Lake pretty.
Wow. That’s an incredible photo shot.
Wow!!
Only thing his one brain cell thinks about is goblin (some snacks)
It's true!!
What a candid shot lol
😂😂
He’s got his fists up and snarling!
🥊😼🥊
😂😂
It got down to 5°c last night but I did it for the team. Made a few wishes for youse so now you have to wait to see if they come true. You can thank me later for your good fortunes.
Went to the zoo with Minipeelers and Mr P. We are trying to do a "family activity" together every weekend; so far things have been quite civil really. Saw the meerkats, seals, lions, Australian section, lizards and dingoes. Tried to see the animal that smells like hot buttered popcorn (Binturong; sounds like an Indonesian beer and it looks shattered, like it spent far too much time with extended family or small children, but it really does smell like popcorn!) but being a master of camouflage it could not be seen. I wouldn't want to be seen either if I was an animal in the wild that smelled so deliciously edible!
The popcorn scented Binturong we didn't see. Then I bought myself a tshirt of Fry saying "shutup and take my money!"
Clearly not a happy soul. Reminds me of too many Monday mornings.
aww, he looks like a wizard
The Binturong and the Sun Bear could have drinking sessions together
Another curious looking animal, to be sure. It looks occasionally like a human wearing a costume of it at a dodgy Chinese zoo
Quick mostly spoiler free movie review:
28 Years Later is really a family drama interspersed with terrifying fights for survival. Although there are some jump scares, It’s not so much a horror, but a thrilling and curious dreamlike adventure into the heart of darkness (with gorey bits of bone, flesh, and blood spattered about)
The tone is medieval and fairytale like, reminiscent of the movie “Men”, (another Alex Garland project) or even David Lowery’s “The Green Night”.
There is a folksy, cottage-core vibe here, interspersed with artistic camera flourishes and heart racing terror. Some very effective freeze-frame kill shot camera work add to memorable chase scenes. (Apparently quite a bit was shot on iPhone)
Various classes of zombie inhabit this world from fat, hippo-like slow crawling worm eaters to muscular 10 foot tall alpha males. All of the infected are suitably terrifying and deliver the goods.
The main actors played their parts dutifully with Ralph Fiennes being the most notable. He played a doctor and curious hermit covered in iodine. A kind and sympathetic man with the fortitude to live on his own, but, also deranged enough to spend years building a shrine to death itself.
The soundtrack is really cool and is used effectively throughout. Written by Scottish progressive hip hop group, Young Fathers. It’s dreadfully creepy and sounds similar to The Haxan Cloak. I found myself playing in the car later in the day.
I do have some issues with plot and storyline but won’t go into here, as not to spoil story.
I brought MissGod with me and she rates it highly.
8.5/10 skull monuments💀
That’s an interesting take on it. Very nice description actually.
I know nothing Bout the film other than being a zombie film but the way you described it was way off mark of what I originally thought it was going to be.
Thanks. It’s a film that will catch you off guard with its style.
I felt like there could have been more exploration of the anarchistic commune and everyone's role within it but we don't get those kinds of stories
Thanks for the review, will have to check it out. I’ve realised we should probably watch the first one before seeing this one for a bit of context, too
I think today is going to be a bulk cooking day
Question: Do you eat at the kitchen table or in the lounge room or other?
We eat at the table but tonight I was a rebel and ate in the lounge room.
The last time I lived in a house that was large enough - my last sharehouse - there was no kitchen table, but there was a small dining room (with dining table) and a lounge room (couches and fire). I usually ate on the dining table unless I felt like staring into the fire of a cold evening. Occasionally, I would eat in my room if I was working hard on uni/work.
As a kid I used to hate eating at a table. I'd always eat in front of the computer or TV
Having the option to sit in front of a fire would be awesome.
My dining table (which takes up a quarter of the lounge room) is usually half covered in craft stuff and school stuff because there's nowhere else to put it, so there's room for a couple of people to sit at the other end. There's also the couch, where the Minipeelers usually sit for meals. Mr P lays on his bed (in the next room) and eats dinner on a tray. It sounds weird but we are all no more than a few metres from each other. I don't invite people over because I don't want people to see how I live.
I was meant to have friends over last night but they cancelled and I'm glad because my kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off. It's all better today.
Don't be too harsh on yourself. You're a working mum who puts her family first. You're doing great in my book. 🙂
Our big table is currently hosting a lego build, towels waiting to be folded and a tub of cake decorating stuff from me decorating my mother's birthday cake. There was still enough room for the three of us to eat dinner though.
I'm a bachelor. Loungeroom couch. I don't even have a dining table 🤣
😂
Dining table but not formal or anything 😊
I have a gully kitchen and at the end sits my table and chairs. Technically that part is a dining room because it has carpet but there's no wall separating the two.
I try to make a point of everyone eating at the table together now with the kids. There are occasions that's not the case but they're few and far between fortunately
Usually on the couch watching tv.
Usually I just sit on the couch. I use the dining table if I have guests or if I'm eating soup.
I need one of those plastic baby bibs that catch food in them so I can eat sausage rolls on the couch.
Went to bed pretty early (for me), but couldn't sleep. Got up at 2am and had an oven apple pie and promptly fell asleep on the couch with the cat.
Woke up wide awake at 6am. Wtf.
now to make some burritooos for freezing, then roll out the cheesy naans (also for freezing)
Gym done. Decided to get a trainer again. I need some accountability around nutrition.
I eat well, but I think it could be better and someone to help me strengthen my shoulder to avoid migraines would be amazing.
That would be amazing if you could work out the kinks with your shoulder so you didn’t get migraines from it again.
Managed to sleep in way too late.
Woke up to a tv that was on, is it haunted?
Now to figure out food and coffee.
got a fetchbox? When they reboot they can wake a tv that powers on hdmi signal.
No, I don’t have a fetch box. It’s connected to an audio receiver though.
Day 3 of snot hell. Decided to do another RAT though I suspect it's just a cold. Thank the flying spaghetti Monster for nasal rinses and real Sudafed. Also warm water with a tsp of honey and a half tsp of ghee has helped with the coughing.
snot hell could be whooping cough
Don't think so, cough is not quite like that. I have dodgy sinuses so simple colds can become sagas of snot and congestion of I don't manage it early. Lots of steam, rinses and drugs.
Sounds like what I’ve got. So much coughing, and now the snottiness is kicking in. Ugh
Ugh ugh. Social distanced hug
Alright, after some drama and use of a broomstick (not by me...) sox was bundled into her carrier and all her bits and pieces taken away. Made sure to eat something, finished up all the other house chores, stopped for an existential panic moment, then went to the laundromat and dried a huge load, and now I'm parked at the office willing myself to attack the method section (it needs to be dramatically shorter and replaced with some diagrams that I have on hand). I picked the easiest bit to do today because I knew the morning was a writeoff.
Wish me energy and concentration. I've had my meds, a coffee, and now a tea with a biscuit, and I still feel like burying myself in bed. I'll try and get out of here before 9pm at least and have a good night's sleep before tomorrow's new session of writing back at the uni library. I am at least relieved in the back of my head that I've now got clean clothes and a clean house again
You can do this. Well done with the clothes and food while in the middle of it. That's life sorted.
Here's a sleepy sun kitty to help
I wanna join sleepy sun kitty and bury my face in that glorious sun-kissed fur (even if only for 0.1 seconds)!
But no, I shall stare relentlessly at Microsoft Word
You can do this. 😊
Good luck with your work tonight.
You’re getting there and nearly done I hope.
You can do it!
Thanks. I'd say I'm past the 50% mark overall but still a lot of work to do to get to the 90%-complete level where I can send it to my supervisor. At least i feel like some major blockages have been cleared. I think I won't push myself too hard tonight because I need to sustain momentum for a few more days rather than burn out too fast.
One of the stranger things I've noticed on beach walks is the food that gets washed up. Whole fruit and vegetables. Maybe they fall off boats and ships and are not eaten by fish. Yesterday I saw a whole perfect pomegranate on the beach. odd
Up since 4am to watch UFC because it's randomly in Azerbaijan so unusual time. Have a hot water bottle under my jumper 🧊Gunna need a nap today
brrr
I hear you, I got up at 5.30 thinking it was 6.30
Well, after feeling insanely sleepy for a good few hours there, at some point something kicked in and I have powered through to 10pm and my methods section is pretty much 95% complete!!!
The intro is about 75% after yesterday's efforts - held back by the very late-stage discovery of a key paper that throws a whole bunch of things out and I have to incorporate into the intro and discussion. So I'm going to have to prioritise reading that, but...
...my discussion section is a total shambles.
I think my game plan for tomorrow is to seriously flesh out the discussion section, references be damned, and get the main points/flow of discussion correct. Because I simply won't have anything even remotely submittable without that. THEN I can get into that stupid paper and figure out how much I need to wedge in and try and finish that remaining 25% of the intro...
Sigh. I was hoping I'd be done by end of Monday but I'll have to accept spending my birthday still working on this stupid thing. If I can finish by the end of Tuesday at least then I can luxuriate!
I am just like 😐 at your analysis of how you work and of your work.
pretty awesome
at least this thing gets the ball rolling
I think this is the key, yes? To get into a flow state.
Back to bed
The black cat is outside… but I can’t feed him or encourage him to hang around otherwise I’ll have a cat fight on my hands
Not a good idea to feed neighbourhood cats anyway unless you know them. You don't know if they have a special diet or not.
Agreed, he looks healthy so probably has an owner and might not need help. I’m hoping he stays that way because I don’t have the energy to catch him if he’s a stray
Good night all ❤️

Oop… hairball on the bed. Thankfully I have a few doonas. I put a cover on a new one ready to swap out fast when she gets up.
Not a fan of these ‘space saver’ bags that don’t stay sealed or compressed. Also they’re large so you have to haul the bulky thing down and dig through. Not really working as intended… maybe I should just divide things into smaller stackable blanket boxes, and sorted in categories.
And declutter… I just wish I could find clothes that fit and are comfortable so I could cull all the ones I keep ‘just in case’.
Ugh I hate those vacuum bag things. You cram them full of blankets or whatever and then it's heavy as to do anything with. Also got to get the vacuum cleaner out every time you want to pull out a jumper or something. I found them too much of a hassle. I was mostly using them for toy plushies, jumpers and the like. I had better luck with those supermarket cooler bags with the zip tops: just big enough for me to put a few things in and lightweight enough for me to put in and out of the top of the wardrobe. I don't know why I had so many of them, but they came in handy lol.
That’s a good idea
I rode up to the water tower again yesterday and cutting across the hills is very doable. The park construction could be a blocker at times but there are still other options for me to try out.
good night everyone , sweet dreams 😘
I got home incredibly late after a huge hyper focus session rewriting out my entire intro (this time with full citations) - got home past 1am and hugely apologetic to dear sox who was clearly a bit out of sorts having dislodged and chewed up a corner of a pizza box (there was plenty of dry food left for her to free feed on).
Things have been so hectic I have two weeks of laundry built up and all sorts of crap lying around. So I've spent this morning getting that done, cleaning the kitchen, doing an overdue vacuum, tidying the place up before Sox's human comes at 11. Now just waiting for the second round of laundry and... lo and behold I have been blessed with one last shnuggle.
E: also looks like the US has finally pulled the pin. Yaaaay... not...
so many kudos on the rewriting sesh, hard work is hard
and hugs for Sox
Aww you’ve worked really hard to do what you need to do.
I’m glad you can relax with soxcat now
I’m sure you’ll see her again.
Also what did I just wake up to this morning?
The Winner Takes It All by Meryl Streep in Mumma Mia forever on repeat
it seems to never end
got a bunch of cds from the opshop last week and this is my first opportunity to rest and listen
an old Joe jackson, some Diana Krall, George Michael, Josh Groban, sound track to monsters ball, just grabbed what interests me
i do like this joe jackson song, saw it live many years ago
We went to the burlesque show for our Anniversary last night. There was a best dressed prize so I told my girlfriend to find something she's never had a chance to wear and dress as gay as you can.
My logic was you dress up extravagantly as you can because there will either be someone more dressed up as you, or you win a prize.
And she won!
She felt overdressed because most of the crowd was just old people, but that meant she was the clear winner, so she had a good time and it made the night a bit more special
What prize did she win?
She got a skincare package from some brand sponsoring the event. We'll have to see if its any good
Ooh! Love a good show off event, so few ops otherwise.
I figure every woman has at least one piece of clothing they haven't worn yet because they haven't found the occasion, and this was the chance to finally break something out
