i mean, this is one way to win a war. the other is with bombs and death. Russia chose to enter this war, it shouldn't be surprised when it affects its citizens.

no one should get to keep their war over seas and out of their own borders.

imagine a future where we could stop wars by just taking people's jobs...

that's what discord is nice for. I've got a group that talks in voice almost every day. we just hang out after work, play a game or two, talk about life. the classic stuff.

i mean, are there ever consequences to the companies? how often does it actually affect their bottom line?

it keeps happening because companies doing very little to stop it because they have little incentive to.

i mean... I'm basically the only American i know that has actually chosen to walk as a real way to get somewhere in the last 5 years.

the idea that most Americans literally never walk anywhere isn't inaccurate. especially for anyone living outside of a city.

it's about the hardware requirements. most Windows 10 machines CAN'T be upgraded.

oh man, when the entire fleat gets stopped in place and it's a massive problem because everyone went flying and now zero g is making their blood pool badly even with minor injuries...... they turned what most shows would've shown as a minor inconvenience and showed how awful it would really be.

honestly, y'all should both give strange new worlds a shot. to me they're the closest we've ever gotten to TOS. even moreso than TNG. and i agree that the other new treks were ass.

yeah, but we already went down this road and defeated it in court back when they were leasing inmates after the civil war.

it's one of the only commonly known messaging platform to most people that:

1: isn't owned by a company that many people hate, even if they don't know much about it.

2: isn't platform locked and doesn't discriminate.

3: doesn't require money or verification to use.

i can see how it's kinda settled out this way. whatsapp never caught on in the u.s. because everyone here was happy with sms and mms when the rest of the world was picking up Whatsapp. from what i understand that's literally just because texting was cheap in the u.s.. now people want more than mms, but apple is being apple about it so we need a third party app. by this point Whatsapp is owned by Facebook and the "privacy" of it is openly mocked by the average non tech person. everyone hates Facebook so the idea of willingly adopting another Facebook messenger that you're not already on seems crazy. anyone that would accept that is just going to use Facebook messenger instead. anyone that wouldn't will find something better.

Snapchat has no big controversies. no one knows who owns them. they don't really try to be more than a messaging platform. i can see why people would uncritically choose it as their default. i bet it's big among the kids who don't play that whole blue bubble iphone supremacy game, but don't use discord either. so i guess the non nerdy kids that aren't elitist dicks. that's who I'd guess uses it amongst the youth these days.

edit: before the suggestions come, I know these aren't good solutions. I'm just theorizing why. getting my friends on matrix as best i can...

there's been instances of issues with steam games. like paid characters and skins in games being removed after the ip owners decided it was worth more money. dead by daylight did this multiple times.
