  • What are they talking about? Yes they do: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2378500/Digital_Deluxe_Edition_DLC/

Mind you, I am not even mad, because they are extra superflous items from DOS2, so whatever, but they definitely have at least dlc for in game items. I guess that isn't really technically an in game purchase in the same way a dark pattern loot box is, but also in a single player game it is pretty much the same thing.

I am really supportive and happy for what Larian has done, but I think it is kind of naive for them to be beating their chest about this. Wizards of the Coast will one day probably force them to release monetized items, or charge for extra modules. I don't think they will be unfair about it, but come on.

  • Dragons Dogma has steadily been building a cult following, and pretty much the thing I miss most about reddit is the dragons dogma community. People play it to this day, actively making and sharing pawns with others.

The game still has pretty much the best action RPG combat system of all time - the guy who usually directs devil may cry directed it. It is a must play if you happen to like both classic fantasy rpgs as well as modern platinum and capcom action games.

If you are on the fence, I would definitely recommend waiting for a sale, where you pick the game up for 5 dollars usually. I have hundreds of hours maxing out my character in almost every class, and I still have to get around to beating the dark arisen dlc content - in just having too much fun with the rest of the game.

  • It just makes no sense to me though, how is it sustainable for nvidia to not have great Linux kernel support? Like, let the kernel maintainers do their job and reap the benefits. I'm guessing that nvidia sees enterprise support contracts as an essential revenue stream, but eventually even enterprises are going to go with hardware that Linus isn't giving the finger to right? Am I crazy?

  • What i don't get is how nvidia stock is exploding when using their hardware for AI is a nightmare on Linux. How are companies doing this? Are they just offering enterprise support to ibsiders or something?

  • Yeah, I just don't get the point of what Google is doing with all of this. The while point is to require attestation because than you know people are viewing ads. So websites can either "trust" certs issued by Firefox, or not and lose out on ad revenue. I guess Google absence doesn't have to trust firefoz attestation, but then it is going to payout less and people will seek other providers.

SSL certs provide trust because you ultimately trust the issuing authority, which is supposedly garunteednby world governments. Their are known corrupt actors issuing certs, but ultimately you can be pretty sure that the SSL cert matches the domain you are on, and that it was requested by the owner of that domain. But you can still choose to not visit that domain if you don't trust it. There are a lot of services that will block its already, so I don't really get what the point of attestation is.

  • It's not just that there are people thinking about it, it's that this is what our brightest minds in our society are incentivized to think about.

There is a joke in tech circles - if you are smart enough you eventually end up in ad tech. It's really unhealthy for our society.

  • I think as renewable energy gets cheaper and we move away from scarcity in society, we will stop looking at ourselves as brands. Instead, personal conduct, or the appearance of such will play a much larger part in our public lives and place in society. This will provide a lot of privacy issues.

  • Yeah, I definitely haven't given it its due, but mostly due to technical issues on the steamdeck. Switching to the linux native version is working very well though, so I probably will stick with it a bunch.

There are still various ways crosscode doesn't scratch the itch I am trying to get scratched (no character builds, kind of have frustrations with the combat system) but I do want to beat it at this point.
