So it appears that I've been successful in my interview last week. It's about a 2 month contracting process, but both my managers are happy to be referees.

More money, longer contract and more importantly, no one reports to me!!!!

E: my bedroom is dead-set like 10C warmer than the living room and even the CUPBOARDS feel hot. Also, my west facing bathroom clearly has the pipes facing west as well as the water out of the COLD tap was straight up HOT for a solid 30-40 seconds. Maybe tonight I will indeed sleep in the living room

She’s kind of going ok. Been sick a few times this week and seems to occasionally have acute pain (stomach aches?) but also still eating and sometimes goes to the screen door to look outside. I’m still stressed about her health because I love her.

She seems to have perked up a bit but if she gets painy again tonight I’ll try to book her in Friday or Saturday.

Treating a BIBLICAL fungus gnat plague right now. This warmth and humidity has clearly horned them up.

They've definitely been going into overdrive over the last month, I thought I had vanquished them all but clearly not. The gnat traps have harvested many victims so far

Boyo and I had an interesting experience at the beach last night. ::: spoiler Teens floating away on a flamingo While we were swimming about, we spotted two teenage girls with one of those blow up ride on flamingos. They were laughing as it was tumbling about in the wind and they were trying to keep it steady. A few minutes later, boyo asked where they’d gone and we noticed that the flamingo had drifted quite a way offshore, past the boat makers… and the girls were still on it. We honestly didn’t know what to do – there’s no life saving places near where we were and no boats insight.

We headed back to shore to get ready to call for help if needed while thankfully some people on the beach had also noticed something wasn’t right. By the time we’d gotten back to shore, the girls had let go of the flamingo and were swimming back to shore and thankfully seemed to be quite strong swimmers. Another man from the shore and my boyfriend swam out to meet them in case they were exhausted/in more trouble than we could tell. The tide was out, so they reached a sandbar and were taking a breather by the time the men got close, at which point they called out to let everyone know they were okay.

But holy wow. Boyo was really shaken up by it and we were wondering – who do we call in that kind of case, if the girls had been stuck on that flamingo? Police, ambulance? Had it been a few minutes more, they were definitely beyond us reaching them if they’d needed. :::

Last week I got an email from the casino (haven't been in about 6 years) that I have $700 in the cage that they'll send to the revenue office if I don't collect it. Just collected it. 😎 Free money that's not actually free, score.

This is the first positive casino story I've ever heard.
- I have another! On my first visit to Las Vegas, I was walking through the New York, New York casino - headed for the roller-coaster. I needed to pass by a room full of slot machines (pokies). I figured I'm in Vegas, I need to gamble something. So, I dropped a quarter into a slot machine. It paid out $27 or so. I cashed out immediately, It was enough to pay for dinner and a couple of rides on the roller coaster.

Those 2 nurses at the hospital. What horrid humans. Hope they get permanently barred and never allowed to work in healthcare again. And hopefully it’s just words and they haven’t actually harmed anyone. Hopefully.

Ah so nice to lay down at last! Made chicken schnitzel after my shower and did a load of washing which I hung all about the place (poor man's evaporative cooling lol). I hate this weather because since I started menopause and had COVID last year and had all that rashy business with my skin it's super sensitive. When I sweat it feels stinging and then itches like crazy. I've started having problems with deodorants; I buy one and try it a couple of times and often have a problem with it. It'll make a rash or it looks like I've grazed my armpits somehow. At least my face is almost completely better, healed miraculously fast and now just looks like an odd bit of barely visible reddish sunburn or something. I'll take the small wins as I can get 'em!

You might like to try unscented talc instead of deodorant. The aluminium oxide stuff in most deodorants can be tricky to manage if your skin is sensitive. Basically the talc soaks up sweat rather than seal the pores like a deodorant does. Makes clothes pretty yukky but does wash out well. Sympathy for the menopause internal temperature regulation problems - I had some doozies during mine.

Why don’t more women use a BBQ to cook.? Or is it just that way in my small sphere of life experiences, in which males dominate that space?

I'm not sure but I ain't letting my ol' boy near the bbq carbon isn't nutritious.
It's a man's job to be handed everything he needs already prepared so he can burn it to within an inch of charcoal and proclaim that he has cooked dinner for the family. But jokes aside, I use our baby weber q more than he does. I don't do a bbq as such but I'll use it for a roast, pizza, bread or even as a substitute oven on days like today so I don't heat up the whole house.
My mum barbeques more than my dad does, because she cooks more. My dad will only bbq to help out in bbqs, but my mum uses it more generally.
Men like to think that it's some sort of special craft while women silently think "I can do that on my stove" but are happy to let someone else stand there to cook. Anyone.
Women do use bbqs, we just manage it without an audience. And without expecting gushing praise for cooking a simple meal.

Mmmm grape

I’ve been getting disappointed with quality of grapes at the supermarket the last few years. You can only get them in pre-packed bags, and they never seem really fresh. I really love a crisp crunchy grape! If you look at the colesworth ones, the stems are dry and limp indicating they have been off the vine for quite some time. I liked it better when you could just take a bunch or 2 from the pile, and there would be several varieties to choose from, not just nameless green or red. Maybe I’ll go to the market this weekend to see if I have better luck there.
- I shamelessly grab one of those presorted bags, dump it out and pick my own from other bags. Mostly because I generally don't want as many are in those bags but also I'm not paying for shit grapes!
- If you have access to a good veggie shop or market I implore you to try some from there. The grape enjoyers in my house are enjoying what I'm bringing.
