  • My windows partition forced me to do an update which has now broken the start menu and right clicking on pinned icons. Thanks Microsoft. Great job.

I really can't wait to be rid of it completely but unfortunately the building and construction industry is addicted to torture and refuses to move on from Autodesk.

  • Well, I'm in Australia so I would try and communicate with the indigenous population and teach them how to defend themselves against the upcoming colonist invasion and take advantage of what they have to offer, starting with forcing a signed treaty.

  • On a separate note, I just installed a Linux partition on my laptop to dual boot since I still need windows for AGI32 and Autodesk. Next weekend, I'll be shrinking my windows partition, move my files to a new partition and mount it in Linux so I can access files both ways.

Feels so good to have absolute control of my computer again.

I'm glad I got out when I could because Recall is such a dodgy 'feature'.

  • Jokes on them! I got rid of windows last week and now have Linux Mint on my PC! It's great! All my games run and I've set up my own screenshot shortcut in a way that I want. Installing software through terminal commands is also a lot of fun.

  • It doesn't matter. The choice was the status quo or something worse for everyone on earth, economically.

Everyone in the world knows the US election system is crap and has been getting more crap for decades. The world isn't angry at you specifically. The world is angry at the apathy of the general American public and the sheer amount of influence America has over the global economy since WW2.

There were protests for George Floyd. There was the MeToo movement.

But when it comes to a convicted felon and known criminal taking the top seat? Crickets. Anything that isn't US centric, such as the global economy, doesn't seem to rustle any of your jimmies. Hence, we're pissed because your apathy has brought in economic instability on all of us when it could have all been easily prevented.

Something as small as 'not having the right candidate' or even 'sticking it to the libs' means nothing to the rest of the world when what we have now it's the alternative.

For a country with so much global power, the populace is so, so, so small minded.

  • What you do not do is drag people into the streets banging pots. It's not the 1960s

Are you sure? I'm pretty confident that's what happened on the weekend.

Also, relying on technology owned and controlled by the billionaire class is a bit rich...

Anyway, I don't want to antagonise you. Just don't discount the traditional methods of communication thinking it's ineffective. In a world where privacy is almost non-existent and you're constantly being monitored, going analogue is one of the best tactics there is.

  • The point of making the 'left', or any opponent, look unhinged is to pressure them into submission. The reason why this works very well is because your media is complicit in amplifying any wrongdoings by any opponents and twisting the perception.

i mean, check out protests in Europe and how they're framed by their media. Even your Vietnam war protests back in the day; your media started banging on about them being drug users and layabouts to make dismissing their cause much easier.

I just think Americans have lost a lot of people power if you have to protest while walking on eggshells. Best thing to combat it is to have a conversation with everyone. Get people chatting face to face rather than having the TV spout nonsense at them.

  • No, you're definitely allowed. Otherwise you'd have had your comments removed from the public discourse.

The up and downs just gauge public approval to the comment. Remember, you're also free to up and down vote to voice your disagreement.

Also remember, if you think everyone around you are assholes then likely you're the asshole.

Edit: I just saw your other comment on the lack of variety of posts. Be the change you want to see. Find something interesting and make a post!
