  • What is most interesting about that site you linked is further down the page - it shows the number of subs still growing - but that graph cuts off at 2022. The post and comments per day plunged in early July and have not recovered. And the top poster and commenter is the same user - u/deleted

And as you say, reddit has alienated a heap of good mods - and they are the true foundation of a site like this, not users

  • This is increasingly a problem in my country (New Zealand) too, its not just the USA. It seems to be mostly a Western world thing. Going to Japan and places like that where the social contract is still upheld is very refreshing

  • Street numbers and signage are censored too. There was a driveway off it, but the whole location had already been shown extensively on a youtube video that was the subject of the thread and had thousands of views already, so it wasnt as if it was information that wasnt very widely available and public already

  • I find that reading some crime stories in the news about some genuine pieces of shit shuts that voice down pretty effectively. Gives some perspective and reminds you that there are far far worse people in the world and that you are merely a flawed human as opposed to a malevolent, hateful psychopath that relishes in the pain and misery they cause others

  • They're awesome in the right place and for the right applications. I have two. But if I'm going short distance or somewhere really crowded I prefer to cycle, and in decent weather its really enjoyable and good for fitness too

  • Because my conscience doesnt create constant alerts notifications and warning messages that disrupt my sleep and bother me constantly while awake if I dont try as far as I can to be a decent human being. Some people seem to have these alerts etc disabled or the entire conscience app disabled or not even installed to start with though, I cant imagine how they get though life otherwise

  • It hasnt suffered a lot - so far. But it is like Chinese water torture - drip drip drip, bit by bit it is slowly eroding, some subs far worse affected than others. Most niche subs and local subs are still going strong, but I suspect after a while they will start to collapse one by one as moderators leave and users come here, or to discord or other alternatives

As much as I want to see reddit burn, I think we are more likely to see a slow, almost imperceptible crumbling away

  • Not Made In China. My A31 is made in Vietnam. Primary reason I bought it

Yes, there is bloatware, but I have disabled a lot of it, and put Nova Launcher on it to clean up the UI and customise to my liking

I have been happy with it, have had the screen replaced on it when it got broken, was not that expensive

  • So basically the bank employee just gave out some of your money in cash to someone that rocked up and asked for it, without checking with you? Sounds like a fireable offence to me

I wish I could use your boycott technique on one particular organisation but they are a government department :-(

  • Yeah the one time I asked to speak to the manager the first person I spoke to at their call centre (who was really trying her best to be helpful) did exactly that. It was her manager that was obstructive and dismissive, and that when I asked to speak to their manager in turn - who was even worse

  • I moved to Deezer from You Tube Music a couple of years ago. I was on YTM for about six months after Google shut down Google Play Music (which was awesome). You Tube Music was a steaming turd, flakiest app I have ever used.

Deezer has been fantastic. Android app very rarely gives me any issues, and has probably the most extensive catalogue of any streaming service I have ever used (although it is a bit disorganised and shambolic at times), The Premium subscription is reasonably priced, especially if I use the yearly sub rather than the monthly one, and sound quality is great (although I only use HQ audio, not Hifi). I believe they pay artists more than most others

Other big upside is that there is NO limit to how many tracks you can download into a device if you are a Premium user! I have half a terabyte of country music in my phone. The only limitation is how much storage your device has. You can only download playlists / music into a maximum of three devices, I only have my phone and a waterproof media player so not an issue for me

Only downsides are the somewhat disorganised catalogue I mentioned - some artists have more than one artist profile with different albums scattered across them, and when two different artists share the same name they often get mushed together into the one profile. Discographies tend to be a bit random in the way they are organised. But careful use of the search function will find almost anything and everything.

Reorganising/ rearranging large playlists on the web client/ browser can get a bit flaky, with a really big playlist I find its sometimes easier to just rebuild it from scratch rather than move large blocks of tracks around

The MP3 upload tool is pretty clunky and has no folder feature, and a limit of only 2000 tracks upload. But because they have such an extensive catalog you shouldnt need it much

The downloaded music section in the app has no folders either which would be nice but isnt a deal breaker. Only other issue I have is that the Play button for playlists on the Android app defaults to shuffle mode which is a flaw shared with Spotify, and there is no way to disable shuffle even for Premium users. This is the ONLY thing YouTube Music gets right

I havent used Tidal but I have heard their catalogue is much more limited and what little exploration I did bore that out
