It’d be a big spend, but you can get some Hue dimmable A19s with a bridge for your home and set them to whatever color temp you need. It’s not accurate to specific temps (I can’t ask it for 4000k) but with a little tinkering in the spectrums and sliders you could get it close.

Same issue, happens fairly regularly with static images. Doing stuff in Procreate shows no similar issues with the touchscreen.

I love a clinical trial. Sign me the eff up. That being said, as you mention, there are some issues with the speed of trials. And in particular, the demographic spread that volunteers for clinical trials in the US is a problem because it’s typically a monolith: white women, college educated, generally healthy, ages 18-35 IIRC. Proportional representation is hard to find, and distrust in public health is (for good historical reasons) low in minority populations. Pulling in a wider swath of people isn’t possible, and researchers are missing massive chunks of data from which trust could be built.

The caveat is that “circumstances were right” meant a sizable down payment among other things. Without the down payment, a mortgage would have approximated rent at the time. I was at the end of a lease though, and the jump to renew in a craphole apartment was enough to tip the scales. Bills are approximately the same, thankfully. I did take a hit on convenience in location, but the house was a tremendous deal.

Same, mortgage rates were near record high when I purchased but the circumstances were otherwise right. Mortgage ended up being a little over half the cost of renting and won’t go up every damn year, and homes aren’t getting cheaper. Plus there’s the option to refinance in the future if rates drop enough.

The education available in the US is also at its most expensive for overseas students, who are desperately courted by universities for a massive cash influx (source: am post-academic who witnessed this untold times). Wealthy families send their kids over at ungodly tuition rates, the students go back home and have the prestige of a US degree, which matches them up with high-paying jobs and ensures that the family’s wealth cycle continues.

A snag: the universities make so much money off these students, that if the student is struggling or not meeting a requirement somewhere, they’ll get waved through regardless with obviously bad results. The money is the point. I suspect if Elon did start importing people for lower costs, he’d get a lot of these students: they’re not hacking it back home but have a US degree from solid R1/R2s, come with a nice letter from their parents’ company, and are willing to be low-paid yes-people in order to cover their asses. Gambit? Masterful. Dick? Fully in car door. Car door? Expertly slammed.

You have to find the right mirror in a Ross that reflects a tiny door behind you, only big enough to crawl through, where a decrepit shoemaker has been waiting for you. $100 but you will have non-Euclidean nightmares.
