If the market was competitive, people would just choose another product or service that didn't use such practices as you can clearly be profitable without doing this.
The war really can't have more support than it current does in Russia. Pretty much the whole country is actively or passively supporting it. So this theory has already been soundly debunked. The Russian people care only about their own situation, and until they feel the results of this war, there will be no real opposition. Support can't go up from here, but with some help it can go down.
There are the freestanding air conditioners. They have a hose you put in the window. There are plastic seals you can buy that fit in the windows to seal off the exhaust. They aren't perfect but they are better than nothing.
Unfortunately the US has a lot better access to labor, better demographics, and more natural resources and better river networks, etc. to exploit, not to mention extremely good natural defense lines. No matter how well run Europe is in comparison, the US will always have a massive head start.
Yeah zero chance this happens in our lifetimes. They don't have enough in common to pull something like this off. It took Europe half a century and they are all next door neighbors with roughly the same values.
