This is madness

Those averages have nothing to do with summer. In fact many of those locations don’t obey daylight saving time at all, so no, your point is just incorrect. I understand you are stating your opinion, but your opinion would affect the vast majority of the planet in a negative way. Having people drive to work in the dark is a much better outcome for the majority of the planet than having it get dark when the majority of the planet is doing activities unrelated to work.
Most people don’t sleep based on the sun, they sleep based on their work schedule. That’s why DST is superior, because work schedules will just move earlier to make sure that they’re capturing when people are first waking up, you’ll never get rid of that. What you can do is make it so that it’s light when people are performing after school activities, club sports, events, hanging out with friends, etc.
You can always use blackout curtains, so any argument about sleep is never going to be relevant to this conversation. What is relevant is work and play.
There’s plenty of temperate locations, sounds like you just haven’t bothered to look. I live in one, but it’s in America so I wouldn’t suggest that to anyone not already here. I’m guessing further north in the uk or in Northern Ireland you would find plenty of temperate regions.
It could be a badly designed hoodie as well. I started watching a YT channel that examines different clothing brands lately and I learned a lot about how the actual fabric choices and panel shapes affect the comfort of the clothing in ways like this.
Your logic doesn’t make sense. In other threads you’re arguing that you can’t go out when it’s hot, so stay inside instead. That’s how you get ready for bed anyway, by staying inside. How does the sunsun staying up later change your night routine at all?
Guess what it does do? Make afternoon outdoor activities much safer. Biking, rock climbing, running, literally any outdoor activity is much safer in daylight.
The time doesn’t affect the weather. It’s still going to be hot or cold out for the exact same length of time. Time zone changes only affect whether you’re working or playing at those times. I’d rather have the option than be forced to be working when the sun is out.
Where do you live? Maybe you could choose a more temperate climate
First of all, I don't wake up with the sun. Having it rise earlier is better for me to wake up naturally, and the normal time would actually help me get up early enough to enjoy the cooler morning before work.
I’m guessing you meant you do wake up with the sun. It doesn’t matter what time the sun comes up then, just wake up with it and enjoy the cool morning then.
Second, I am just as happy when the sun goes down. In fact, if it didn't go down so fucking late I would have an extra hour of less blazing hot temps as the sun goes down to relax outside before bed.
This literally makes no sense. The temperature will be just as hot at whatever time of day it is no matter whether it’s Standard time or Daylight Saving time.
I would also like to get to sleep at a reasonable hour, but DST makes that harder.
Exactly. Standard time makes this harder. I would like to get sleep at 5 am, a reasonable hour. You do realize the majority of the planet doesn’t go to sleep until after 11pm right? https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/average-bedtime-by-country
You’d literally be forcing the majority of the population to get even less sleep, since the sun would be interrupting their sleep more. If you go to sleep before 11pm you are in the absolute extreme minority.
I thought we do know the depth of the bunkers though. And that American bombs can’t go that deep, even multiple of them
Sorry I’m not saying to complain so they change it. I’m saying complain and now you have a written record for osha that the temperature is unreasonable. You can now force their hand.
So it’s inaccurate, but also top secret inaccurate. Why didn’t they fix the inaccuracy in the top secret report?
It handles memory just fine. I’ve run them all alongside each other for weeks with no issues (with a completely full hard drive from images). I rarely close programs or turn my computer off. Yes, an MBP is a great computer and well worth it, but they’re no where near as light and portable. If you’re doing image editing on the go then the air is a fantastic option.
Social media emerged as a term to describe Facebook and MySpace, places where you added connections between friends and shared moments of your life with them, not a comment section on a website. Using the term “social media” to describe something that existed before those sites existed devalues the actual worth of forums as a meeting place. There is clearly a difference between something like Twitter and Facebook who’s only purpose is to show you ads and things to get you angry using algorithms and places like Lemmy and really any sort of comment section (Reddit and 4chan included) that are simply people talking to each other.
I would expect most people here would be able to understand the difference and how referring to things that are distinctly not Facebook or Twitter as being in the same category. Reddit, Lemmy, your random double edge razor forum, etc are not social media. They’re forums. They’ve existed for thousands of years.
forum noun fo·rum ˈfȯr-əm plural forums also fora ˈfȯr-ə Synonyms of forum 1 a : the marketplace or public place of an ancient Roman city forming the center of judicial and public business b : a public meeting place for open discussion The club provides a forum for people interested in local history. c : a medium (such as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas 2 : a judicial body or assembly : COURT 3 a : a public meeting or lecture involving audience discussion The town has scheduled a public forum to discuss the proposal. b : a program (as on radio or television) involving discussion of a problem usually by several authorities
Social media has nothing to do with being social. People were social on websites long before “social media” existed. Calling forums “social media” is just conflating forums (which have no requirement of having any sort of algorithmic popularity or ranking) with those that do, like Facebook.
Your description of Reddit is literally a description of a forum. For the past 40 years it’s been that way.
Reddit isn’t social media, YouTube isn’t social media. People started branding anything with a comment thread as social media and it’s nonsensical. Criteria for social media: 1. Must allow following any user 2. Users must not be anonymous 3. Must be able to interact with, chat, send messages to, etc. any user. 4. All of the above must be the main point of the site.
Reddit is a forum of forums. The point is aggregated news feed for different forums. User to user social interaction is not the main point, and the user to user interaction that occurs is forum interaction, which existed decades before social media.
YouTube is a video sharing site. It has comment sections just like any news site.
If YouTube is social media then literally any news site is social media. If Reddit is social media then every forum on the planet is social media. Neither of those things make sense, therefore they’re not social media.
Sorry I just absolutely hate that everyone refers to anything with a comment section as social media now. It completely devalues the word and makes it meaningless.
In no world are 4+ year old cars with 20k kms on them “new”.
“Paperweight”/“chromebooks” yet can run davinci, Lightroom, PS, and IntelliJ at the same time? I mean complaining about the cost sure, but MacBook Air with the Mx chips are just as powerful as the old Intel MBPs, if not much more powerful.
Judy Crook, who runs the bookshop, told the Guardian that, though as “a point of basic Christian belief, we welcome everybody”, they did not want to promote homosexuality and “we’re not happy with the gay rights situation”.
“We have to respect other people’s views. But we didn’t want the flag flying outside our shop.”
She even admits it’s not Christianity saying to hate LGBTQ folk. She’s just a bigot.
Your logic gets more and more obtuse. You want to go outside, but you want to avoid the sun, you want to do activities outside, but only in a two hour timespan (completely ignoring commuting and that many activities take longer than that). You talk about heat stroke like it’s happening to every single person who goes outside.
This comment makes even less sense. You want to be outside, but you don’t want sun, but you want to sleep when it’s 8 pm, but that’s the coolest time of the day if it’s not dst. Like seriously, none of your argument makes sense. And fyi, I spend the majority of my day outside. Even working from home, I’ll work in a hammock outside. But I’m also not the average person. The average person commutes to a location to work and then has to come back home, get ready for their activities and then go from there. All of your suggestions are completely at odds with that.
And fyi, shade exists. This is honestly one of the most troll conversations I’ve ever participated in, acting like the sun burns you the second you step outside and you want to be outside without the sun. If you want to be outside without the sun then go out when it’s dark. You can wake up at your normal 5am time and get a great amount of dark cool weather. And the rest of us can live normally.
