  • Graphically, it's a little silly in curscenes but everything else holds up except for a weird level up system. The combos and combat are somehow better than later games since it's tougher and every enemy counts (polygon counts keep it from the comical amounts in later games where you attack once and like 50 people die). Every character gets a campaign with multiple endings, too, which is something I missed.

The quote is Okuni's "a dreeaaaam, an illusioooon~" monologue in her ending because the VA is uh... not great, and my friend does the voice spot on.

  • It's Add Health, so it's not even the R2 that's the problem but the fact it's probably got a ton of covariates not included in the model. Lots of contextual variables not in that set drive me nuts, although I'm not even sure if 5th wave exists or has testosterone data lol (haven't used it in years)

  • My friend keeps referencing a quote from Samurai Warriors (the first one, PS2 era) so on a lark I surprised her with a co-op session via parsec. Best musuo era, for sure, although that acting makes us both laugh. (I never played it, why is Nobunaga Oda a Japanese Darth Vader?!)

  • I was just at a Costco over this and tbh, I fucking hate all these stores and it's a shame because at least Target around here was the most tolerable of the big box options, at least before they put everything behind glass with no personnel to open it.

What was it like in the before times, before the Walmarts and Targets of the world took over?

  • Honestly I'm pretty sure you can already do this. Your average person is remarkably superstitious and believes in angels and demons and such, it doesn't take much to also think they were cursed. Lol

  • When I needed to pick up on some basics, it actually did help but ultimately not as much as actual guides and tutorials written online. This image of a chimera certainly matches the kind of Frankenstein code I was getting.

That said, when I was having some very interesting ideas about making automated code in R, it did make for a good sounding board. You don't need to Google when everything in R has documentation but you do when you're combining libraries in unique ways to automate 98% of the stupid shit you do at your data researcher job (e.g. can you look up in our database how many students pick their nose during philosophy class on a Friday?)

  • I just some a lot of Lemmy are neurodivergent and do in fact require /s.

Which is actually halfway true, the other half being a more international crowd that aren't on the same page as whatever perspective you've got. That said, I got the joke and second you on spending more time with my feet on my desk while the boss pays me for my 20 minutes of work.

  • NPR also mentioned that there just hadn't been that much going on to filibuster. Nominations, sure, but Congress has been mostly taking a back seat to the presidency, for better or worse given executive actions aren't as permanent as Congressional law.

  • That's correct, although I do like that my IKEA ones have programmable remote switches. I don't tend to use them anyway, but my whole thinking is to Home Assistant them whenever I have time. The real dream, though, is have my house setup up detect exact location so they can fade in and out as I approach like a freaking video game, though, which is apparently possible.

But no, I just flip a switch like a person who doesn't have time for this lol
