  • saying when the account was created (month and year)

This is an absurd requirement, but do you have a ballpark idea, and does it let you continue to guess multiple times? Submit a few dozen password reset requests and if they complain, tell them to verify you via alternate means.

  • The only way a third party will ever be viable in a first-past-the-post system is if you infiltrate one of the two real parties and get enough candidates elected who have pledged to replace the FPTP system that got them elected and replace it with something that makes it a viable decision to vote third-party, such as ranked-choice voting.

  • Yes, that's just how open source works. Of course they always serve at the pleasure of the community, otherwise forks would happen. Nobody said otherwise. As the "Usage" section of that article implies, the "benevolent" bit comes from the feedback loop of a happy community supporting their dictator-for-life.

    Forms FORM-29827281-12:

    Test Assessment Report

    This was a triumph.
    I'm making a note here:
    HUGE SUCCESS.
    It's hard to overstate
    my satisfaction.
    Aperture Science
    We do what we must
    because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.

    But there's no sense crying
    over every mistake.
    You just keep on trying
till you run out of cake.
    And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
    For the people who are
    still alive.

    Forms FORM-55551-5:
    Personnel File Addendum:

    Dear subject,

    I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
    And killed me.
    And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you!
    Now these points of data
    make a beautiful line.
    And we're out of beta.
    We're releasing on time.
So I'm GLaD. I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned
    for the people who are
    still alive.

    Forms FORM-55551-6:
    Personnel File Addendum Addendum:

    One last thing:

    Go ahead and leave me.
I think I prefer to stay inside.
    Maybe you'll find someone else
    to help you.
    Maybe Black Mesa...
THAT WAS A JOKE. HA HA. FAT CHANCE.
    Anyway, this cake is great.
    It's so delicious and moist.
    Look at me still talking
    when there's Science to do.
    When I look out there,
it makes me GLaD I'm not you.
    I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done.
    On the people who are
    still alive.

PS: And believe me I am
    still alive.
PPS: I'm doing Science and I'm
    still alive.
PPPS: I feel FANTASTIC and I'm
    still alive.

    FINAL THOUGHT:
    While you're dying I'll be
    still alive.

    FINAL THOUGHT PS:
And when you're dead I will be
    still alive.

    STILL ALIVE

    Still alive.

  • Isn't there some sort of oversight? If not a national licensing organisation, what about local business licensing organisations, insurance organisations, or law enforcement and judicial organisations? A quick Google says the average death rate is 0.28 deaths per 100,000 jumps. If this place has facilitated somewhere around 10,000,000 jumps, then this seems statistically normal. Otherwise, if they have far fewer jumps than that, I'm surprised insurance or local business licensing organisations aren't dropping them or shutting them down, or local law enforcement isn't investigating them for negligence or incompetence.

  • Correct way is to treat "www." as silent and not even say it or type it. Then if a URL doesn't support non-www URLs, don't do business with them.

Extra credit: block www.* on you pi-hole or other DNS filter so you avoid those sites that force-redirect domain.com to www.domain.com.

  • Ive worked with tons of DB devs and admins. Nobody really seems to care. A bunch of us say "sequel" and a bunch of us say "ess cue ell", even in the same answer-and-response in a conversation and nobody seems to bat an eye. You'll get a comment or a smirk if you say "squirrel" or "squeal", but that's about it.

  • Selling online and shipping? EBay is still king.

Selling local-only? Ask your friends and neighbors what they use. My previous town still has a healthy craigslist community. My current town sells everything on Facebook marketplace (ugh).
