  • I can see Hollywood easing up on AI. But I think that at the least, they want writers and actors to be able to us AI if they want to.

What would get the guilds to budge is residuals on streaming, but the streaming platforms don't have an income stream to pull that money from (it should be through advertising, but most subscribers sign up for ad free tiers), so I don't think we'll see the studios move on that yet.

  • True. I'm a right winger, so I do like how sometimes he'll go against a left wing talking point in the monologue, but in my opinion he's not particularly funny in those monologues, it just doesn't work for me. But to be fair, I'm 23, not a boomer, so to an extent that's not a problem because the show is not made for me. That'd be, fittingly, the role of Last Week Tonight, which in turn I really love despite not agreeing with John Oliver on politics.

  • All it would have to do is go to Boomer Facebook, find the memes with the crispiest jpegs and copy them outright.

The same could generally be said for all of late night, to be honest, even Greg Gutfeld's show. Late night TV is for boomers anyways.

But the part of his show where those jokes will be told would be the monologues, not the panel discussion, so even the boomers will be missing out on that brand of humor.

  • I wonder how cheap it might be, they still might have to pay Bill Maher a considerable some. People seem to like his panel segments depending on who his guests are so I'm presuming that's where most of his ratings are coming from.

  • As a fan of his show, this is a shame. Patriot Act was the best thing in late night over the past ten years, and while this doesn't diminish how good it is as entertainment, it does decrease his credibility, and people will take him less seriously now.
