Literary Institutions are Pressuring Authors to Remain Silent about Gaza

  • Pixel is the new age Nexus phone, meaning Google designed it with dev's in mind. This is why you're able to unlock the bootloader, flash a new OS and then relock it. The hardware is for sure the most secure on the market too. Android also being based off the Linux kernel means Google's required to publish the code for it as well. These aspects are why it's a common choice for privacy respecting OS's. If Google wants to stand toe to toe with Apple, they have to incentivize it's use and this is a decent approach.

  • Much appreciated, I don't play with Apple hardware but thanks for looking out nonetheless.

  • Makes sense, but this is specifically the Memmy icon. I'll make one with the Lemmy icon and add it.

  • They removed those words from their code of conduct in 2018. Literally showing evil has been incorporated into their moves.

  • Still too much, zero profit is the goal for death dealers across the globe.

  • It's to show dominance, really just felines keeping us in check lol Remember they weren't domesticated like K9's but pretty much enforced the relationship on us!

  • The Gallup poll was in regard to support Ukraine reclaiming territory, while this one is regarding US funding the conflict. The two are related for sure but still very different questions being asked.

  • I mean, this is typical of statistics. The random sampling here means there's a 95% chance the survey result will be within 3.7% of the actual values. According to statistics principles, the minimum sample size is 25 to be able to generate statistically significant data. Granted, the smaller the sample size, the greater the margin of error.

  • Van der Waals is the attraction aspect of LDF, while steric repulsion is the flipside and still a part of LDF interactions. But based on the possible substrates LDF interaction with CYP450, the active site + mechanism of action will adjust to work with what's around. Not just an allosteric aspect where a select few molecules can fit in the active site. Or at least that's my understanding of the study's findings.

Edit: The 4D aspect is referencing the LDF impact on the enzymes shape and function. LDF impacts all biochem reactions, dipole and hydrophobic forces are a bigger aspect to substrate binding though. But this breaks the mold of what we thought we knew about enzymes and opens the door for a more indepth understanding of biochemical reactions.

  • It has to to with the LDF repulsion and attraction. The study stated it was a 4D aspect of the CYP450s. It alters the active site to bind to different substrates depending on the toxins found in the liver.

  • I'd say use Firefox for 3 months, there's some adjusting needed but it's really grown on me. Bromites last and final update was 8 months ago, so definitely find a replacement. Mull is a fantastic mobile browser, privacy focused and even has extentions. But Ladybird is a new browser in the works which isn't chromium or FF based, maybe give that a try whenever its released as well.

  • They had a huge problem with their encryption for a while but I believe it's now fixed. Additionally, it was ran by Kim Dotcom, the guy who hosted Megadownload, until the New Zealand government took over. So it's had faulty encryption and is hosted by a 14 eyes government agency. This is why privacy communities recommend alternative options to Mega.

  • Cytochrome p450 is one of the primary enzymes for detoxification in the liver. This study determined how it alters reaction mechanisms based only on an initial stimulus. So like a robot, it can provide a variety of functions based on its environment. One of the lead scientists in the study stated, “we have discovered that CYP450s act as soft-robot machines in 'living matters,' displaying a remarkable sensing and response-action capability. This is an exciting revelation, and we believe that similar mechano-transduction mechanisms of soft-impact cues might be at work in other soft-robot machines in nature.” I hope this helps make more sense of the research.

  • Exactly, one of my favorite aspects of science is regardless how apparent something may seem, statistically significant data or it didn't happen. We actually don't understand the entire mechanism behind fever or Tylenol, which is pretty wild to me!

  • I don't feel like anything is wrong with systemd, but options are apart of what makes Linux so awesome.

  • "The older I get, the longer the days but the shorter the years." - Gramps

  • That's what makes Nobara so rad, it works great for gaming because it has a number of the most downloaded packages built in!

  • Nobara is a great gaming focused distro, it's a fork of Fedora by a well-known Red Hat employee.

  • I've given Qubes a go, it's a bit much for my threat model. Fedora is a well ranked OS from a privacy and security standpoint, not on the same level as Qubes, but Qubes uses it as the base OS. Fedora's easier on the eyes and straight forward. Is Qubes your daily driver?
