  • I buy bags of mixed frozen vegetables and then mix them in to whatever I'm making for dinner. E.g. if I'm having pasta, I'll throw some meat and veg into the sauce and serve it all on the pasta. I eat way more vegetables when it's mixed in to the main dish, than if I have them as a side.

I don't really use any tricks to eat more fruit. I just buy the ones I like and have them ready to snack on. I buy a lot of bananas, apples, grapes, etc that you can mostly just grab and eat as desired.

  • I've been considering trying to DIY some sandwich bread, but I don't bake ever so it feels intimidating. Do you have a link to the recipe? How long does it hold up before going stale?

It seems like the store bought stuff is getting so expensive, plus it's probably full of garbage I don't need to be eating. DIY is starting to seem more appealing.

  • I was not prepared for the deliberate manipulation that was done to get the child into his custody. I'd assumed she was already in his custody and there were people trying to get the custody from him. But no, she was in her biological family's custody and he tricked them into handing her over. This is straight up evil.

Link to the rundown of what happened to get to this point

  • I got into doing yoga. I did it daily for about 9 months straight in 2020, and have never felt better. I go through phases now where I can keep it up, but I can also go a while without doing it. I wish I could get back into doing it daily because I feel so much better with the consistency.

  • Be sure to check out your local library. Mine has a service where you send them examples of what you tend to like and they will send you a list of recommendations. Some of my favorite books have come from the list they gave me.

  • I'm skeptical about how well those things work. There are a few houses with them on our walking route, and they definitely bother me much more than my dog. He couldn't care less about the noise, while it gives me a headache. Maybe cats would be more sensitive to the noise than my dog, but like I said, I'm skeptical.

  • Do you have platonic friends? Humans need a community to be a part of, so if you don't have one you should start by finding one. Recognize that companionship comes in many different forms, not just romantically. Just because you have hit pause on pursuing romance, doesn't mean you should become a total hermit (unless that will make you happy, which it sounds like it wouldn't).

Find people with similar interests and hobbies you can connect over. Show up to places consistently so you can start to know the people who are doing the same things you are at the same time you do them.

  • Ah yes, Woody Allen - the paragon for appropriate relationships with women. We should certainly listen to him about what is and isn't acceptable behavior.

    /s if that wasn't clear.

  • Can confirm, my undergrad degree has nothing to do with my current career. Employers care much more about experience than your degree. You'll definitely want to tailor your resume to demonstrate the skills you've gained from your degree (Hint: Sustainability is a big deal in a lot of businesses today). If you've had any related internships, even better.

  • As someone who lives in a sunny place, and knows how much it impacts my general well-being when it's not sunny, I would absolutely move for the weather. If I lived somewhere known for being grey and rainy, I could guarantee I'd have depression. I need to live in a sunny place to function.

  • Assuming you're in the US, check out the USPS for jobs. They are understaffed and so long as you can jump through the hoops, they'll hire you. I applied there back in 2013 and when I went in for an "interview" it was more of a walkthrough of if you complete x, y, and z by the deadline you're hired. It pays well and you can get a ton of hours for overtime pay. I can't talk to the job conditions, since I ended up going with a different job at the time.

  • I like to visit historical sites and museums at the place I'm visiting. I'm also the person who will pay the tourist tax to go to the top of tall buildings. The last couple of trips have been road trips around the country I'm visiting. I also like trying foods that the place is known for (or making my spouse try it if it's something I won't like cause I can be picky).

Also, there is something to be said for the occasional staycation where you just live your normal life without having to work.
