It's been a big week. I'm tired but I'm ok, I'll rest tomorrow. Plus man and kid picked up her new car today so it's a celebration 🎉. Good news is, with a little rearranging both cars will fit in the garage because her's is a matchbox.
Cheers everyone 🍺 and 'ave a good weekend.
*This post was brought to you by a very confused little dog who is wondering why there's a strange car in the driveway.
Gutters started overflowing. Thankfully it was the release valve near the tank and not anything else (just cleaned the bloody things a week and a bit ago).
But golly gosh when I hear water gushing I get completely paranoid now after all the water woes over the last few years.
Gushing water scares me more than the power going out.
power outage means safety mechanism stopped the worst.
Gushing water is months to years of fucking drama and mould paranoia
All fixed now (touch wood), but after years of roof leaks and overflowing gutters I’m very triggered by dripping noises
Really hope it rains today. Come on BOM, let your predictions be right 🙏
It looks like most of the rain will miss us, but I have set a load of washing in progress so here's hoping!
I saw lightning over the bay about 5:30am on the dog walk... over the bay-ish from Mulgrave, south-west of where I was.
they already changed it from full day rain to half day 😔
💔
Op went well but dang, keeping on top of the eyedrops and meds for the next week and doing a lot of cleaning and bending down etc for my mum is quite a bit of work. Between that and getting on top of work and uni it looks like I'll have a lot on my plate
It is hard. Go gently with yourself where you can. It's great you are able to be there and help.
Glad to hear the Op went well!
omg I can still fit into my year 11 class jacket
are you in year 12?
yes 🐣
you have at least another 5 years growth , no way that will fit when you are 25
I feel stupid lol
You're a good person, sitting in the rain to make sure they get fed ☔🥹
why?
Not stupid.
I've done a load of washing and cleaned the bathroom. Soon I'll make some guac and a Bolognese sauce but I'm being really lazy about it lol.
Made it home from footy. Wet through, but on the bright side I have Mongolian beef and a donut
I'm going to have a nap
🧸
Morning work complete 🎺
Post nap regret
post bottle of wine no regret
OK I gotta stop going to bed early. Getting up at 7:30am on my day off is lame lol
Hilarious scenes here. Kid has now learnt why spending 5 hours in her new car with radio, lights and windows down is too much for a little battery. Also why Mummy has windy windows. Daddy is now charging the battery to atleast wind the windows up in case it rains. Kid has now killed Daddy's buzz.
At home is the best place to learn this lesson
Exactly. Lesson learnt 👏 👏 👏
Bahahahaa
I really do try not to be judgy. But there are people out there actually making an active choice to have margarine on their toast. It's not better for you and it tastes like spreadable plastic.
Marge is a good starter spread for kids cos unlike butter it doesn't rip holes or roll off the bread.
I guess kids don't know any better. But spreadable butter is a thing.
Friend coming over tonight for dinner, was an spur of the moment decision so now I have to wait for shops to open to get some supplies. Am also part of the DT washing day gang, have a load on. Panic house tidy is also in the works.
Neighboura having a blue outside so of course I'm at the top of my driveway laughing my arse off.
90 mins waiting at chemist.
Laaaaaaaame.
Edit: 2 hours now. Bad day to need to speak to the pharmacist.
Finally done. 2 and a half hours.
We were far from the only ones who got the shop opening time wrong and had to twiddle our thumbs in the car park
I just had a nap. Why?
I need to stay up till around 2am because I'm going to a concert tomorrow night and want to go out afterwards without zonking out halfway through.
You doing good and planning in advance.
Ran into Pauline Hanson this morning. She's aged, which I suppose stands to reason. I just hadn't considered that she's 70, now. She's clearly dying her hair bright red these days. I hope she does that for herself and not from some unspoken need to fit a certain look for women in politics. Men are allowed to age and go grey. Parliament is not Hollywood.
My most charitable thoughts about Pauline Hanson are when I'm not thinking about her at all.
Same here. That's how I managed to completely miss that she was now in her 70's until she was literally in front of me.

More patience pretty please?
Nice juicy storm over Trentham right now and heading our way, so maybe the washing machine magic has sorta kinda worked. Most of my washing is pretty much dry and easily tumble dried from here on so happy about that.
sanded the outdoor table a bit and have applied the last coat of paint
after it's dry will tidy the balcony 🙂
off to the shops after lunch to get some things for fixing up the vintage bedroom suite 🙂🙂
If anyone is interested in looking at some more outdated decorating I've found another fabulous house. The wallpaper in the bedrooms is particularly interesting.
Only 8 car spots. Amateurs.
But honestly if you had a heap of coin to do it up, that place would be great. i'd call dibs on the pool room and turn it into a studio. Outdoor undercover area could be turned into something amazing.
I think it's got great potential - I'd definitely consider buying something like that to do up, but as a rental where you are stuck with it as is I'm much less enthusiastic. I also assume that as the property was only just bought that the landlord would be planning to kick you out in a fairly short timeframe to do some sort of renovation, it's definitely not something you'd buy to hold as a long term rental.
For rent already? I love that shit, I had it on my "I'd buy that" wishlist lol.
me too
I love it
Kitchen not too bad, bedrooms vomitous, pool room covetable!
Pretty sure we have that kitchen wallpaper when I was a kid..
Given the extensive shedding, I think this would be PERFECT for a car collector or similar. Or someone with a horsefloat and a caravan and a boat and a few zillion motorcycles to store undercover.
I'm glad the Anzac march was dry. Happy for it to piss down this afternoon now.
Train cancellations and even changing train line without announcement 😠
took over 1.5 hours to get home , usually takes 45 mins
Dammit. The Trumpet party and some Independent wanker are texting me about the election. Gtfo my messages
Perfect leggings-and-oversized-hoodie day
Rain!!
Finally! Marge!
This is a job for nachos
Alrighty. All I have to do is feed the strays and I'm done for the day.
Hopefully it won't be raining at sunset.
When I walk down to the park they're all sitting waiting for me lol
Also if it started raining just now, it's because I left the house to go for a walk in my gym gear
you're one the cat homies now 😸
Poured myself a nice glass of mineral water over ice.
Took a nice big gulp.....and it's Tonic water.
How's your evening going?
So ANZAC day being so close to Easter, this April we remember the veterans who died for our sins.
Nah, we just strategic our leave
I have watched 57 films this year, some of which, I have seen before.
This definitely invites questions on what was your fave film in each genre.
Uh I don’t really break it down by genre. I’ll list my favourites four, I have seen for the first time this year
The Brutalist
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Capote
Warfare
That's impressive considering we're not even halfway through. I feel like I've watched Wall-e that many times alone because of the kids
ahh yes the fresh hell of plugging PC into TV via HDMI and ITS TOO FUCKIGN SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAARP AAAARHGHGHG
Common ports, common use cases, common aspect ratios, and it's always such a terrible experience. Why isn't plugging a computer into a TV simple?
Because one is designed for moving images...and one is designed for text
Just woke back up. Time to get ready for foomptball
MARGE
I've been looking at the route I ended up driving yesterday, which involved some major wrong turns due to the difficulty of following GPS directions for an area of the city I don't know that is also effected by major roadworks. I think I was supposed to get off the Western Fwy and head north around the Ring Rd, but I missed an exit and ended up on the Westgate Bridge, then had a brief diversion off the Fwy and around the Convention Centre dropoff circle before getting back on the Fwy and through the tunnel. About the same amount of time to get home (if you ignore the 10 mins the convention centre diversion added) but a significantly more expensive and unpleasant trip.
I absolutely hate city driving, but I am finding the new van quite comfortable. And the side mirrors give much better visibility for changing lanes and merging than the car did.
why is it called footy when it is mostly played with hands?

How can this only have ~7.5k likes....?
Hardly anyone knows him these days sadly.
Have you seen this? his performance of Clementine on Breakfast Time in 1995? He's basically awkwardly laughing along with the presenters, and then just knocks it out of the park with his performance. Watch the presenter's demeanor change as soon as he starts playing....
What streaming app is that? He's pretty popular on Spotify.
I've decided I need to get really serious about my house hunting. I'm going to implement a spreadsheet.
so after a very very late lunch of leftover biryani I finished setting up the balcony
it's nice, the big plastic chairs are very comfortable and I reckon the table looks great painted
That come up real nice. I wasn’t expecting the glass bit.
yes, it is lovely for lounging, it's a mostly covered balcony and the cats love lounging there too
it's one of those aluminium ( yay, means no rust ) garden tables from a hardware store
Looks like a lovely location for lounging!
My tongue has been hurting like a sore has grown from the tip to across the edges, some of the top, and the roof of my mouth somehow.
Hot food and drink is such a pain, I could kill for an iced coffee right now
Naw, Bacon got a mention on the Place That Must Not Be Named as a missed DT'er.
Awww let me go visit
