I knew I should have checked here before grabbing a bottle of wine on the way home, haha. I've decided my beer of choice is 0% Asahi but tonight I've got an Aussie pinot gris.
Yeah I agree with that. I had paid for Relay Pro so paying to remove ads from Sync didn't seem like a big deal, although it's probably the most money I've ever dropped on an app.
Everyone seems pretty keen to support the dev and I'm prone to impulse buys so I've already paid to remove ads. I don't like subscription models though so probably won't be shelling out for the extra features, whatever they are.
Apps for Lemmy are being developed at a huge pace at the moment so subbing to the community for your app of choice is a good idea. Other than that, anything you're interested in. There's a Lemmy browser that's a good place to start.
I installed it this morning too and this is my first post using it. I had Relay on reddit so I don't have the familiarity that everyone else is raving about but it seems like a good solid start to a polished app.
Got kicked in face by a massive cold over the weekend and only just starting to recover now. Managed half a day at work and now I'm sitting under the heat pump with no plans for this afternoon beyond a nap.
Really solid frost this morning and MetService is insisting that it feels like -5 out there. We just watched a woman run past the house pushing a buggy, crazy lady.
The guy building Connect is really responsive to requests so I'd definitely be asking for that to be an option rather than a baked in 'feature'. I'm really enjoying the lack of karma farming about the place.
Every month might be a bit of a stretch at the moment but I was trying to avoid suggesting we straight-up copy the end of year awards on the kiwi reddit sub.
One of the things I love about Lemmy is that there's no score/karma count because it means people are posting because they want to, rather than just collecting points.
That said, we could have a monthly or yearly thing to highlight especially funny or memorable posts.
Day off today so I got up at my usual time and went for a walk with Mum. 5.5km on a slippery track but we celebrated with a stop at her favourite cafe for breakfast.
This afternoon involves nothing more strenuous than wrangling the crockpot and a few hours of sewing.
I got covid just before Christmas last year and every time I've been ill since it's hit me a lot harder than I expected. I don't know if that's a sign of long covid but since the boffins keep pointing out different things the virus is responsible for, I'm gonna go ahead and assume that it's altered everyone's immune systems so that regular bugs are now kick-your-ass bugs.
I miss NZCasual but I also tended to lurk on Reddit rather than participate so this place has been much, much better for me in terms of actual engagement. The main NZ sub had been getting more and more nasty since just before the first lockdown but I'd keep an eye on it for anything actually useful.
