  • The only people who want to use it are people who started with it decades ago, or people who were forced to use it, and now think they're superior somehow to everyone else who doesn't use it.

oof now that is a lazy argument, I hope you were being sarcastic!

  • U.S. Treasury yields were whipsawed in April following U.S. President Donald Trump's so-called Liberation Day tariff announcements. They surged over 70 basis points (bps) in one week in April, raising questions about the safe haven status of the world's biggest government bond market.

    ** Gulp **

  • The purpose of his show, from what I can gather, is to show how you can find common ground with people you disagree with. And you cannot do this by invalidating somebody’s opinions. So he invites people on that suck, ie Charlie Kirk, Steve Bannon, Newt Gingrich, lets them say all the things they want to say with minimal fact checking, then where he can, he will point out the ways their opinions align with democrats. Then forces them to admit the commonality between the two.

Yes I know this is what brainwormed centrists see when they watch it, the rest of us see someone who is platforming Charlie Kirk, Steven Bannon, and New Gingrich like they are reasonable people to have a conversation with who espouse reasonable positions and don't threaten violence and bigotry towards vulnerable groups because these people are intellectually braindead and can't come up with any interesting arguments to hold their audience's attention hence the stoking of xenophobia in all its horrifying diversity of forms.

No, you treat these people like Sam Seder or Hasan Piker does, you dismantle them mercilessly with your rhetoric and show how little they have thought through their beliefs and yet how much conviction they stick to their vile hatred with even when that is pointed out. The world needs to see that and a politician like Gavin Newsom is specifically well situated to obscure it by having a pleasant conversation with them.

  • I think from a military perspective this has already decisively happened, the politics just haven't caught up yet and so US news (which can't make Putin look to bad because Trump or something right?) is doing shit like reporting on a Russian drone strike as "MASSIVE RUSSIAN DRONE STRIKE OVER KIEV KILLS 14".

Now I know the standards for journalism have dropped through the floor, foundation below and then asthenosphere and are currently running a blitz to the molten core of the earth, but if Russia wanted to actually just stage an indiscriminate massive drone attack over Kiev I think in a city population of 3 million more than 14 people would die, which isn't saying or not saying anything about Russia's capability or Ukraine's capability. It is just simple math.. 14 people? Why is the media ignoring this shift from full on brutal military conflict to more psychological performative displays of violence (that are still real but not mass scale) ?

I don't want to act like Russia still won't kill people ruthlessly, but by and large I think this war is over it is just a matter of the useless diplomats figuring out how to spin it so they don't disturb their precious little kingdoms... and meanwhile people are still dying.

End the damn war, Ukraine won.

  • This kind of comment sounds like you’ve only read headlines/internet comments or seen the controversial clips

Ok, false and I don't think my comments convey that at all but here you go.

Don't take my word for it, though it sounds like you won't anyways so I guess I didn't need to say that lol.

Gavin Newsom is the perfect villain for Trump to fight against from his perspective because he is also a scumbag so Trump will never actually feel threatened by Newsom as he can always get attacked from within his party for saying and doing heinous shit (which is something corporate democrats would like too, then they could rationalize cracking down on unhelpful leftists that "keep losing us elections with their shrill truthful voices").

  • In some ways, yes. American soft power and trust in the country just got fully tanked, but I see it as unrealistic that the country won’t still be a superpower trying to insert itself into everything… it just won’t have a lot of allies. But then again they control all of social media (minus Tiktok) so I’ll bet they’ll sway some assbrains around the world anyway, like with the election in Poland.

The tech and military industries in USA are too powerful that it’ll lose all of its relevance. Of course, the people will live increasingly worse lives - I just hope it’ll at least hit Republicans the worst

Kinda sounds like you are already in denial about it yet you say it hasn't happened yet :P

    Pre-emptive denial?

  • Violent resistance is inevitable in the conditions that have been purposefully curated to induce violent resistance so.... yes you are right.

Also it is a very late stage of this coup of democracy here so..... im not gonna waste too much breath on it, just focus on effective nonviolent resistance.

  • War is the least interesting place to look for heros but it is undeniable there, read stories of medal of honor recipients and tell me they pulled off some insane shit because of "self interest".

No, virtually every gift bestowed upon you by this world is a direct or indirect product of people making the strange choice to act in the interests of the greater good against ridiculous odds when the easier choice was screaming at them to take it. That is how it always begins :)
