  • No, but I did learn not to judge by appearances when a bunch of them invited me to theirs to play mario kart until morning when I got lost on the way home from a NYE party

  • A lot of this could be achieved by turning off notifications/muting them, turning off fitness tracking, deleting social media accounts, etc whilst retaining the device.

  • Depending on the camera performance, might be interested in switching to this from my pixel

  • A backflip, but this was at a houseparty for their birthday so maybe not that odd

  • Thanks, I'm on the main feddit.uk chat but would appreciate an invite if there's a mod one. More to get a feel for the approach/ensure I'm acting consistently

  • Happy to help out o> Though uh might need to move to an alternative app, as much as I love Thunder I'm not sure it supports mod actions/tools

Edit: just seen a topic pop up on asklemmy that suggests Tesseract, will take a look!

  • I've not heard of it used outside the context on royalty even historically here in the UK, perhaps there's something in that too

  • Duet from DS9 is still one of my favourite episodes of anything, ever. Could easily be in a lot of other shows/settings too

  • Had this exact thought when my cousin (umprompted by me) said he wanted to try a linux-only system on his new PC, my old desktop which I'm selling him. 5800X3D/7900XTX so hardly outdated!

  • Even if you don't have the .torrent file (I use magnet links), most torrent clients should be able to generate them. I also used qbittorrent to move the files from my old HDD to the new one when I upgraded, if you do this before you add the torrents to Transmission OP it should work

  • Dev device for Asahi Linux, don't think M3 support is quite there but if you had the time could help contribute

  • I know it's ownership status is murky at present, but I still mark BandCamp Fridays in my calendar. Being sure to download anything I buy straight onto the NAS

  • I never have cause/need to tag other users, replying usually is enough for me

  • Still got my Powercolor HD4870 somewhere, from the first PC I built/bought for myself

  • Bizarre, I wouldn't expect issues with Linux on that hardware config. Perhaps try something with newer packages, I have a pretty similar setup like yours except for the CPU (7800X3D) with no issues on EndeavourOS. Fwiw, I have the Powercolor Reaper 9070XT which runs hot and loud out of the box but is pretty good now with a slight undervolt and tweaked fan curve

  • Excellent article, agree with pretty much all of it. The cuts to public services instead of heavier taxes on those earning more (including myself), corporations, capital gains, landlords, etc has definitely added to a loss of social cohesion, as these contribute by far the most of refresh, renewal and refurbishment of public spaces and resources, let alone the establishment of new ones. My town has seen the closure of public pools, libraries, walk in centres over the past decade or so, leaving everyone high and dry except for... those who don't need to rely on them.

Seeing the political class shamelessly exploit their fortunate position, companies take advantage of "increases in costs driven by supply chain inflation, the "panic" over trans women and it's no bloody surprise no one wants to talk to anyone else. One of my main escapes is clubbing, not just for the music, the dancing, but the connection that can happen with a complete stranger who "gets" the music and feeling like you do (be it on various substances or stone cold sober, I can't cane it like I used to...)

  • I dig it but tough to fit that in my top 5
