IDK it cause a domino effect. Now Bill Maher is bringing his show back too.

Yeah, a video podcast, with the same crew from his show serving as the crew for the podcast.

The "loophole" that I am hearing is that Drew isn't acting on this show, so this isn't under her umbrella of acting.

Historically, we have seen Colbert's hosting of previous show The Colbert Report deemed to be "acting", but I don't know if modern talk shows are considered to be run by hosts, or actors playing a character.

I mentioned it in a different comment thread, I think starting a similar podcast with the same non-union crew would be the way to go, especially for Bill Maher who has experience running a podcast

Well, I think this will get them both attention now. The right has been giving Bill Maher attention for awhile now and likely will continue to do so, but that's for political reasons.

The consequences will truly hit when the strike is over and they're iced out of the unions, missing out on other Hollywood opportunities. I suspect that will affect Drew far more than Bill.

I don't know if that's what's happening. I disagree with the decision but I can understand wanting to continue to give your non-striking employees work.

I don't find his views extreme, nor do I think that perception would keep him from getting roles (Chris Pratt and Zachary Levi have been able to get roles, for example). But I don't think he wants to act at all. Wouldn't be shocked to see him want to write though.

True, but frankly I would not be surprised if people like it well enough to not complain too much.

I heard about it when it first came out but nobody talked about it afterwards, I'm not sure that anybody is watching it.

The amount of people now saying that they didn't know Drew had a show has surprised me, to be honest.

I think they are trying to take advantage of a loophole as they're not technically acting here.

If I was Bill Maher, I would have done a makeshift spinoff podcast instead, as he already knows how to make a podcast and if he hires the same team, none of his crew is out of a job.

I highly doubt this. He gave a good reason to scab, even if I disagree with his decision.

I like Maher, but he definitely doesn't have a track record of supporting fellow guild members.

But he won't lose much, he's rich and probably at the tail end of his career tbh. There aren't a lot of future benefits he'll be missing out on if he's kicked out of SAG or the WGA.

It'd be surprisingly nice, I think. Imagine a $40/mo service where you can see every streaming exclusive?

That said, I don't like subscription services, so I wouldn't sign up for it in most cases.

This might be a hot take but I think that's what we actually want. YouTube TV is exploding in popularity and that's literally what it is.

I think there will be a new era where there will be something like cable, but it gives you every streaming exclusive rather than every live channel, and I think people would actually be happier with something like that than something like YouTube TV

I always thought it looked good IMHO

I don't support piracy, but it'd take some friends dragging me along to see this in theaters. I like Zack Snyder's Snyderverse and I'm excited about James Gunn's DCU plans, but I'm not sure if it's in either universe, and I'm not sure if I'm down with the tone of this trailer either.
