Doesn't matter the reason for your termination, you always get your annual leave paid out. Did they ask you not to work out your notice period? Because then you should get that paid out too on top of leave, depends on why you were terminated though. Check Fair Work website to make sure you got paid everything you are entitled to.
Tired from my labours, but finally sitting down to relax before bed. Iβm rewatching Seinfeld, have needed a comfort show lately. Something Iβve watched before but enjoy watching again, requires not much concentration and is from a simpler time.
Terrible morning. Woke up late, by the time I was ready to leave home I was going to miss the next train and the one after that wasn't for 25 minutes for some reason. Got to train station only to realise that I left my laptop charger at home. Had to watch the train go by that I would now miss. Back home, then back to station, just made the next train. When I got to Parliament to catch a tram to my co-working office, there was a protest happening so all trams going in the direction I needed to go were stuck. I then had to walk 25 minutes from the city, carrying two bags mind you. It was really comical how nothing lined up for me today. On the bright side, I got a lot of steps in this morning and had a really good coffee once I finally arrived.
In a few weeks, I'll be staying at a hotel with a buffet breakfast included in the stay price. This hotel doesn't come cheap, so I feel it's my duty to squeeze every bit of value out of the price.
Is it wrong if I take a few items away from the buffet for later enjoyment? I won't be obvious about it - the take away items will be hidden in a tote bag I'll bring in with me. Easy things to take away - some pastries, fruit, not hot food. I've never done this before, but planning how to get away with it has been exciting.
Some days I have a pep in my step, today there is no pep. Feel like Iβm just dragging myself around to do the things I need to do and no motivation for work.
This mood calls for happy songs playlist and a nice walk in the sun.
I find it odd the LL is at the inspection if he has a REA managing the property? And the whole interaction, yikes. The LL will probably have keys. Stay the hell away!
Looking at houses in locations I'd love to live in but can't afford is a real one. Also, I was deeply fantasising about moving to NYC when I travelled there a couple of years back, asking people I met there about their experience in moving, even though I knew deep down that I'd never do it. It's nice to dream!
Millennial here and while I'm generalising, I don't think our generation is following in boomer footsteps in setting workplace culture. Although the biggest change to workplace culture in my lifetime has been thanks to a global pandemic, with the boomers now trying to pedal us backwards.
I sent my biggest new client proposal today (in terms of dollar value) since starting this little insignificant business of mine. I thought it would take years before I'd be pitching for work of this value, but a few things lined up to get this opportunity. Spent hours thinking over the pricing to quote, resisting the urge to quote super cheap just to get in the work. I'm not about being the very cheapest, because I take pride in what I do and doing it well. But also I'm a one-man show so I need to be realistic on what people are going to pay for me vs bigger businesses. They probably come to me expecting cheaper. Thinking of pricing for my work sucks.
Fingers crossed they go ahead! It will keep me busy for a bit.
Sitting in this glorious sun trying out a new banh mi place. Viet ice coffeeβs hit different, itβs like 5 coffees in one without being too bitter. Buzzing right now and wondering what to do with all this energy before I crash hard.
Sounds like it was for the best to leave anyway, even if it feels crappy now. You'll look back and think this was the best thing that could have happened
