Hey guys

I just wanted to let you know I will no longer be making the new thread at midnight. If I'm awake at that time I'll do it otherwise I'll be asleep like a normal person.

I have enjoyed steering this ship the last few months and I hope you laughed at least once at my stupidity. I guess this is my resignation letter. I look forward to going back to my regular bedtime.

I've figured out my next audiobook now that I've finished World War Z.

I'm going to try and work my way through Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. There's like 41 of them though and figuring out a reading order is pretty complicated. Peoples "guides" online are more suggestions than guides. One thing everyone agrees on though, even apparently Mr. Pratchett himself, is not to start at the beginning.

I've started with book #4, Mort. Which is the first in the "Death" sub-series. Like I said, it's complicated.

Also I found a site with a torrent of aaaaaall of the audiobooks which makes me very happy.

I hope you love them all. The Witches series was my favourite, my toddler is starting small, with "Where's my Cow?", but it's just as good as the rest of them.
Ha I started these over the long weekend. In defiance of all advice I am starting from the start (but will probably wander later). I am enjoying them.

Shout out to the homeless bloke screaming at me on my way to the station this morning. Just a great way to start the morning. Also love that after having a go at me for what ever imagined sin he calls out "help me" after I've walked off and ignored him. Yeaaaaah, not gonna do that dude. My empathy extends as far as not taking your crutch off you and belting you over the head with it.

This is so sad. It's like he had a moment of clarity .
He's angry at society ( and he has cause to be )
but he can only take it out on individuals, but then realises individuals are the only people who can help him .
Doesn't mean you should put up with it tho, he needs professional help.
- I reckon more likely trying to manipulate me cause I'm pretty sure he insulted me for not helping him.

Bit chilly this morning. I had to put pants on. They have sloths on them. ☺

I have the most freezing house on top of a hill. Was 11 degrees today, too cold.
I fucking love the cold. I'm genetically predisposed to being warm all the time. So the cold is the only time I feel comfy in normal clothes

Another work person wanting something early this morning disturbing my personal time.

I'm a little irritated by it today and eating into my coffee time early in the moment.

I need to learn to deflect and defer them for later and to be able to tell them that in person.

Just remove the option of contacting you before hours. I have to take teams off my phone every couple of weeks for the same reason.
- They were physically in my office space when I got in this morning.
Practice saying: yeah, nah.
Coffee is much more important that other people deferring their responsibilities onto you unceremoniously and early.

I went to this party the other day. There was this lady there that kept staring at me whenever she was near by and I was chatting to someone. I introduced myself but didn't get a chance to talk to her again that night.

I'm going to be in a group of people and she'll be there as well on the weekend.

Do you think it's worth trying to ask her out?

I know how this sounds but I missed a lot of this stuff growing up due to bad decisions.

I feel like a teenager with this stuff.

Yeh this weekend sounds like a good chance to actually get to chat to her a bit and get a bit of a feel of things. Then if it feels good absolutely ask her out :)

I was digging through my photos from Adelaide and found more angry warning signs. So continuing on from my Adelaide complaint thread a few weeks ago:

Being at a train station without intending to board a train is a $1,250 expiration notice, just like not buying your bike a ticket (their version of Myki is on the train, so the station isn't a ticketed area)

Standing too close to the driver door is a $750 expiration notice

Walking through carriages while the train is moving isn't just politely discouraged, it's also a $750 expiration notice

Notably though, they seem to have replaced all the cops with ambulance drivers and Wilton security lol. Only saw 1 cop car there, but about 100 Wilson security and about 1000 ambulances (that must be where all ours vanished to)

Don't forget about the mandatory $99 Victims of Crime surcharge on all penalties they have over there. So it's $1349.
The penalty for failing to vote in SA is $10, but with $99 in victim surcharge fees.

I could really go a good hot Shepard's Pie right now.

Aldi have individual ones in the freezer. They are divine.
My homemade ones consist of beef mince with flavours and mash potato on top. No base. Just slapped in a pie dish and baked.
- HEATHEN! A shepherd's pie is made from lamb. Beef makes cottage pie. Identical in almost every respect, but for the beast of origin. Mince is allowable nowadays, but for both sorts really should be (and in MY household still is) made with slices of leftover sunday roast and leftover roasted veg, all moistened with leftover gravy and the leftover roasted spuds roughly crushed to make the top. There is no dish better than that. Try it. I dare you.
- Ah I will grab some on the next shop!
  Presently we have roast lamb and vegetable noodles leftovers to finish up before getting more food lol
- If they're in the freezer, they're hardly going to be hot, are they? Sheesh!

I was feeling adventurous today so I purchased a flat white instead of my usual cappuccino and I'm disappointed. I'm not sure if coffee even went in there.

So my question is: Is a flat white just another name for a deflated latte because I'm struggling to taste any coffee in there?

My experience, cappucinos taste more like coffee because there's more air in the froth AND the chocolate powders adds a dimension.
I prefer flat whites as I hate milk foam.
Also...Coles express might the actual culprit.
- So is a flat white as strong as a cappuccino but without so much milk? I understand that a flat white is a bit of steamed milk but I want to know which one is a stronger tasting coffee all round.
STRONG advocate for a flat white here. I just want a slightly more mellow coffee. A cap or a latte have so much milk that sort of becomes the star of the show and thats not what I'm here for. I want a coffee.
- Interesting. I felt like I drank a lot of liquid without the oomph of caffeine. Maybe I need to try it from a human next time.
I hate flat whites, because of this. It never tastes like a coffee, it's just coffee-flavoured milk.
Love me a big fat cappuccino though, my go-to order always. I use it as an indication on whether the cafe is good: if the capp tastes like a flat white = bad cafe, if it tastes like coffee (and isn't burnt) = good cafe.
- My thinking behind it is that a strong coffee + warm milk = strong smooth coffee. Apparently not.
  I do go and see an actual human coffee maker on occasions but she's on the other side of town. That lady makes the best cappuccinos I've ever had.
What you are looking for is called a "Long Mac topped up" in Perth. It's basically a Flat White with an extra shot of espresso in it.
I thought a flat white was stronger than a latte. 1/3 espresso, 1/3 milk, 1/3 froth vs a latte of 1/3 espresso and 2/3 milk. Happy to be corrected though. Probably just nasty servo coffee!

I have started watching suits. Only about 10 years too late. It’s hard to find interesting shows that I don’t need to supplement with phone browsing.

My partner is watching the 3 Body Problem at the moment, truly some hard sci-fi. I want to but my attention span is dismally tiny. I'd be better off reading the books I reckon.
The bits I've seen indicate it is really good! Rare for me to stand there and read the subtitles for as long as I did haha!
I also like finding smaller YT channels (100k subs rather than 2mil subs) in niches that are interesting. There's a channel called Ants Canada thats made like a weekly serial about his HUGE terrarium ecosystem: he has a few different species of ants, mantis', lizards, spiders, crickets, etc and does introductions or culls (culls as in he accidently put in some vegetation that had fire ants and had to figure out how to get them out before they fucked the other animals). Anyway! It's good!
IDK what my point was... I just also have issues keeping my attention on a movie or show ugh
- I smashed through 3 body problem, loved it. I tried the audiobook a year or so ago and it was far too dense, had to give up quite early. I think it is translated from Mandarin too so it can seem a bit clunky. The tv series I find a lot of fun though. I don't think you need to pay toooo close attention, just enjoy the ominous spooky vibe!
- The 3 Body Problem trilogy books are far superior to the show. Recommended reading for any sci-fi enjoyer.
- I enjoyed 3 body problem except the cancer stuff. Don’t need that when I’m trying to unwind. Was that it or is there another set of episodes coming? (Or a book to buy)

Does anyone have a cat wheel for their cats? If so what did you get?
