjoy ironing, but my wife doesn’t, and our ironing board in Melbourne is covered with her junk so I can’t actually use it. I just avoid wearing stuff that needs ironing most of the time in Melbourne. I iron my clothes in Sydney, though.
Haven't ironed anything in like... 4 years. That was for a wedding.
I try to buy everything to be non iron and when washing and drying try to smooth as much as possible
The last thing I ironed was forty large sheets of calligraphy paper ... 😂
I do not have an ironing board, nor an iron. The last time I wore something that had been ironed, it was my HS uniform, 15 years ago.
Went for walk and came back to do some meal prep because I don't think I'd have the will after work tomorrow. Go me.
I am looking at the Dandenongs and the clouds appear to be confused. How do I let them know they are supposed to be above the mountains, not underneath them?
they feel down. give them a pep talk.
Wtf, this Twitter becoming x thing is for real? I swear every single time I hear about what that childike billionaire is doing I think it's either satire or fake... And then it actually happens
Do have to give him credit though, that was very efficient
Not enough money to pay for leases or employees, enough money to pay for a rebrand. Business genius.
A worthy successor to Trump in the "he did WHAT" category.
He's a joke. While I'm not a huge fan of zuck either, I enjoy the fact that threads is doing well. Twitter can become a right wing incel zone and most of us won't care or notice by the time it does.
Bored in a meeting. Fortunately my camera is off
I've once again collapsed on the couch after a big braining out. I must go to napland now bye
I did my collapsing early on today - woke up at 9:30am and didn't start doing any work until 4:30pm today because my brain was too fried to be utilised. My psychologist told me about "pacing" and how over time your capacity can recover and I'm like goddammit I can't see how that would actually work - I think I would just sleep more and more and more tbh. I need so much recovery.
It's not really a long lived or sustainable solution either but sometimes having a change of scenary like going on a trip could be a better 'recharge' than just resting and sleeping. But yeah I mean a long weekend trip is nice you come back and feel recharged for a day or two but then it all comes back to you and it's like 'oh no not this again' lol
I’ve just come back from a nap myself and made dinner and ate it.
Have a good one!
Thanks. Nap was good but I totally need the real deal soon and hopefully make up for some poor sleep last night.
I have never smoked the marihuana, but I've been listening to a 1.5hr loop of Deep Blue Day by Brian Eno and my brain feels massaged. I imagine this is what the effects of mj are like. Ahhhhh....
Mary-hwoo-wah-nah has been life changing for my cptsd - not a fix, but a definite improvement. Would have a headstone instead of a lemmy-account without it tbh. just need to get a therapist lol
Thank you for the recc! Giving it a listen now 🤗💜💜😍
Mj helps my adhd a bit I think in terms of staying focussed on a task. The task has to not involve operating machinery or working. I flushed my last two stashes. It fucks my mind into thinking being trans is going to be too hard and makes me paranoid. It helped when I had heaps to do packing my house and I could keep the brain occupied but if I had nothing to do it was anxiety city. It is a medicine though and I know a bunch of people who use it therapeutically now. Glad to hear it's helped you as well of course!
I've had enough corporate nonsense for breakfast this morning and I'm glad to be sitting away from work and having a pie and chips for lunch.
Ok ok ok why do people lay their houses out differently to mine? 😭😭 I can't find the bloody toaster! (/J but fr I seriously can't find the toaster and nobody else is home)
There are some savages out there who, believe it or not, put their toasters AWAY in a CUPBOARD, EVERY SINGLE TIME after they use it. I have resolved that I will never again share a house with such a demented person if I ever have a choice about it
If you dont locate a toaster
\
Slap those slices under the grill
\
Watch and turn them, don't roast-em
\
Hope that helps you get your fill
They may have had one, but it broke and was discarded. They might even have been hoping you'd bring one with you. They do catch on fire easily, so this is a reasonable hypothesis. You could if you wished acquire one from Kmart or Ikea or Appliances Online or whatever - they are cheap and designed to break easily and be replaced. Capitalism in action. So I didn't replace mine the last time it broke, and now use the grill cos I was feeling ornery. Also, people do change the settings to their own personal preferences AND DON"T CHANGE THEM BACK - which is major uncivilised conduct in a shared kitchen. You might like to acquire one and keep it in your room to protect the settings you prefer. Just clean out the crumb tray regularly so it doesn't catch fire.
If it isn't on a kitchen bench, they laid it out wrong.
^
I can't even find it in any cupboards, I'm beginning to wonder if they just don't have one? I mean, everyone has a taster right? They have a microwave, kettle and air fryer so I'm not dealing with time travellers from the 1300s here...
Mine goes in a drawer. I don't have much bench space, so very little gets to stay out.
Maybe they don’t have one. I don’t have a toaster because 1. I don’t eat toasts that often and 2. Can never fully clean a toaster and that’s gross. When I want toasts, I put them in my airfyer.
You could make toasts in a frypan or oven if you couldn’t find the toaster
How long does and airfyer take to toast four english muffin halves?
Your wish has been granted. 🌞
At the emergency vet near me and damn this place is swanky, looks like an actual people hospital.
If you're sick you should definitely be going to an actual people hospital
Then again James Herriot said that the vet practice had a regular clientele of crusty old Yorkshiremen because 'them buggers (people doctors) never did owt for me. 😂
The Sweeney Todd Broadway soundtrack has been a fun accompaniment this morning
Two minute noodles with additives for dinner. I used the last of my high-protein noodle packs. I don't think they are quite as nice as standard noodles, but they are pretty close.
One Lindt chocolate ball is on the cards for desert. I really miss the days of my youth when I could eat endless amounts of chocolate and sweets, these days supply must be limited ☹️ But limited chocolate is still an improvement on dieting mode no chocolate.
I hear you and can relate to the relative gluttony of youth. I used to eat so many cakes.. now I have to severely limit any sugar consumption or the barge arse will expand. You're entitled to a treat here and there though, a reward for good work and gains.
It's Lindt. You're doing chocolate right.
Fighting a new brand of ink. Watered down it looks grey and even when the ink is thinned the brush doesn't spring back into shape after use. That's a no for that ink.
The metallic paint can't be thinned down, the brush "strains" it, so at the start of a brush stroke the ink is thick and dark , by the end it's watery and grey. Looks grey even with added india ink. Nice sparkles tho.
Looks like Daiso ink for the win.
Ok. Movie time again. Need to start now or it’ll get too late.
Rurouni Kenshin: The final.
I really like the Kenshin Live action movies.

No trams running on Collins St this morning sucked all of the hairy balls. I made bad decisions trying to get to Collins/Exhibition (work) and ended up having to walk uphill from Fitzroy Gardens. Rolled the dice on a strategy and lost.
My brain crossed your user name into this and I thought for second you were saying there were no bulls running on Collins Street this morning. That did not seem like it should be an unusual situation.
Come on, with all the funds and prop traders in Melbourne, there have got to be a few bulls. They can't all be bears - the economy can't be that bad.

I use I think it's stopad, or adguard or something like that on my tablet with ReVanced as well and it's top tier. I don't use it on my phone, because I don't fully trust it, privacy wise, but ReVanced is a must if you don't have it

I'm thinking I might start training for that extreme ironing people are talking about, so I'll start off with some ironable foods. Pancakes, bacon, pineapple slices, a toastable sandwich, and for an advanced challenge a few prawns and butter. Do you have foil and an iron available, or do I need to BYO?
🥞🥓🍍🥪🍤🍤🍤🧈

kinda oversized but it will make you the strongest iron wielder.
Because mudcakes are now $6.5 or something I have resorted to a pack of mudcake oreos.
Or eat fruit. Mandarins are super cheap at the moment.
I have a problem with fruit consumption but that's a post for another day
Or you can source your own mud for free!
heyheyitsoreoday
Wayheyyy
and they're smaller :(
Ah damn really I hadn't noticed...it's been that long since I had one
Was at the Fancy Shop yesterday while waiting for traffic to die down and got these to try out thanks to @Force_majeure122's tinned seafood propaganda posts.
Anyone had these before? Recommendations on what to eat them with?
I'll try them out later this week and report back.
I had a tomato one flavoured herring from Aldi last week and I put it in a sandwich and ate it together that way.
It is propaganda for the benefit of y'all!! I'm glad it's paying off. It started with microwaved potatoes and now we're onto tinned fish. What's next?
\
I haven't tried the cod liver so I'll defer to Thornburywitch. For the herring, however you want, also as per Thornburywitch! I normally just eat them out of the can, but yeh with crackers, over rice, in a pasta. Whatever you want. I just insist you give them a taste by themselves first though
I await further instructions from our DT's very own trendsetter as to what the next culinary direction should be...
The smoked cod liver will have a very strong taste - recommend stirring a little of it through pasta or spread thinly on a nice thick slice of bread. Cod liver oil is an acquired taste, but very very good for you being rrrrrich in vitamin d and all sorts of goodies. The herrings will be delicious whatever you do with them. I like them on hot rice, with a salad alongside. Or on toast. Or stirred through chopped greens for a salad, but you do you.
Got slugged for a $7.90 EastLink toll this afternoon because, unlike my journey to the destination, I forgot to specify 'no tolls' on Google maps on the journey home. Lesson learned. Got me thinking about getting a tag thingy though.
I've got a tag but I still check the tolls/no tolls prices/times. Sometimes it's worth the fee to save the time, often I'm driving home late at night and it's like 5 minutes difference for $12.
We've got an interesting moon tonight.
I'm so hot for it. Love me some whack lunar shenanigans

DAY 30 COMPLETED! 🎉🎊 The first time in my whole life I have stuck to a daily exercise regimen! I'm feeling pretty chuffed right now. The only question for me now is what to do next! Should I move on to the intermediate level? Do something different? Decisions decisions!
PeelerSheila you are an inspiration.
Aww thanks!
Yoo that's amazing peeler! You did it! Personally, I'd stick at the current level for maybe a few days to a week, but that's just me. Perhaps you might be one of the people that needs an ever increasing (but doable) challenge to stay engaged?
I'm definitely interested in tweaking the current routine to make it more about exercises I like doing. That is unless I find some other low impact cardio routine I like the look of.
I'm no expert on this, maybe if you feel ok work up a little to the next level but in incremental steps.
Anyway congratulations! Keep up the good work!
Thankyou for your encouragement!
You're honestly an inspiration given everything else you need to wrangle in your life!! I envy being able to stick to a regimen. What does the intermediate level vs Something Different look like?
Thanks for the encouragement! The intermediate level has some exercises I'm not really sure are that good for the back, so I'm a little sceptical of my ability to do it. I'd be more interested in some good low impact cardio. Or making my own routine based on the ones I've been doing.
Smashing it!!! You should be so proud of yourself! Love it and loving your journey! 💜😍
Thankyou!
Awesome! Proud of you sis. You've helped me maintain my routine as well. 10k will be walked today, I did nearly 5 at work so it's just another hour.
My advice is to keep doing what you can make into a habit but you do you.
Thankyou! I can safely say that I am totally in the habit of going for that 10 or so minutes of exercise before work in the morning. I actually look forward to it! It's me time for self improvement and I'm still enjoying it! I'm thinking of making up a 10 minute routine based on the ones I've been doing but with some of the exercises swapped out for ones I enjoy doing more. Unless I find some good low impact cardio routine I'd like to try.. I'll have another look tonight.
