The light sabers should just slowly keep growing forever until they get turned off. Battles would be more complicated because the bad guys would have to keep turning their swords off so they don't slice up their own lair.
End it.
Let it die.
It's already dead to me afterr I seen that one "sequel" that was basically a condensed re-hash of the originals. Read: nothing original.
take it away from Disney
This is the only and best answer.
One, Chewbaca needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever Chewie's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's Chewie"?
Change "I am your father" into "Obi-Wan killed your father" as shot originally. Discard everything after that scene, including of course the prequels and sequels (but keep Rogue One and Andor because this is now for grownups). Rewrite and reshoot everything else based on the premise that Vader and Anakin are two separate people, as was originally intended. Make a prequel about the relationship between Anakin, Vader, and Obi-Wan, in which Vader‘s face is that of David Prowse. And establish Darth as his first name ffs, not some stupid title or degree or what.
Just stop? Some things don't need to be a "brand". There fine as one shots.
Upscale and release the Christmas special.
I'm not sure how recoverable it is at this point, but if you want Star Wars to act as a forever-story, don't treat it as one single story. Its okay if plot doesn't directly build with each release. Its okay if it doesn't connect to other parts of the cannon. Its okay if you have no shared characters. Hell, its even okay (if not ideal) if some media contradicts each other. The important part is making good stories, and if a new peice of media wouldn't work when attached to a larger plot, don't attach it to the larger plot. Simple as that.
Look at something like 40K, for example. While yes, there is a "main" plot, its only a small part. Honestly, fans often outright ignore the "main plot" Horus Hersey books, in favour of the more fun and compartmentalized books like the Eisenhorn Trilogy or the ork books because those are the books that most revel in the setting and themes of 40K and aren't burdened by dozens of other books that they have to tie in to.
they should have episodic plots, much like with old trek.the current formulation, is build up to a very low effor galaxy threat.
The problem isn't the length, its the fact that stories are warped or straight-up built around every single (often not even) loose thread from the original trilogy and to a lesser extent, the prequels. For example, the Madalorian was great for the first season, where yes, it was episodic, but it did still have an overarching plot that built up to a climatic final battle. Where it started to run into problems was when it had to tie back into the original plot. Mandalorians lost all mystique, pacing was hampered by exposition, and the focus was draw away from the main characters and the plot in service of tie-ins to Ashoka and the main franchises.
Ultimately, it should be about telling the best stories. Sometimes, that might be episodic as worked well for Mandalorian, sometimes a continuous plot like Andor, and sometimes it is a full movie that does fit alongside the original cannon like Rogue One.
Create more adult themed Star Wars movies/shows, similar to Rogue One/Andor. Stop trying to milk baby Yoda snd other little kid bullshit.
First part of this comment I thought you were going somewhere completely different with it....
Me too, but I think that one was already done before...
Hot take:
End it… Just canonize a subset of the lore, remake that subset from beginning to end so it tells one concise story, and let it be done.
The real problem with Star Wars is that the lore keeps getting milked. It isn’t a story at all anymore. It’s just an IP. A cash cow to be milked. A dead horse for beating. Nothing they change now will fix that unless they uproot everything and remake it into something respectable.
right now its pushing ou garbage as much as the mcu, need to slow down and work on writing and plots. the streaming service isnt doing it any favors.
Explore The Old Republic era more. And smaller, contained stories. Leave the grand, bombastic stuff to the trilogy movies.
2nd christmas special :3
They already did that. I think it was Lego based.
Edit: Trailer
oh good god. No. Make it stop!
Basically make young James Bond in space, but he's an imperial spy. Every season or movie could be a new story.
Separate it from Disney. (financially, legally, ethically, forcefully...)
This is the way
Explore stories with lower stakes that focus on different aspects of Star Wars. Not everything needs to be an epic galaxy-wide conflict that somehow includes ten OT characters as fanservice.
There are millions of planets, trillions of sentient beings, all with their own motivations and philosophies.
As controversial as Acolyte was, I really liked that it showed us force users that were neither Jedi nor Sith and how incapable the Jedi were of accepting that.
seems like they are follow the nutrek method, kurtzman is mostly doing galaxy wide threat that end up being lackluster
KOTOR 3
Drop any and every project that isn't KotOR 3 and funnel those resources into KotOR 3. Send everyone that pushes back to Peragus.
I mean, it's going to take a lot after those last 6 movies.
Release the original theatrical cuts.
They have been released multiple times. I‘ve had them on DVD for 15 years now.
Does it need to be improved from a money standpoint? It seems to continue to be a money printer and my coworkers who like this kind of shit keep watching every new Star Wars thing and enjoying it even more than the original movies so from that standpoint I think it's doing just fine. There is no issue with the "brand" from Disney's point of view. As long as the general public continue to consume whatever slop they slap the star wars name on and love it, why would Disney ever do anything different?
im guessing old fans that prefer the better story writing and slow development vs nufans that want fast quick fixes.
Another trilogy about an evil empire rising and conquering the universe, where old Rey is now training the young jedi bey bladewalker that would take on darth yoyo, who is trained by palpatine. The movie would have 3 director that have their own vision.
Luke waking up and then telling his son Ben Skywalker that he had a terrible dream that didn't make any sense.
I can't even enjoy the good stuff like Andor because it's part of the same cursed Disney timeline. If they scrapped the sequel trilogy I might be persuaded to come back.
Change the name to Star Trek and get a crew together composed of beings from around the universe and a black lady. To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, yadda yadda yadda...
they will have to ask paramount for IP usage
Don't you mean, "(Baby) Yoda Yoda Yoda.." 😋
Hire Kai Patterson who did an amazing job fan-editing some of the shows into movies. He is of course still limited by the source material but especially his version of Ahsoka was a lot more enjoyable than the show.
Same with Doctor Who... it's not a franchise FOR kids, it's a scifi/fantasy franchise that kids CAN enjoy.
Personally, nothing can be done. Starwars last chance for me was episode 7, but I already watched a New hope and didn't need a reboot.
