While I hear you, and there are definitely some voters that will never, ever, ever change their mind - I encourage you to direct this energy toward the elected ones who continue to lie to their base and capitulate to the billionaires/Russia/etc.

I mean, you do understand that the Judiciary being the ones to push back is the only legal & constitutional route we can get out of this, right?

I hate to say it, but while Trump himself is pretty weak and just in it to save himself & for money, many of the people around him want nothing but power. And they are using Trump for that since he somehow continues to enthrall the populous.

Besides hoping the administration willingly decides to stop & undo the things it's doing, I personally think the judiciary pushing back is the only thing you should hope for. In my eyes, it is the only path left with any chance of nonviolence, besides again, a willing change.

Do you have an alternative for me?

Yeah if she wasn't CIA I'd perhaps understand her perspective of wanting to focus on just attacking Trump as the King

But.. this issue is so beyond Trump that focusing it on him will just make people go back to normal when he's gone - which is not okay

So they have arrested two judges. ICE and FBI are traitors.

They've told us what they're going to (and want to) do every step of the way.

But Trump fans pretend stuff isn't going to happen... even when it's literally happening

I do not promote violence. You should not commit violence. It is generally not worth it. Mmkay? Want that to be 100% clear. Additionally, violence is what Trump wants so he has an excuse to declare martial law/suspend elections/etc. It's very obvious. Violence = bad.

All that said, unless America lets itself descend into the authoritarian pit, I don't see any way out that won't involve violence at some point/level. We are beyond what was happening during the civil rights era. These people aren't interested in compromise and working together. They want to dismantle America's culture of diversity to replace it with their own.

I'm not sure there are any other methods that work if it comes down to it. Even people on the left are in denial; these people aren't joking about wanting to attack libs. They're actively preparing for it by calling all libs mentally ill, or that liberalism is a disease, etc.

Do you see what I'm saying? How are you going to try to argue with some of these people? Not all republicans are all in on this - but there's enough in power that this is very, very dangerous

All I can say is that I truly hope the courts enforce the constitution. Bring those people back and give them due process. I don't want them deported, but if that ends up happening, at least it's legal &... I struggle to say humane.

I'm not sure either. It's really hard for me to come up with things since it took a breakup for me to WANT to change, and of course I'm lucky that it's for the positive.

I really hope it doesn't take such powerful inciting incidents for a significant portion of them to change how they feel.

Were you not young before/after the start of the internet? Not trying to be snarky, it's more trying to understand perspective.

I could have been MAGA, no question. Here's my anecdote: (edit: too lazy to correct so please don't pay close attention to the tense of my words here, I was partially speaking from the perspective of being a kid again but I didn't stay consistent)

• most of my friends are online
• most of my friends say offensive stuff and while I don't really mean things (at first) I want to fit in
• this can spiral pretty easily with a bunch of kids. And it did. I've said my fair share of atrocious things online that I wish I could take back
• as a youngster, 20+ years ago, as a loner/nerd if I'm not playing games, I'm (probably) watching YouTube or anime. Rarely hangin with friends
• now as someone who's book smart(well, on some things, ofc), but especially at this point has absolutely 0 like street smarts & real people skills? Hooked into conspiracies.

I grew up in a diverse area, so I've really never believed in racist stuff. Those kind of conspiracies I used to just handwave the racism stuff away cause it wasn't the important stuff to me that I did kind of believe in. I literally even used to watch some of Alex Jones conspiracy videos.

Really easy to get lost in this crap as a teenager alone at 4am.

Like I said I grew up in a diverse area, and in one of my first real relationships, I got a lot of pushback about certain things (I was kinda blue lives matter for a bit for example) and when that ended, one of the big things I took from it was I wanted to be a more accepting person, and I've been an increasingly-raging leftist ever since.

With the rising loneliness epidemic (which actually extends to both genders - EVERYONE is increasingly isolated) I can only imagine this sort of story is increasingly common. And not everyone comes to the same conclusions about wanting to be more accepting, etc.

I was very lucky to go through those experiences and learn what I did from it. There's probably another universe where I instead got increasingly angry & further into all those things - from the cruel & crass words to the conspiracies - and am wearing a red hat

What are we personally gonna do about Russia? If you mean by force - nothing. Don't fight a land war in Asia. (In fact, conquest & imperialism is bad, mmkay?) Bombing our enemies only makes hardened future enemies. But they are attacking every democracy, and they are assaulting ours via MAGA. That is useful to get people to see. Russia, and their agents, are not working for you/us. They are infiltrating and co-opting governments around the world.
