  • I was surprised when I moved there. Taxes on groceries add up to a lot.

  • I wish NewPipe or Freetube had their own comment community.

  • It's not difficult or time-consuming. No need to worry or pay.

  • My Republican coworkers thought Trump was a clown and a joke who would never be elected, then after he won, it was "he's not that bad", and "people are too hard on him".

  • Hopefully you don't log in or give personal info to every website you use. Hiding your IP is still more private than not hiding it.

  • It depends on what file manager you use. In many, you can turn off thumbnail generation if you believe this might happen to you.

  • I agree. I've been using it for years, since I moved away from Kindle. I only wish it would support socks5 proxy so I could use Tor for metadata downloads from Google or Amazon.

  • Wild ginger is a great ground cover, too. Stays short naturally, feels good to step on, doesn't need much water.

  • I've never heard of the Forward Party before, but it sounds a lot like the No Labels party (which I thought was linked to Mitch McConnell, but apparently there was a fake website put up around the time of the election that tried to discredit them by making them look Republican-aligned, so maybe that's where I read that?)

  • Snap peas are so good. I spread a bunch of mixed wildflower seeds in the spring for the birds and insects, and they're growing well, along with some ferns and roses, but I'm not sure what most of them are. My bf doesn't like them in our planter box because they look "unkempt", but it's a little too late to mention that now.

  • It sounds like what they're saying is that people from hot areas tend to be relatively comfortable in the heat, which IME, as someone from a hot place, does tend to be true. I used to work outdoors 16 hours a day with a 120 heat index. Now I live in a temperate area, and I see everyone wearing shorts and complaining about the heat when I'm still in jeans and a t-shirt and feel pleasantly warm.

  • I've got some silicone straws and haven't had that problem, although their softness makes them awkward to push in a plastic drink lid.

  • I agree. When I run into a page that demands I turn on Javascript for whatever purpose, I usually just leave. I wish there was some way to just not even see links to sites that require this.

  • I've never used anything but systemd. I feel fine about it, but I think I'd feel the same way about not using it.
