  • This pisses me off like crazy. Animal abuse is an extreme hot button for me, so when I hear these stories of people deliberately abusing animals it really makes my blood boil.

The people who are selling these exotic animals should all be executed by firing squad. Or at least locked up for the remainder of their lives. The are criminal idiots with no ethics or morals.

And as for the assholes buying these creatures, what training did this fucking idiot have to care for these animals? What knowledge did they have about their dietary needs and habitat requirements? And what about medical care?

This is worse than raping kids and putting them in basement cells to torture. There is no more thoroughly disgusting and nightmarish crime than hoarding animals and buying and selling wild animals. This is absolutely the worst crime any human can commit.

  • it wouldn't have to be a global threat, we'd almost eradicated measles but some parents refuse to do what's right and prefer to let their kids die and get horribly sick than get them the required vaccinations. Such people should never be allowed to have kids in the first place, because being antivax is a sign of abberant and dangerous mental illness.

  • Jesus, stop all this ridiculous nonsense. The Acting AG at the execution said it went "textbook," the execution began at 8:00am and ended at 8:15 am and went exactly as it was supposed to go. There was nothing "experimental" or "cruel" about it. It was a lot more humane that lethal injection and lot more humane than a firing squad.

The man who was executed was the one who DEMANDED to be executed by nitrogen gas, it was his final wish, nobody forced it on him. No execution is ever going to be nice and pretty to look at. Shooting the guy would not exactly be a wonderful thing to behold.

  • Blaming Biden for the genocide in Gaza is like blaming trump for Russia deciding to invade Ukraine. Yes Biden should be more forceful in speaking out against this genocide and enacting sanctions against Israel, but it's Israel that is the actual genocidal monster here. It isn't Biden that wanted this war or that is trying to eradicate the Palestinians, and all this misplaced anger is only going to ensure that Israel continues down the same path.

  • While that's good news overall, I'm unhappy to think that it means 75 percent of adults still believe in superstitious dark ages fictional nonsense. At least the upcoming generation seem to be smarter people and less apt to fall under the influence of the evils of religious belief.

It's more healthy not to believe in a god, than to believe in one. And it's more healthy to put your energy into human relationships that into fictional religious ones.

  • It's obvious you don't live here in Utah. Nobody who has lived or traveled here would ever say people obey anything close to the speed limit here. Just last night, another batch of stories on the local news about drivers going too fast, that killed several school kids and one that wiped out a whole family who were stopped on the side of the road.

Utah is all about idiots willfully killing people. That really should be our state motto.

  • Wow I'm so happy I won't have to be part of the world you live in - where it's OK for idiots to speed and where cops (because they're law enforcers) are "bad guys." Jesus what a messed up set of values you people have. No wonder our country is going down the toilet.

  • Well it's probably something to do with this @#$@# computer I'm using. It's old as hell and it can't even open a JPEG let alone a movie file. I can't even get the most basic programs to run on this thing.

So I'm sure the problem is on this end of things.

  • There's actually development going on everywhere. Where I grew up in Utah it was all fields and very open, now it's all developed into high rise high price condos. And everywhere you go here, is under some kind of new housing development. They can't make them fast enough to keep up with the demand.

Now I have no idea why people want to move here and why housing demand is so high here. Of all places to live! Of course I'm probably just sick of Utah having lived here for so long. There are tons of jobs here, but they are all low wage unless you're a lawyer or a surgeon.

If I had my choice I sure as hell wouldn't be here, they can have my spot.

  • And so the Doomsday clock moves a few ticks closer to midnight. We're bound to have a nuclear war eventually, maybe even within the next 30 years at some point. It's like anything else, they don't make nuclear weapons to just sit around and never be used. If they're making them, at some point they will use them.

  • Governor Babbott wants the state guards to be able to shoot migrants at will. I guess just murdering kids by letting them get skewered with razor wire and drown isn't fast enough for him.

The time is quickly approaching when Texas will be firing on migrants and killing them without mercy right left and sideways. Mark my words.

  • Luckily I landed in my parents' home when they passed on, so I had a place to go, but without that I'd be out on the street. In Utah housing and rent prices are unaffordable to almost everyone.

If I were homeless though, one thing for sure, I'd start heading South from here no matter what. Whether I had to hitchhike, ride a train, or steal a bike, I'd head South to Arizona or California or even to Southern Utah because winter here in Salt Lake City is brutal and they don't even open warming shelters until it falls below 18 degrees (which if has several times already this year).

  • In Utah (where I am) renters are unable to rent at all anymore. Housing and rent prices are higher here than they are in Hawaii. I was in a single bedroom apartment (admittedly a nicer one with lots of space and a great view) but I paid through the nose, almost twice as much as I made in a month at my job. It was ridiculous, and that was back in 2018.

Now the prices are so high, even people with six figure incomes are out in the street. There is no affordable housing here in Utah anymore. The small one-bedroom brick home my grandparents lived in (which I think they bought fro about $45,000 back in the day) is now going for 6 million dollars.

And that's in a very LOW rent neighbhorhood. Houses here are only being bought by people in other states with mega amounts of money, who then turn around and use them as rental properties for people visiting from other rich states.

  • The reason "punishments" like traffic tickets exist at all is exactly what you said - laws by themselves don't seem to work to get people to drive at the speed limit (or close to it even). How else can you regulate and enforce them? If not by issuing tickets or fining people who SHOULD know better (and yet continue to act like imbeciles behind the wheel).

The speed limit laws are there for a reason. People ignore them because people are assholes. So - how do you enforce the law when people WILLFULLY refuse to see the reason to follow them?

  • How is a duck like a doctor? They can both shove their bills up their ass. (!) Sorry that's a joke my dad used to say to his own doctor. Anyway -if you wanna be a duck , be a duck. But - be an educated duck and do the school thing anyway. I know that school isn't fun and games and, most of life isn't going to be fun and games.

But at least it does put you on a path toward a little better life, if you ask me. I wasn't fond of school until about high school, when for some reason I really took off and got into it, went on to college, then after getting my BA I went back to college for four years because I loved it.

So school isn't always a burden. It can be a very healthy thing if you approach it the right way.

  • Why go into a relationship with a man who makes less than you do? Because -- you love them and want to be with them. What other reason does there need to be. Your relative incomes shouldn't be the primary factor that determines whether you become a couple

  • Well there IS a country in Europe called Georgia, located in Eastern Europe and West Asia. It is part of the Caucasus region. In America the people of Georgia ACT like it's its own country, but it ain't. But then again people here in Utah act like our state is actually the whole world, so......

  • Dehydrated water is great if you're going on a trip through a desert wilderness, carry some of it with you. You never know when you'll need it.

Just add water, to fill the whole can up, and voila, you've got instant water! It's amazing. : 0
