  • The op is conflating two different things weirdly.

In my experience, when people find out my texts are green, they oftentimes would rather switch to a different platform altogether like Instagram or just not text at all.

I totally understand wanting to move the conversation to a different platform or format.

The last line about it being a friendship dealbreaker is weird though.

  • Absolutely correct. My point though is that saying “men don’t get to have an opinion” is a silly, and unproductive argument in favor of what should he abortion rights. Representative democracy wouldn’t function at all if no one was allowed to have an opinion on things that they don’t do directly and not let those opinions influence how they vote. That’s a silly argument.

  • 4 is honestly my preference. I don’t see the need to defederate from instances that federate with Threads. But I do want to see a list of instances that federate with Threads so I can personally never comment or post there. I don’t like the idea of comments and posts I make being used to generate ad revenue for Facebook.

  • I honestly don’t get this stance. If you believe abortion is killing a human, then you treat it like murder. If you believe it isn’t killing a human, because it really isn’t, then it’s just an inconsequential medical procedure that no one should care about.

  • How do Lemmy.world users feel about the content they make being displayed next to ads on Threads? If that’s the only bad thing Threads does, then it would be a best case scenario. Would Lemmy.world users be ok with Facebook monetizing the content they make on Lemmy.world?
