  • I've met the type who run businesses like that, and they likely do deserve punishment for it. My own experience involved someone running gray legality betting apps, and the owner was a cheapskate who got unpaid interns and filipino outsourced work to build their app. Guy didn't even pay 'em sometimes.

Granted, you could also hire inexperienced people if you're a good person with no financial investor, but that I've mostly seen with education apps and other low profit endeavors. Sex stuff definitely is someone trying to score cash.

  • I mean, they will likely add to the deficit mostly because they won't collect taxes on the rich. The current spending, if I'm being honest, isn't really an accurate prediction of their actions since contracts are still playing out and plenty of money is still being spent, although I'm betting additional costs are incurred if it's covering severance costs and legal bills, which could be temporary if they have their way.

We're two months in; if in a year they "win" and a ton of people aren't still sueing them (which honestly is unlikely unless we really go full nazi) then sure, it'll cost less because it won't be doing jack shit for the American people. Still not a win, of course, since it's like saying you lost weight after a quadruple amputation.

  • I get the sense Lemmy people are generally less likely to participate in this weird shit, as I also sat it out and we kind of select into this sort of "fuck you I won't do what you tell me" mindset by rejecting mainstream apps.

I didn't know it was an option in elementary, but as early as I remember I always adjusted the words to make it silly. I especially remember saying "under frog" when they got to the under God part, with liberty and French fries for all.

  • Using it for education? Not this current model, not by a long shot. Granted, I'm in higher ed, but even then it's suggestions have been so mediocre at best I've had to drastically modify anything it suggests to the point it's no longer time efficient to use it.

And believe me, I'd love it to grade essays for me but there's no way I can trust it with that simple task yet, even with a rubric.

  • I wonder if this and others will force US rebuilding efforts to include governmental reform if and when Trump is out. No amount of Obamas can reassure people the US isn't just going to flip out the left time it changes hands again.

  • Depressing, but just the other day at a USC coffee place I overheard some rich white girls make a joke about something "being a DEI thing!", albeit with the same kind of slight hesitation as one would have with the N-Word. So yeah, that's their slur now, I guess.

  • Kinda like how self driving cars are still safer than the average driver, ya. Do they make mistakes? For sure, although the bigger annoyance is just how slow they are to turn sometimes. AI would be so so at leading but man is the bar low with Americans.

  • Oddly, I feel Mexico is a better fit for my state of California, especially with their recent cool shift in an educated President. Maybe we can get a sort of E.U. style thing except for Canada, Mexico and blue states, plus whoever else would make sense.
