  • My childhood neighborhood got hit by a wildfire shortly after graduating college.

For evacuations, your best bet will be to stay with friends/family outside of the evacuation zone. I stayed at my boyfriend's (at the time) family's house. If you don't know anyone, usually there will be shelters set up in places like school gyms that you can go to. The problem with these is that there will be no privacy and you won't be able to take any pets.

I'm not sure who pays during the evacuation period, but if your home is uninhabitable, insurance should pay for any accomodations while you are waiting for your home to be fixed.

For smoke remediation, your insurance will evaluate what is necessary and should write a check to fix it. We got ~$4000 for carpet cleaning, special duct cleaning, some sort of ozone treatment for the attic and then these special sponges that absorbs soot from the walls. My parents were able to DIY a few of the things and put the money towards installing AC.

The thing no one prepared you for in this situation is the uncertainty. Pulling away from your house and seeing the fire barrelling towards it is awful. The next few days, you don't know if you'll be homeless or not. Your stuck in this state of wanting information, but the bureaucracy won't say anything (it also doesn't help in my situation the govt officials straight up lied to the media about it).

  • “He put himself squarely in the middle of the conspiracy,” Kading said of Davis and the Shakur killing. “He had acquired the gun, he had given the gun to the shooter and he had been present in the vehicle when they hunted down and located both Tupac and Suge [Knight]”

Kading noted that Davis is the last living person among the four people who were in the vehicle from which shots were fired at Shakur and Knight. Others were Anderson, Terrence “Bubble Up” Brown and DeAndre “Freaky” Smith.

“It’s a concerted effort of conspirators,” Kading said, adding that he believed that because the killing was premeditated Davis could face a first-degree murder charge.

“All the other direct conspirators or participants are all dead,” Kading said. “Keefe D is the last man standing among the individuals that conspired to kill Tupac.”

  • That was not a thing in my experience. The only thing I got a point taken off for was not checking my mirrors when turning. I did, but I guess I should have exaggerated turning my head to make it more obvious.

I'd believe it if I was told that some instructors will never give a perfect score and will always find something to ding you for, but it would be absurd to have a standard policy of failing everyone.

  • It's been a couple of years, but I'm pretty sure it was something around 5 days from exposure to feeling my first symptoms. I got it from a large event after people had stopped wearing masks regularly.

It hit me pretty fast and hard as soon as the symptoms started. I went from feeling perfectly fine to feeling very feverish. Checked my temperature and it was over 100F. The first night was the absolute worst for me. Everything hurt, I was both burning up and freezing cold. After my fever broke the next day, I was mostly fine outside of the cough which lasted a few weeks.

  • Eyes/the brain don't have frames.

The way cameras work is that they expose multiple frames to create a series of still images. The slower those frames are going, the longer they are exposed to the ambient light, thus why lower FPS allows for better picture quality in low light environments.

The way to do this with vision would be to allow more light in to your eyes than normal. Larger eyes, more dilation, more rods in your eyes, and other adaptations could improve your night vision abilities. Your best bet is to look at nocturnal animals and understand how their vision is better than ours in the dark.

  • There are numerous science, sociology, political science, etc communities...

Regardless, if you don't want people to question the news source it was probably a mistake post it (here or elsewhere) instead of posting the thing you actually wanted to discuss.

  • In addition to this, understanding the emotions you are experiencing and being able to put a name to them will help. A lot of cultural expectations pressure men to only feel anger/happiness, but there is so much more nuance. Being able to recognize that and, eventually, communicate it will be massive to this undertaking.

I'd recommend using something like an emotion wheel to define how you are feeling at any given moment in time.

  • Decided to read the article for shits and giggles.

They are blaming BLM for police refusing to do their jobs. Also they seem to be blaming them for the spike in murders during COVID lockdowns, which seems more likely to be related to everyone's mental health breaking down due to the pandemic.
