200+ Jewish-Led Protesters Arrested at NY Stock Exchange Say ‘Stop Arming Israel’

  • I'm mainly privacy and security focused when it comes to software. My first Linux distro was Whonix. It's like if Tor expanded from the browser into an OS. Its a bit clunky and outdated though, so not a great daily driver. My second and current distro was the KDE spin of Fedora. It's been amazing top to bottom. Unfortunately Red Hat recently started some drama, but Fedora shouldn't be impacted as its upstream. If Red Hat's greasy paws do mess things up, I'm thinking about running OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. Hopefully it's just me over thinking and Fedora will remain a stellar OS option for years to come.

  • Ah, I've never had fibre so I'm not too sure. With coaxial cable it just requires whatever docsis cable modem is designed for the speeds provided.

  • Your ISP's knowledge base will have factors behind it. Do you use their provided router? If so, they can easily have more data about your internet usage than if you'd use your own. As far as modem's go, I don't think it can provide as much data compared to a router, but it's still worth the cost to obtain more control of your information.

Overdrive seems like data middle man to me, give LibriVox and/or The-Eye a try instead. Hopefully one or both have all the books without the privacy worry.

  • Kenya stating they have 1,000 police at Haiti's disposal to "restore order" is opinion?

  • Great point, if it's not native to the area it doesn't make much sense. Native species are built to handle the specific year round conditions. Nonnative species typically struggle at certain times of the year. Plus, they can take over entirely too. When sourcing indigenous seed, the most common issue is the amount. Ideally a couple years heads up could be given to help offset the problem.

  • Windows and Apple both capitalize on most folks lack of minimal tech savviness plus being creatures of habit. So much so, Apple gave away laptops to numerous Silicon Valley highschool classes in the mid 2000's, just to entrench them into the system.

I've been using Linux for a few years now and I still randomly think about what took me this long to switch. It's how an OS should be made. It can simply be installed and used out the gate or it can be tinkered with to make an ideal setup. Not to mention the lack of invasive tracking. Windows is so bad it's more complete monitoring of the users than tracking.

Regardless, August 2023 to August 2024 will definitely be the year of the Linux desktop! /s

  • RCS, while a solid concept, was never adopted in a major way. It seems like only the Samsung and Google messengers have RCS functionality. I use Signal for encrypted messaging, just wish more folks I know used it regularly.

  • Ahh, right... Perfection only, progress is ridiculous. Might as well just give the money to the US military then, which is far and away the biggest single contributor to the climate crisis.

  • QKSMS has been great over the past year and change I've used it. Simple, clean and customizable. Simple SMS Messenger is another solid option as well.

  • Doing controlled burns will prevent the fires getting to this extent. Nonetheless, it's not a singular focus here, tree's uptake CO2 and you know one big factor to these outlandish fires? The increasingly hot temperatures as a result of CO2 levels.

  • Chromium or Brave are going to be good options. I really dig Vanadium on mobile as my backup to Mull, but there's not a desktop option as far as I know.

  • Some trees actually require fire to reproduce. So stopping fires isn't too logical, but controlled burns similar to the Native American's approach is the way to do it. This allows the circle of life to continue without a colossal impact on the surrounding areas.

  • Hey now, many diplococcus microbes are STI free!

  • CamScanner has multiple solid alts available, I like PDF Doc Scan a whole lot. The editing options are a step above CamScanner I'd even bet.

The EQ settings in VLC almost certainly are equal, if not superior, to HiBy.

I truly don't need much for a photo editor on my phone. If you need to use all the bells and whistles with Snapseed, I'd much much rather use my PC.

Seperate User Profile > Work Profile 100%! A work profile is working in a different room at your house, while a different user profile is equal to having an separate office to go work in when it comes to data segregation.

Lynx Launcher > Free Nova Launcher for me without question. Lynx's is super clean and the free settings are more than enough for detailed customization with zero trackers.

With ScreenMaster, I don't see the need at all. More apps increase your attack surface area. My default works very well, I've never even thought about an additional app for screenshots.

If tech business hadn't gone off the deep end acquiring tons of unnecessary data from every user in the name of profit, I'd be more willing to have forgone the years of research needed to be fully untracked digitally. That being said, convenience is no where even close to a good enough reason for me to use most these apps unfortunately.

  • Curious why you'd choose closed-sourced apps when there are phenomenal open-sourced options which accomplish the same tasks? The list of trackers for CamScanner alone is wild, I'd expect most of the others to be similarly invasive too.

    Edit:

    • Snapseed: 0 Trackers
    • Glasswire: 0 Trackers
    • 1DM+: No Exodus Report
    • Accubattery: 6 Trackers
    • AppOps: 2 Trackers
    • Bouncer: No Exodus Report
    • ACR Call Recorder: 2 Trackers
    • CamScanner: 18 Trackers
    • Clipboard Pro: 2 Trackers (cost $2.99)
    • DiskUsage: No Exodus Report
    • HiBy Music Player: 5 Trackers
    • MiXplorer: No Exodus Report
    • MX Player: 18 Trackers
    • Nova Launcher: 2 Trackers [Lynx Launcher is a much better choice for this list]
    • OfficeSuite: 12 Trackers
    • RAR: 0 Trackers
    • ScreenMaster: 4 Trackers
    • SD Maid: 1 Tracker
    • Wavelet: 0 Trackers
  • You know, just depends on the mood, sometimes I like taking risks!

  • One of my favorite FF features is how it can delete cookies and site data when the browser closes! Super great for preventing eternal damnation!!
