  • @Hdcase Microsoft has a focus as publisher to publish on PC/Steam, Playstation and Switch, alongside mobile platform and TVs with pre installed streaming and access to Game Pass. The Xbox consoles is only a slice of the entire eco system Microsoft is building up.

  • @Marmanvii Doesn't happen for me. OH WAIT! I just noticed this is Lemmy. I am on Kbin and saw this through federated content (or through subscribed servers). So never mind then.

  • @mancy I mainly use Hot and New. What is broken about Hot? And I don't understand how Top works, because its neither top likes nor top comments. Edit: Never mind, I'm on Kbin and this topic is about Lemmy.

  • @keenkoon I wonder if it would make sense to store a regular compiled code and the extensions into one binary. And only load the extensions if the binary is executed on such an architecture, otherwise be compatible to older architecture.

  • @2tone Too small for what? If your goal is to play on the device, then don't waste your money. If your goal is to have a fun accessory just for the lolz, then this is a nice "object". I find the price a bit spicy, otherwise it would be fun to have it. Miniature buttons and controls and 1.5" display aren't just meant to be played. If you really want to play, there are better options.

  • @muddybulldog Apple provides a number of 85% of developers not paying commission and defends the price is not high. On the other hand I believe the price is high and therefore less people will pay. It's a simple math; make it cheaper, and more developers are willing to pay. Otherwise it probably doesn't make financial sense.

  • The megacorp has previously said that 85% of developers on the App Store do not pay any commission.

Probably because the prices are too high? This point from Apple to defend the price, is actually against in my opinion. Probably only those rich companies have the money to pay. If the prices were lower, then more indie devs could pay.

  • @focus Is that the reason why we get more and more AI written articles?

  • @magiclobsterparty I can't believe someone wrote that. Incorrect answers do more harm than being useful. If the person asks and don't know, how should he or she know it's incorrect and look for a hint?

  • @samokosik Right, but this is dumber. Because Facebook service itself is still Facebook, it's just the company renamed itself to Meta, because its not offering Facebook only anymore. Twitter on the other hand is the service that got renamed. Which has no reason to, it's just making it less memorable and take away the last bit cuteness from the platform.

  • @mastermind White X on a black background. It couldn't have less character and personality. The branding wasn't the issue with Twitter. Let's recap: Twitter is struggling, Elon buys Twitter, makes it a worse platform for users, introduces authentication by payment, restricts the access to the platform, and then changes the only good thing about Twitter, the branding.

  • @canpolat My point was not being limited to Windows, but more that his view is limited to DOS/Windows world, but making general judgements about software. And because Windows and it's eco system of applications he listed gets worse, he extrapolates this to all software.

Let's look at Linux, which is probably the biggest software ever and used on every possible way one can imagine. It got better and better, even though it's extremely big and has a lot of complexity to it and does not want to break compatibility if possible. But I am not saying all software is like that. That's my point. Some software get better, some get worse.

  • @canpolat The article is written from the perspective of a Windows user. I'm not surprised. Software as a whole does not get worse; there are some software which get worse, and some technology getting in the way. And then there is software which get better, not worse too. If you cherry pick, then you can prove any point you want to proven right; especially on a very wide range of topics like software.

  • @sab He is really dedicated into killing Twitter. This is basically a new service with the user data he purchased.

  • @chiz X is so easy to search in internet. So many results; it gets never boring! Very unique name and brand.

Spez: Write it down, write it down! Let's rename Reddit to Z! Employee: Why Z? Spez: What do you mean why? Does X make any sense to you too? Employee: All right, I should have never questioned you.

  • @clb92 lol. Now I can't unsee how the Ubisoft logo is just a pile of shit.
