Yay, I got the new house rental. Just got to sign the lease and I;m in.
here comes beach living 🥹
Congrats 🎉🥂
Congrats!
Beach is good for the soul :)
Yay, that's so exciting!! Beach life is so good!
Grats!
Wow that was quick! Congrats.
Head of security resigned. They now have no security team lol
What a shit show
🤯
Ordered 3 got 4 🙃
I think that's the trick.. go on a Monday. So lucky to have a view like that just opposite the place.
Oh yum! 😍
Ahhh how the stress just disappears.
Shame they won't give me garden leave. I think I'll have another day in the city tomorrow lol
Was nice being out and about around people. Just sat down every hour or so and took out the laptop to check for any messages.
Bit early but this is my dinner.
See you after my coma.
I love how the flat text on these mugs breaks my brain. It's amazing what a bit of curve and proportion does for your sanity
😂same!
All of the fucks have fucked off.
I'm impressed you had fucks to begin with
the fuck fountain runneth dry
Thanks Brion 🙂
Good night everyone, have good dreams 😘
Today I simply can't. That is all.
smashes paint
Aht
I put down some of the Born olive green and tried to match it with a limited palette of Anko paints. It’s not identical but if you look at the palette knife (used to mix) and the centre colour put directly on the swatch it’s kinda close
I should wait and see if it darkens when it dries.
Edit: I had cleaned the knife but scraped from the rapidly drying pile for a better comparison. It looks a little cooler (and like a gross paste) but not miles off
looking good 🙂
so this is what I did to test the colours of a water colour palette , I'm not up to mixing colours yet. I can barely do a good wash.
Hot water fixed, yay. Now running through the usual "yes, I already tried that, as I mentioned in 3 separate emails" gauntlet to get dishwasher people to get someone out to fix it or organise a replacement... can't be arsed going back into the office after working from home while the plumber was here. I had lunch and don't feel like talking to anyone. Too late in the day to do any local site visits either. mehhhh
Dear My Brain,
Please stop awakening me at 3:50am on the dot every night. No, it is not time to wake up yet.
Sincerely,
Me.
Same, but around 5 - 5:30am for me. I've been researching why I keep having interrupted sleep and I've put it down to stress. But my life has a baseline level of stress which I'm pretty much always under, so I don't know how to reduce it below that to stop this from happening.
We're gettin old
it depends how hungry Ted Cat is
the meowing and then the pawing can start about 5
Manager knows that I'm waiting for a job offer and has indicated that I should take leave before the new role.
Currently on secondment and he's kind of said to plan on not coming back.
Apparently I have excess leave and this solves a problem for him.
Okay then.
nah fam, make him pay that shit out when you leave
I get leave loading when I take leave, so end up getting a bit more. And I'm moving to another gov dept, so all my entitlements carry over.
Considering I've got shit ton of leave, it works in everyone's favour.
as in they dont want you back? or as in the role wont exist?
Are people taking Dutons DOGE threats seriously?
They're looking at cutting roles regardless. Our programme is coming to an end, so if anyone leaves before their contract ends, they just won't replace them.
With the announcement last week, there is a bit of a scramble. My vacant role can be canned, meaning someone else won't be made redundant.
In my team there are three others doing similar work to mine, so my workload can easily be spread amongst them.
D'ya reckon you could make a successful pea and ham soup with sliced ham rather than ham hock? EDIT: Because savemore supermarket has a lot of cheap ham, often.
I actually use smoked sausage called rookwurst. I put the whole sausage in ( shut up ) , it swells up, ( shut up ) then drag it out and slice it to have with the soup .
I also put a tiny bit of maggi seasoning in my bowl of soup.
iow, why not, there are many different recipes and they all taste good
Yeah won’t taste exactly the same and the texture/consistency will be more “liquidy” I think. Should still taste good though. I normally chuck in about 200g of cooked/chopped bacon as well.
I reckon you'd need to make the base stock with a ham bone - they're cheap at butchers shops. With the pease, onion, carrot and bay leaf as per usual but cook it for longer. A slow cooker would be perfect for the job. Then add the chopped sliced ham to the soup at the end. No need to add salt then, the sliced ham will have enough. Just using the sliced ham only you'll lose out on the glorious gelatinous mouthfeel of a proper pea & ham soup, and it won't set to a jelly like a ham bone/ham hock soup would.
After taking the boys grocery shopping yesterday I'm glad I get most of my groceries delivered. I remember spending Saturday mornings with my Mum at Coles where it takes 1-2 hours to do all the shopping. It feels like a quarter of your weekend is taken up with buying the things you need to survive work for the next week instead of enjoying your free time.
We would maybe go see one of the sets of grandparents whilst out, but that's not something the boys have to worry about here. The only grandparent they could regularly visit lives with them.
The only possible thing is you can go do your groceries at a larger shopping centre here. But I don't know when I'd let them roam free, and even those places lose their novelty pretty quick when they don't change and you have no money to buy anything.
You need to train them up so when they are old enough they can help instead of hinder the process. I was chief bargain spotter in our family, my sister and I took turns with exciting tasks like trolley return and of course we all worked to carry all the groceries in when we got home.
This is how it worked in my own family as well. Help with finding and loading/carrying/unloading items, spot bargains, especially stuff that isn't on that week's list but is a regular purchase. Sometimes we would then be rewarded with special treats. I don't know why but I really enjoyed it growing up, even though shopping is a bleah chore for me now.
I'll need to make it fun for them later on. Maybe insert a maths lesson there by getting them to figure out the unit price of products. Hanging around for an hour or so whilst we shop would get boring fast otherwise
When i was a kid my mum would park my ASD arse in front of the fresh orange juice squeezer. That thing (and the ice chips in the greenery displays) could keep me occupied for hours
My son is 11, and I still would rather poke hot pins in my eyeballs than take him grocery shopping with me. Click and collect all the way! Although he will do a quick milk and bread dash with me but I can't cope with more than that.
I think we're lucky that going to the supermarket is still something new to them, especially going with the two of us. I've taken them plenty of time on the bike, so it's wrapped up in the whole experience of going for a ride together and doing something with dad
took mine solo over the weekend too. he was pretty good all things considered. But he is really reluctant to hold hands in the carpark which results in him cracking the shits and me having to peel him off the ground mid meltdown and carry him.
We'll usually carry the boys out of the carpark and they're pretty good from there. I think we've been able to teach them a bit of car safety and to be wary around roads. We've been working on teaching them carparks are roads too
5am the supposedly fresh batteries put in the smoke detector in December clearly were not. Dodgy cunts.
Such a slow start today. These antibiotics are harsh and I don’t feel good
Hope you’re feeling better soon
Thanks! Not long to go to finish
One room worth of blinds hung. No murders committed.
now that you have blinds you can do more murders with privacy 👍
Bwahaha
The face of "overstimulated from too many pats".
She's so gorgeous 😍
Tackling mount washmore and had a mini rant about how putting his lordship's stuff away FIFO so he gets even rotation was having a particularly trying battle today with my ASD "organise by textual feel so I can find on high sensitivity days". And of course in swoops Le Dipshit going "Shouldn't he be putting his own washing away??" like it's some goddamn revelation previously unknown to man and a Great Strike For Equality.
aight, but he has raging ADHD so that part of his brain literally malfunctions. We've tried it. It don't work. You gonna tell a fucking cripple to take the stairs ya fucken walnut?
As a mother of a teenager who doesn't exactly put the clean clothes away as I'd like after lovely washing them and folding them, we have come to a compromise where t-shirts get hung up (by me) in the wardrobe and while I'm in there I collect as many coat-hangers as possible ready for the next load. This system might help you a little bit.
Also, who's the French Dipshit?
oh we've tried many permutations over the past two decades. Current best worker is I kondo all the shit into his basket, stacked by location (that's just an added structure pleasure for me right there) for him to put away and put away his socks and underpants in a fifo but easily visible for selection (sock fashionista) because he just cannot get a handle on it.
We've had a rough time of it lately so I figured I'd put away all his washing since I had spare spoons and that ended up in half an hour sorting his running gear and pyjamas because at some point his squirrel brain panicked and shoved everything into the nearest void. Found a pair of socks he's been looking for since last year lol. We jive well on his running gear though 'cos I sort that by texture / purpose (eg: wicking / cotton / tank tops / lightweight jackets) so he knows what vibe he's after according to weather.
Melbcat has been poked and prodded. Her blood pressure is really good! (I think like 125-130?) The medicine is working.
Unfortunately I’m struggling to get the phosphate binder into her. I’ll either need to do a second oral syringe with it dissolved or get it compounded.
Does anyone here know about grading collectible cards? I've got a bunch of old magic cards that I should sell and it seems getting them graded will improve my sale chances, but it looks like $40/card. I've got about 20 cards that'd be worth over $100 but that's $800 worth of grading.
I would take really good photos and skip the grading. Find similar looking cards and price accordingly.
Can't see spending $800 netting you that much extra when selling.
Unless you've got some top quality super rares which might be worth it.
Could you informally engage a mate to take a look and tell you if there’s anything good? Otherwise you could list them high and see if anyone bites
Edit: I found a guide for grading them yourself but it focuses on condition and doesn’t tell you about rarity or worth https://www.threeforonetrading.com/en/guide-to-grading-magic-cards
Apparently though there’s other signs and there’s a TCGPlayer app you can scan them into.
https://draftsim.com/mtg-cards-value/
Otherwise the other place might be able to tell you
I know a guy that used to sell MTG cards for a living. He can't officially grade them but I bet he could quote you a sale price at a glance
Thanks, I figure ebay auctions gives me an idea of what they actually sell for.

Some gripes:
Business restructure for a couple of my suppliers has made them utterly awful to deal with.
When the “benefits & perks” section of a job ad actually have zero benefits or perks listed.
Some good things:
Blueberry pocky.
Sparkly lip gloss.
Think I’ll take a life admin day this week.
Like when a benefit is access to the training portal no one uses for training that doesn't give you a certificate on outdated versions of programs no one uses
I'm helping a woman at the retirement village and I thought I'd ask here first:
Are there apps that can boost audio during calls? Just through the phone and not just putting the phone on speaker.
This woman was a hearing aid, it uses bluetooth but apparently the app only works on IOS. I'll look into this and confirm if that's the case or not.
This means she can't really use headphones because she already has things in her ears, and she doesn't want to put her phone on speaker all the time.
Has anyone used anything that works and is decent? I'll look into her hearing aid brand and see what options there are as well.
You could look at something like RE equaliser. Has a vocal mode which basically just bumps the highs, also has a gain function up to +15db. It'd be clearer with in-ear headphones. UI seems like a bit much but it's set and forget.
That's what I was thinking. Some type of boost with a low cut that doesn't get too sharp. I'll look into it and I can always help her out with the initial setup
I remember ages ago there was the TTY service but I could be 20 years out of date
I've done a quick search and it looks like it's still a thing. I'll keep it in mind but I'm not sure it's completely what she's after
Good night everyone, good dreams 😘
Good night :)
Gone back to uni for the first time in a while, and I think I overloaded my brain. I've got a mild headache after sitting through the info session.
Contract has been signed. Resignation letter is being drafted.
Woooo fucking hooooo.
Theres literally no one to replace me. Fuck these people.
Congrats!!!
I'm sure they're not worried about disgruntled employees at least, they've got a great security team to protect things!
Oh wait...
Hahaha well, I'm sure all the medical clients we have are going to be thrilled.
Maybe I could get a job there and just faff about for a few weeks of pay until they realise I've no idea what I'm doing.
Don't worry, they'll just transfer the workload to one of the few remaining staff they have left and let them handle it all for no extra pay. What could go wrong?!
Can I join you?
DT Takes Fluffy Butt's Former Workplace
Congrats dude. Onwards and upwards.
No longer your circus, no longer your monkeys!
That's great news. I'm so lad you're out of there
Thanks heaps mate :)
👌🏻 nice
Woo! 🎉🎊🥂
Yay. 🍾
Yay!!🥳
Late reply but congrats!! Let's hope the next place is reasonably sane although it'll be hard to beat the chaos this place has fallen into. Pretty sad how quickly it went down there gurgler compared to when you first started!
I'm genuinely sad that this is how it's played out. I've never seen this happen before.
They've now had 6 resignations this month.
Unreal.
Woo hoo. Good going! So happy for you!
Thanks mate :)
YES
burn 'em to the ground
Damn straight!
The utter hubris is beguiling.
