I am now home and relaxing after a day of feeling like I was running around aimlessly. Driving 100 on the Tulla was fun, I got home from the city quick fast.
I left the ramen restaurant hungry. Youβd think $25 would get you a decent sized ramen but no. Two tiny pieces of pork belly. And the broth was like chicken soup.
I had an accident trimming my beard last night, the length attachment fell off while using and took a huge chunk of it out. Didn't have any other option but to trim it all off. I kept the mo and some of the "soul patch" (had to look up what that's called, strange name). I haven't been hairless on my face like this for years, it's an adjustment. Feeling wind on my cheeks this morning was weird and kinda nice. Maybe this was divine intervention to change it up.
Melonball on a warm-ish day going down a treat. I purchased this melonball as it was on sale and regular sliced watermelon was not. It's sweeter, tastier, and you get more fruit from it because the skin is pretty thin.
I'm sad that I watched the trailer. The US version is one of my favourite shows... why are they just rehashing the same main character traits? The boss is trying to be like Michael, there's a Dwight character in there, what the hell.
It wasn't too bad during the day today, but yesterday the wind was freezing. The mornings have gone cold again and tomorrow's forecast looks terrible. Fool's spring is a real thing!
I donβt pay until Iβve closely inspected the job theyβve done, usually 1 or 2 days later depending on what the work is. Cos they ainβt coming back once theyβve been paid. I learned this the hard way. And I need more than 3 hours on a a work day to do what I need to do to be satisfied of a job well done.
The trades left my place around 2pm, sent me their invoice then, 3 hours later I get a message βhi just checking you received my invoice?β as to prompt me to pay now. Are you serious? I get a whole 3 hours before a follow up?
Plumbers at my place today fixing the cause of my recent sewer pipe blockages, costing me a pretty penny but I have no choice. Hate forced spending of money on property maintenence, and especially on something I won't be able to see. Backyard is being dug up to replace an underground pipe, some plants had to get pulled out which is annoying. Didn't have the best sleep and they turned up so early so I'll be knocking back a few coffees to get through today.
I'm doing an open day trial at a co-working space today as I seriously need to get out of the house at least one day during the week, full time WFH gets super monotonous and negatively affects my mood. As sad as this sounds, I was excited today to get dressed up and leave my house on a work day. The office I'm at is new and super nice, if a bit loud. It's nice to be around people during work time but nobody doing the trial (I think we're all sitting in the same area) is talking to one another? I'm not sure it's worth paying to use a co-working space where I just keep to myself, I can do that at home for free. I need to suss whether the place organises networking opportunities for members to mix, to make a membership worth it.
Iβve seen under 170c per litre around lately, Iβd be re-locking. Just used my app, found 164.9/l. When I was in NZ petrol was almost $3/l! We have it good.
Back from my week off in NZ. Absolutely stunning scenery all around, it was just one incredible vista after another and I wondered how this place was real.
Had a couple days skiing as well, thankfully I remembered how to snowboard even though the last time I was at the snow was something like 8 years ago, much fun had. One aspect I had forgotten is how bloody expensive skiing is. It was more worth it for this trip because I wasn't just going there for skiing, but I can't imagine sinking that kind of money to go to the Victorian ski resorts.
Back at it today and still exhausted even after two recovery sleeps, not even the wind could keep me awake last night. I think I've reached the age where I need my own accom when going away with a group of friends, because I was only getting 5 - 6 hours of sleep in our Airbnb house every night and while I didn't really feel it there, as soon as I got home it all hit me.
Apparently I missed a lot of wind?! My backyard looked like it had been trashed.
And now torrential rain with crazy wind, holy crap
Edit - the chaos is over but that was a super strong storm when it got going, lucky the worst part didnβt last too long. The wind was insane with hail mixed in.
Drains blocked again, second time in 6 months this has happened. A call out fee on a Saturday for plumbers does not come cheap. And if itβs tree roots again in the same spot as last time, Iβll have to get the drains re-lined to plug the holes that the roots are getting in. Which is $$$. I did say if this happened again Iβd do the re-lining, now I have to. Crap start to the weekend.
