  • Affinity has Pantone support built in and can switch between publisher and photo mode flawlessly so the workflow is better than inDesign/Photoshop. As for work stuff, I'm stuck with Adobe products so it's more or less non-negotiable. Most of what I do is done in inDesign so I think Scribus would be the closest alternative, but I'll be trying everything I think. It's probably 5 years since I last used linux as a daily driver so I'm keen to see how far the software has come.

  • I'm very much a casual (half-assed) gamer. I'm just as happy with a nice-looking Freecell as whatever Steam feels like sharing. I'll probably spend more time tinkering with WINE to see if I can get Affinity running on it so I don't have to boot into windows except for work.

  • 60+ for pakeha, 50+ for Maori / Pacific Islander, or be classed as immuno-compromised, or your previous covid infection was severe.

I actually thought they'd loosened the criteria up but I guess not :(

  • Fedora kde and win11. I'm using OneDrive as a file server/ online backup though so I'm probably just making my life difficult but I hate the way AI is being bolted onto windows when it's unreliable and built on janky datasets.

  • Oh that sucks, hope you don't get too much worse. If you can, definitely take the antivirals, they can make a huge difference (just make sure you get a few packs of tic-tacs to goi with them because the main side effect is metallic dog breath for a week)

  • The beauty of living in a century-old house. Mum has just been through the whole carpet selection process so I'll definitely be dragging her on board when I do the window shopping. I saw a headline about a survey claiming that more than half of homeowners will be doing renos of some kind in the next year and scoffed so it probably serves me right.

  • From what I gather, we'll be adding more piles but not neccessarily taking the old ones out? I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, having zoned out of the conversation and into a mild panic attack, lol.

  • This morning the SO nonchalantly informed me that half the piles under the house are rotten and the house isn't high enough to get under it so we'll have to rip the near-new carpet up to remove the floorboards to get to the piles...

I love our tiny villa but I was hoping our next 'big' expense would be the mere replacement of the fridge, which has taken up yodelling.

  • I was going to post a Made-It Monday thread to see what everyone has been up to, only I haven't actually made anything myself and chickened out 😶

Hopefully I'll guilt myself into hauling my cross stitch box out this week so I have something to share next week!

  • Here's my picture:

I haven't weeded the garden and really need to get out there but since things are flowering the bees are starting to appear, so I'm inclined to leave it as is for now, at least until more non-weed flowers are blooming.
