Yeah the myth that teachers don’t work in the summer needs to die. My mom was a teacher and she worked just as much if not more during the summer, for the reasons you stated.

That’s just a dumb way to act like those scientists don’t have a will of their own. Those scientists have ethics (or a lack thereof). They have their own will. They are not forced to work on the project that has no scientific outcome. They’re either working on it because they’re bad scientists, because they’re evil, or because they think it’s cool. All of which is bad science. It’s not capitalism’s fault. It’s unethical scientists.

But it’s not a zoo, like even in the slightest. It’s a theme park.

They don’t have a full dinosaur genome so they literally make stuff up. Not only that, but just like with the Colossal Bioscience stuff that’s literally happening right now, there’s no learning for these brought-back-to-life creatures so they will not behave anything like their actual prehistoric counterparts. It is bad science because there’s no reason to be doing the science at all. It won’t replicate anything from the past (for so so so many reasons) and it has so many unethical things to get past before it’s even slightly in -eh- territory.

There’s a recent Behind the Bastards episode on the main dude behind Colossal (who is actually a very well known scientist) and exactly how he is using science to do bad things without considering the consequences.

lol, no it’s not easy. You saying “easy” doesn’t mean it is in any sense of the word. Like the person you’ve been responding to before said, usb c can support many things and not support others. For example, USB C cables can literally be unidirectional! That sure isn’t listed because it’s assumed to work bidirectionally, but it’s not a requirement. I literally have a unidirectional usb c cable in fact.

Just cause it says 480 doesn’t mean jack when

1. You weren’t talking about this cable originally, you were making a claim about a cable that literally wasn’t mentioned in the article. I gave an example of a cable that directly disproved your comment in a facetious manner.
2. No consumer should be expected to know usb c standards (that’s literally the point of this conversation)
3. 480 Mbps has nothing to do with supporting video. Did you know that USB C cables can be unidirectional? As in, they only work plugged in in one direction. You know how I know that? Cause I’ve soldered usb-c cables myself. I own one that only plugs in in one direction (and works)! I’m honestly very surprised you’ve only had issues with charging, do you not need them for data? So many of my cables are charging only, they literally do not function for data at all. It’s a nightmare.

And you’ll never see it on an Apple product, though you’ll never find an Apple product that isn’t supporting the full standard it’s still a problem when you’re trying to find a cable and aren’t sure if you’re using a real Apple one or a lookalike.

In addition to what you’re saying, a big part of the movie is why are we doing this? Is there anything to be gained from it? We’re currently having that conversation with the “dire wolves” that Colossal Bioscience has created. They’re not actually dire wolves, in any sense of the word, so all we’re learning is how to genetically modify creatures. We’re not learning anything about the creatures themselves. There’s no purpose to doing the same with Dinos, there’s no dna left to match against and the environment is completely different, they wouldn’t act the same at all.

The latest tech isn’t proven to last, might be harder to integrate, might require making design choices that affect the production line, the reliability of the phone, the battery longevity, the supply chain, the operating system, etc. Using the newest tech is a surefire way to make sure you have to do a recall, if you’re the biggest companies on the planet.

The infrared cooling paint has other issues, like it doesn't withstand damage easily and the surface texture needs to be maintained very well. But like, white paint is the cheapest kind of paint, just due to commonality.

Alternatively, why aren't we growing plants on all the roofs, that would absorb even more heat without requiring air conditioning, and it would improve air quality, it could be used for farming, etc. Now that one I can understand being more expensive, but you might be able to offset it with sales of whatever you're growing up there, but that's really unlikely. So white paint really seems like a no-brainer.

Why wouldn’t collisions matter in a hash map? They’re directly attributable to the speed of the hash map. In fact I would venture to say that collisions are directly attributable to speed in all situations. That matters, right? Especially at the language level.

I mean you are more tightly coupled. It’s way more likely that someone is going to pull the git submodule (especially if you’re doing this with multiple projects) than the someone updating the version of the library inadvertently. This applies even more if you’ve created the library and deployed it to your own artifactory yourself.

That isn’t the one from the picture and I’ve never seen one of those in the wild. Not that they don’t exist, but the comment I replied to said “those” referring to the one in the image, which clearly doesn’t have a pinhole camera.

Edit: yeah, no camera. So the new one has a camera, but the old one, the one from the meme, does not. I’ve never seen the new one, have seen plenty of the old one.
