  • External HDDs, external DVD drives, laptop cooling pads, if you were looking for examples.

  • I think it was ElectroBOOM video that taught me counting to 31 on one hand, which means both are 1,023 maximum.

10 fingers, each holding one value.
    Example:

    FingerValue
    Left thumb1
    Left index2
    Left middle4
    Left ring8
    Left pinkie16
    Right pinkie32
    Right ring64
    Right middle128
    Right index256
    Right thumb512

    Together up to 1,023.

    Edit: https://youtube.com/shorts/0TBEka89sKc The video

  • As you wished:

It's 42x24, so only 1,008 pixels which fits into 1,023.

Edit: Wait a minute, on fingers. What if you draw lines/grid on them and make dots in the grid. Hmmm. How many can you easily fit? Anyway...

Edit 2: Holy shit, why Base 2? You can make different shapes in different orientations. Holy shit!

Wait, am I dumb? Just write it in decimal at that point.

  • So I just checked random packaging from sour gummy candies. 65.1% sugar. Damn. So 3kg would be 1,953g of sugar.

You know, I just thought, "I could do that", but probably nuh-uh. That's like 2 months of recommended max. added sugar intake.

Although, recommended is just that, recommended. Those 25 - 36g are like one can of coke. Well, actually for women that can of coke exceeds recommendations already.

  • OH, speaking of egg cartons. The larger ones (30 eggs) if clean make a pretty good laptop cooling pad. If you want to use laptop on a bed, this is the way (cheaply).

  • So I just tried Firefox Nightly. Seems to work fine now. I actually had to disable automatic font scaling, otherwise it was funky (something too large, something too small). The desktop mode toggle is in Settings -> Site settings on top. "Always request desktop site" was on by default on my phone (possibly related to custom high DPI setting).

  • Yep, I've got Fennec installed. But only Firefox nightly had... I don't remember what. Probably desktop-like tabs. I forgot.

But Firefox still has issues with scaling desktop sites which Opera does perfectly. Well, actually, Firefox does too in desktop mode. I think the only thing I am missing is permanent desktop mode. When I only changed UA, I had the scaling issues.

Well, I just checked since I updated Fennec yesterday because I had leftover data. The toggle seems to be there now. But the tabs don't show up desktop-style. I should re-check Firefox Nightly. I think that toggle was the only missing thing for me.

  • As a packaging when selling stuff. At least that's the plan. Unfortunately some things will clearly have to hit e-waste since I can't even sell them for 5 cents.

  • Firefox. It was the default in Linux Mint when I first started using a computer, and I am used to it. (Yep, I started with Linux.)

On my phone, shamefully Opera. It's the best for desktop web experience. I don't like mobile websites.

  • From: https://support.saily.com/hc/en-us/articles/15751399206172-How-do-I-install-the-Saily-eSIM-on-my-device#Android-Manual

It seems you could install it on different device then. There's also "share eSIM to other person", which likely too just shows a QR code.

I don't know about Saily, but I doubt they would want ID. At least for data-only SIMs, if they do offer ones with phone number.

I did a similar thing with a different eSIM provider when I was concerned about privacy, though eventually I did put it on my phone.

I don't know what else to use on Linux to get disposable Android containers.

Anyway, while it is not related to privacy, they also seem quite expensive. At least for Europe. I don't know where you're going. I've used BNESIM, which funnily is cheaper than local SIMs for small data amounts (like 1 or 3GB), especially with SIMs without expiration. That can be used without app for sure, but I've had to use non-blocking DNS.

Anyway, whatever you choose, use virtual payment cards. Something like privacy.com. There's a ton of eSIM providers and I am sure they're not all super safe and legit. My bank provides those thankfully.

  • Nudist beach is a pretty good explanation.

  • Proceeds to drink even more water and die from brain swelling.

  • How does DD-WRT fare? I've been using that, but I only have old routers. I mean, old. But I only have mobile data, so they're mostly for playing around. Except for the one which supports Wireguard in DD-WRT. That's very useful as a client. Unfortunately, it's also the least stable one, rebooting every few minutes and eventually ending up in a bootloop after 1 to 2 hours.

I've got I think 8 routers now, 6 of them have Wi-Fi, 1 has 802.11n (the unstable one), the rest peaks with 802.11g.

  • Well, realistically, things have changed. Without social media you get quite left out. Easily forgotten even.

  • But Mastodon isn't Matrix. It's not just a chat server, but regular social media.

  • Who downvoted you?

Anyway, if you have directory-based music organization, Navidrome won't take that, sadly. However, it will take m3u playlists.

So I can just ls playlistdir/* > Playlist.m3u and get that directory as a playlist. Simple, lazy solution.
Oh, you can also add internet radios to Navidrome.

And one cool trick, which is also pretty good to test out Navidrome without effort, in Termux it is already in the repos, so you can just effort-free apt install navidrome, run it and play around.

  • Her friend group has a group text and she wants to keep up with everyone but doesn’t want to get the ding notifications constantly.

On Android you can disable app notifications. Some apps also allow it per group/person.
