So tired. Right now my health and pain sucks balls so not a lot is getting done (try zero). It feels a bit useless to try and progress on a hobby that constantly gets derailed. Just had a zoom appointment with a specialist and have my fingers crossed they're good going forward.

I miss the baby pudding but am still kind of getting back on my feet, the updates sound like she's doing well, and it might be good to let her to settle in so she feels more comfortable the next time she has to stay in the cattery. I might ask about picking her up on Monday because that's her week

There's an older couple who live next door. They have a bungalow out the back which they have moved into, and rented out the main house.

Can't see the old couple wanting to keep ice addicts as tenants (assuming that's the relationship) esp in a tight rental market. Maybe they're the kids or there's some other connection there...
- Yeah, might be worth asking the old couple what they think of the new neighbour-tenants, if they seem like they're also not happy, could open a conversation about what they as landlords are planning to do.
  But depends if you've ever spoken to the old couple before, and if there are other benefits to moving as well so it's not a big deal.

Tafes next intake is in July, which is le sad. But! I have an interview for a part-time role this Tuesday coming. So I can make some money in the meantime. My application to be a volunteer has also progressed.

So I think I'm on the right track to switching careers. Still gonna be a few years until I get to where I want to be with new skills (cert III is 12 months, and the cert IV is 2 years), but I feel much better.

Mr Woof and Miss Meow have now had their first experience of having a pet sitter while I am away. Mr Woof warmed to the idea once he learned walks were involved. Miss Meow thought it prudent to hide, and my pet sitter possibly believes I was lying about having a cat at all as she did not show herself the whole time. It took about an hour of me being home for her decide it was safe to come out, but she seems relaxed enough and is lounging in an arm chair doing a thorough groom now.

I had the same experience with my cat and a pet sitter. He didn't see her for an entire week lol

Fair hike all the way out there and back! That house is for sure a tear-down.
- The floor was Alice in Wonderland grade wild, and springy. The stumps and most of the flooring had dropped 10-15cm sloping away from the fireplaces.

- Yep, town water and working power. Septic tank looked like the best thing about the place. Another $10k for a caravan and I could make it work. But the house is best put in skips.

I consider a lot of the Taylor Swift mania going around to be, at best, overblown. I'm not a fan of her music either. However, one thing she should be thoroughly commended for - she has made mousy beige hair fashionable. For the first time in history.

I wonder how many mums dusted off their old Bedazzler to make TS inspired clothing.
- "Dusting off" implies that my mum stopped using it in the first place :D

I find the deification of a billionaire to be a little off putting. Same as the Elon Musk "bros".
Plus, she's the icon for white feminism, an idealogy rooted in selfishness and self absorbtion.
Whenever I've seen pictures of Taylor Swift there's always something off about her hair. I now realise it's because it seems relatively normal compared to most pop stars (aside from those curly haired ones - younger days??). The colour isn't quite as dramatic, and somehow her hair seems kind of physically flat (closer to her head) in a number of shots.
- Ok, so this is a fun topic! Things we can commend Taylor Swift for!
  Songwriting. Honestly, she has a way of bringing out feelings for people that they truly resonate with. I think this is the secret sauce to her whole thing. She writes honestly and earnestly about emotions and feelings that people can connect with. There isn't enough of that in our world.
  Empathy. She has a way of connecting to people even outside her music. She uses her platform to draw attention to things that matter - I know this hardly makes her unique among celebrities, and her PR is top-tier, but what she chooses to shine attention at is great.
  Accessibility. This one baffles me - she manages to retain an element of privacy while seeming to let her fans feel like they're friends. She brings people together in a way that I haven't seen since 80's Michael Jackson. Club membership is all very wholesome.
  Commitment. She really brings 100% to everything she puts out there. People can see it and connect to it. She doesn't turn up an hour late to a show, drunk and phone the whole thing in. She brings all she has to her shows, the constant feedback from attendance is they've had the time of their lives.
  I just wish I could bring myself to like her voice. She's so great at everything else, but I find her voice and song delivery to be barely average. She's one of the only artists where I like covers of her music better than the original. In fact, it was listening to covers of her songs that really gave me an appreciation for her amazing songwriting.
- Yep. In my young day, if you had hair like that you lost no time in using a blonding rinse, or dyeing it a darker brown. Anything, anything other than that flat mouse coloured shade. It was the ultmate in daggy, and carried the unspoken message that your parents were particularly extreme squares.

It's been 9 days of no sugar. Except for the teeny tiny tinkerbell Cherry Ripe I borrowed from the Favourites box yesterday. It does get easier.

Cherry Ripes include all the other bars. Because their flavour is so strong, when Cadbury have a bit of left over mix from other batches, it goes into cherry ripes. At least that's what I got told years ago.

There's this Chinese made Indonesian ponzi app where a user can pay rp 13 million (AUD$1300), do some basic tasks that's a little more than tapping a "download" button and watching a fake progress bar fill up, and earn a minimum of aud$45 daily.

Of course nothing is more convincing to my wife than two of her sisters and her mum, who all in less than a month got their money back plus more cleared into their banks.

Thankfully just AUD$300 later she apologises for calling me a skeptic last week. 😴

I managed to poison myself with (presumably) food somehow. Now I'm going through everything I've eaten on the last week trying to figure out what I could possibly have not cooked right, and hoping that it wasn't any food I've shared

And of course the very worst parts of it hit at 2 in the morning, and very "conveniently" 2 months after someone had the bright idea to stop subsidising 24 hour pharmacies. I even checked to see if any of the servos on uber/doordash had any useful medication, but they didn't

Just tried out Spotify's new AI DJ feature. It started out pretty well.. I like the idea of the Ice-T sounding AI guy coming in to have a little chat and shuffle the music around. It first played 3 tracks from artists I like.. then he comes back and says "Now I'll mix things up with some of the latest hits" and starts playing fuckin Salena Gomez, Taylor Swift and some Ed Sheeran sounding guy I've never heard of. NOPE.

Also, out of curiosity I let the Taylor Swift song play for a bit because I hadn't heard any of her songs since Shake It Off and wanted to see what the big deal was. It was a song called Cruel Summer and it was some of the most generic pop ever. I'm not going to sit here and judge her whole catalogue off 45 seconds of 1 song though but if it's more like that, I'm not missing out on much.

Someone inquired about the shows we were watching yesterday and while I’m more inclined to watch movies, I can recommend a doco called “The Greatest Night in Pop.”

Released last month, it’s Lionel Richie’s narration along with video footage of the “We are the World” recording session.” Proceeds of the recording going to African famine relief in 1985.

Aside from the fact that, in a single room, so many legendary musicians were able to be corralled on a single (long) night, the interesting part was how humbled everyone became. The ego’s must have deflated a bit that night. Bob Dylan looking shit scared haha. And Steve Perry…I forgot that man can really belt it.

They worked all through the night to get it done with Bruce Springsteen adding some finishing vocals at around 7 or 8 in the morning.

I was even prompted to read old Rolling Stone articles about it the next day for additional story and context .
